I beg to disagree with this. He can still apply again, he has at least 2 full months before school finally resumes, and if you check, rate of application has dropped, even appointment dates at Lagos VFS office are no more as far as they were 2months ago. If he can meet all that is required, why not? Whether he likes it or not, the same challenge would be faced later, so why not now?
Someone here got his TRV in 3weeks too.

Except then again, his mind does not want to go for it anymore, then yea it's fine. No one is getting younger anymore, what if his program is not available for winter intake? He should wait for a year? I hope you get what i'm saying anyway.

Cheers bro
Frankrobbn1:

lummy11,

At this juncture, what will work best is paying up your full tuition and having funds in a dorm account for your first year living expenses, this will go a long run in addressing insufficient available funds.
Also, let your dad state how much he that will be made available for you, per each academic year in his affidavit of sponsorship.
Lastly, I won't advise you to reapply by August against September resumption, taking into account the 9 weeks processing times for Nigerian applicants. Doing so, you're indirectly asking them to refuse your application. What most people don't seem to understand is that, whenever you apply late for study permit, there are high tendency of getting a refusal because you're not giving them enough time to process your study permit application. The ideal time is applying early or at least 3-4 months before school resumption, giving them enough time to process your visa. Therefore, going for winter will help your case.

This is my advise for you!
All the best!

@Frankrobbn1 and other gurus in the house please I need your advise/contributions.

I was recently refused study permit on the ground of 'purpose of visit'. The VO is not convinced that I will leave Canada after my study.

Profile:
School: CPAWSB Alberta Province

Fees: I did not pay a din as it is stated on my acceptance letter that I must a study/work permit before I can register for the program and enroll for courses.

Previous Study: Graduate in Accounting and presently in the final stage of ICAN. Also i have 4yrs work experience in Accounting/Auditing.

Sponsor: Elder brother who provided 7 months bank statement of N25m closing balance. Though the VO did not tick insufficient fund as one of the reasons for denial(The only reason for denial is purpose of visit and am very sure that in my gcms note the VO must question why I want to take such professional program program in Canada at a high cost when I can take similar program here in Nigeria.)
Also, I plan to state in my next application that my elder brother does not have child yet(dependant).

Questions:
1. ICAN syllabus list Canada CPA as one of the professional bodies that can get direct membership with CPA designation. Pls can I print and attach this page in my next application to show that I will return to Nigeria to barge ACA designation with CPA designation?

2. Can I also include evidence of rental income that my wife and kid would use to sustain themselves while I am away? Can that boost my eligibility chances 'Purpose of visit'?

3. My online status already shows that I passed medical test(upfront), completed biometrics and background checks completed also that I failed eligible review.
In my next application, am I still expected to do another medical and biometrics? Also, will the next VO concentrate only on my eligibility review or start over from the beginning? I asked because I plan to present more proofs/points that I am eligible to study for Canadian CPA program and return to Nigeria after my studies.

4. Can I still use the SOA I presented previously which ended in March 30th 2018. Is it advisable to present it again in July when I reapply or can I add Apr-June 2018 SOA to the old one for submission. Someone advised that I can still use the same SOA for July but i want to confirm from the house.

PLS NOTE THAT I HAVE REQUESTED FOR MY GCMS NOTES... JUST WANT TO PREPARE AHEAD WHILE WAITING FOR THE NOTE.

PLEASE I NEED YOUR ADVISE/CONTRIBUTIONS GURUS/EXPERIENCED APPLICANTS ESPECIALLY ON HOW TO CONVINCE THE VO IN MY NEXT APPLICATION THAT I AM ELIGIBLE TO SCHOOL IN CANADA AND WOULD RETURN TO NAIJA AFTER MY STUDIES.

THANK YOU.

With the little I have observed on this forum, I think the problem here is not about funds as you have mentioned nor is it about you paying your tuition fee.
I think the question we need to be clear on first is if indeed you just plan to come for CPA and leave afterwards or just an entry route into the country...
Since you are only coming for a certificate course/programme which Nigeria has its equivalent that is well recognized and not a university/college degree, the question becomes the reason why you want to be Canadian certified when you don't plan to practice in Canada. As a matter of fact, you are in your final stage for ICAN, may I ask if the programme you will be doing for CPA is off higher level than what is obtainable with ICAN.
(I am not so vast in your area of qualification, so you can please shed more light on that)
If you can be articulate about why you would embark on such and come back to Nigeria to convert the degree, maybe that might help more.

With what I know about CPA, CPA profession assesses international credentials and provides streamlined programs to help internationally trained accountants become Canadian CPAs. So why would you become Canadian certified when you are the final stage of your ICAN program which is recognized in your home country?

You wouldn't have to do biometric anymore but I am not sure for the medical examination and if possible, please print a new SOA (I learnt GCMS note takes about 30days, so if you are applying sometimes 3rd week of July, I will say a statement that ended in March is not ideal, that's almost 4 months after fact).

I hope this helps.

Hello everyone,
I joined this thread through the recommendation of a friend who got her TRV with the help of you guys and God.

I'm a newbie and its quite complicated. I have read the line of thought from Part 8 till now and I want the GURUS to please comment.

I have a masters degree (Distinction) (2016) and a B.Sc. (2.1) in Genetics, a couple of publications, passed GRE (320/340)and TOEFL, had interships with some federal research institutes too. Tried to secure both Ph.D. and M.Sc. Admission (with scholarship) to no avail. Finally decided to apply to a micro-program in Neuroscience (neurogenetics) in U of Montreal. I got the admission (Winter 2019). I applied for the micro-program because I dont have enough money to pay for the Masters Program.

With all the emphasis laid on the progression of studies, I am really really scared that this might be a major mess on my application.

Can I hide the M.Sc. certificate, even though U of M knows that I have an M.Sc. degree?

So here I am esteemed gurus, I am determined to make the app work and all comments and suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

I plan to apply next month but first the big question: BASED ON YOUR EXPERIENCES (THE GURU'S) IS IT DOABLE?
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by drhammed: 7:11am On Jun 24, 2018
With this your great profile, why not focus your search to USA? Atleast to secure some funds?.

Well, as regards Canada Study Permit, Write a very convincing SOP and you will be very good to go. Your 1st M.Sc should not serve as a barrier if your SOP is convincing enough.

I still advise you consider USA in future so this great GRE Score and research experience don't just waste.

Best wishes.

Thanks drhammed, I greatly appreciate your comment sir,

Yeah I did apply to the US for PhD in Nov 2016 for the 2017 session, Got an interview (out of 6 apps) from UAB, passed, but my admission got rescinded because of school's financial constraints and maybe the trump factor too, I didnt know, they only apologised with no concrete reason. so decided to try canada and move on from US and their wahala.

I will try again this oct I guess, But thanks for your comments sir, it has greatly boasted my confidence.

Goodluck to other TRVs applicants.

I will keep this thread updated as I move along.

Other comments are still welcomed my ogas on this threads

The payment is part of the tuition fee. 1.4m
Please will there be a refund if admission is not granted?

Hello, your question will be rightly answered by the institution. Send them an email and find out if you are eligible for a refund if your study permit is refused.

The best and cheaper way to pay your tuition from Nigeria is bank payment. Go to your bank with your admission/offer letter and your international passport and tell them you want to pay your tuition fee, they will process it @ the CBN approve rate of N230/CAD$. Though it take up to 7 working days before your college will acknowledge you of the receipt.. Such approved rate applicable to tuition fee and medical payment abroad by CBN/FG

@Linzo, pleased which bank processes CAD @ N230/CAD and where did you get the information that N230 is the approved rate for CAD?

The approved rate stated by CBN is for USD @ N360/USD. To get the rate for CAD, you will use CAD cross rate against USD which is not lower than N280

@Yomicee, there’s no bank in Nigeria that will give that rate (230/CAD).

The fastest way to make your tuition payment is through the bank. Just go to your bank and request for a form A to pay your tuition. The rate should be between 280-290/CAD.

Hello TRV Hopefuls.

Please, I have been thinking of something lately that I feel could affect TRV approval negatively.

Is it not possible for the VO's to check if an applicant applied for PR or at the least in the EE pool since the same account would be used to apply for study permit?

I'm thinking they could assume that applicant might be trying to remain in Canada after studies and thus trying to go through the study permit route since that applicant has not been successful via EE or PNP. This may be particularly for those going for less than a year course.

This is actually one of the reasons I have not tried out EE or PNP yet.

Experts/Guru; what do you think?

You can only go for biometrics if you received a biometrics letter in your CIC account cos you'll need to show it at Vfs before you are allowed entry.

That $360 is the approved market rate and not official rate. OK, for example if you're paying for student Visa using paper route you will pay N54,050 against $235 for Visa fee. Please thank me at least letting you know this. Go to bank ask the customer care direct and guide you on how to overseas fee. Not just carry money to bank to pay fee as normal transaction

Are u sure of this info? GTB charged us N298 to $1 CAD last year through the CBN form A for tuition fees Payment. Please verify this information again
