I smiled when i read the thread of hard.life because i started bet9ja virtual almost the same time as you [mine 2015]. No one gives me money to help them buy something again because they know i won't come back. The truth is, there's no cure. You're only repentant when you're broke!

I was close to graduating when i started. I gambled with 40k school fees mum gave me twice. Borrowed from friends in school and church [saying it's life on the line because people pity a lot when u beg with education] and gambled. Bet9ja is too sweet to resist. They have sockets for u to charge, free dstv to watch and u meet wayward peeps like you who u can share your downside with.

Any one admitted to uniben is doomed. A new complex opposite uniben has all bet shops in it. Surebet, bet9ja to merrybet, nairabet etc. I sold anything sellable just like the guy whose thread was on frontpage. From trousers to fan, bucket, meat in fridge, my friend's belt, umbrella etc just to find money to bet. I've been beaten up by thugs when i gambled with someone's phone. Unimaginable things were done by me because of bet9ja virtual. I can go on and on but i'll stop here. Youths are finished in this generation. Its either gambling, drugs or masturbation.

There's just no way one can forget the pain gambling has caused. It keeps staring at you. When you go out, you see your mates who have graduated, it strikes ur heart. One can't help it but to go back to the shop either to sleep there and think your life or to continuing playing in order to seek solutions. Especially when you hear of people still making it from gambling.

There's a method i adopted which has helped reduce my sorrow. I've decided to pick masturbation from all the addictions. So what i do, immediately i get paid my salary [9k], i quickly drop 2k with my mum, pay down 6k with a food vendor who would give me 200naira food everyday for 30days. Then use the remaining 1k to buy data on my etisalat line for porn. That way, no money is left on me to think of gambling. Try this @hardlife

I'm a slave to none of these. but here's my advice to anyone who's addicted. find a stronger higher desire to chase. in some cases people escape with the regular 'don't go there again, don't keep money on you, pray about it, etc kind of advice. but even with that if nothing higher or more desirous occupies the mind then the person returns to his old habits.

when a man lands his first job and it buys him that car he feels he has arrived but on seeing the chance for a better job that can buy him that dream house he loses the enthusiasm for that once awesome job and schemes on how to go about getting the next better job...so it is with addictions...I found someone higher and it's Jesus and it didn't stop there...all the best to you and him.

This might sound crazy but it's the only way out. Join a lot of sex chat groups on whatsapp or visit flirt and sexchat room on 2go to get naughty female friends. I have a lot of them. Anytime i'm free from work, like from 4pm, i go home, enter my blanket and go straight to errotic chats. After the naughty stuff till maybe 8pm, i sleep off till the next day. It's daily routine. It motivates me to work during the day because there's something to fall back to at night. If not, i had lost passion to work or learn after my ordeal. It's also better than betting 100percent because it kills depression, it doesn't make u bankrupt and it keeps your sanity intact.just me and my room from now on. Even if it takes my blood, i'll always refill with food and pepsi.

I know it's immoral and i'm doomed but it's far better than those who rob, kill, gamble with people's things and enter problems etc.

I quit betting like 2 months ago. I wasn't addicted though. But I did quit because the thought of winning started to become a burden to me

What I did?

I simply started spending much more time at work. I started to educate myself online on courses related to my field. Even when I have any #500 to throwaway, I'll rather go to a bar and take two bottles of Life beer than try my luck

My point is: Occupy your mind with activities that will make you forget gambling.
But in your case, you're occupying your mind with something that isn't resourceful. Why don't you use that data to watch something that will be productive and resourceful to you?

Why is life like that it's really painful when you promise yourself not to repeat an act and you see yourself eating your vomit. It's really painful.

it's good to know jesus helped you. Trust me, it won't work for those deep into gambling. Prayer won't make them forget the hurt. Either they get help of a comfortable life by a philanthropist or they get a stronger addiction.
