I personally thought fattening is done to women who are about to marry. Not new mother’s. It’s a common practice of Akwa Ibom and Cross River people. They fatten up the bride, so that she is fleshy for her husband before marriage. And I think they teach the woman how to please the husband and maintain the home.

I have one of the strongest mothers you can think of. She began running her family from her teenage years even before she married my dad. She had a lot of power in her marriage. But my dad never ever let her take the wheel. She has a lot of power and influence over her kids. Heck I used to work for her. But I asserted myself and got her retired from the business. I take care of her well but she cannot walk in my house and run my family for me. She tried once and I put her gently and calmly in her place. She's my mother. Not my ruler.

Grow a pair and defend your wife. Else you would loose both wife and mother. Your wife will resent you and you will resent your mother.

If you think letting your mother's interfere in your home is the way to keep your reputation and be on good terms with your mother, you will realise and realise very late that when someone has influence over another where they shouldn't, they ALWAYS abuse it to the total deteiment of the relationship between both of them.
