Some people(nigerians) believe so because the yorubas eat yams alot and stats shows they have more twins than any other tribe.

And please no more quarreling!

Cc: GoTV
The yams they eat to conceive twins are not the ordinary normal yams we eat everyday. undecided

Lolzzzzzz
Even in Igbo-Ora (the town with the highest number of twins in Nigeria), the illiterates there usually attribute the twins birth to a vegetable (morogbo) they eat not any special yam.

Hmmmmmmm
Let's focus on our foods here

No.1- Consumption of yam doesn't make you fertile. I am a nurse and my area of interest is nutritional aspect of human health. As a matter of fact, yam doesn't have any relationship with fertility. I have a set of twins (2boys) and I do not like yam AT ALL.

No.2- Any man that is afraid of his wife getting a particular job has COMPLEX. Such a man should watch it. There is no sane parent that wouldn't want the best for his/her daughter, be it married or single. If your wife loves you and you behave yourself, you will be the one to enjoy most in the relationship.

NB: This isn't directed to anyone. PEACE

You dissed me and think i won't respond. I'm dissapointed cos i don't expect this from you. No woman should earn more money than her husband if she wants peace in her marriage

But your position is not entirely true.
I think it's about the humans involved.
A person without too much money can choose to be a better person, and vice versa.

What you have or don't have shouldn't define you.

I urge you to change your thinking. That way, you will attract better people in your life.

If you keep having this mindset, it's not healthy for you.

Don't insult me o. Biko. I don't want to be tempted to return in kind. I'm talking to you from a place of genuine concern...

Academic journals have over time revealed that ehuru yams increases oestrogen and ovulation in non-menopausal women.
Keyword is increases the chances of having twins, not determines.
These women eat yam almost thrice every single day. They wake up to pound yam, eat roasted yam as snacks, boil yam for pleasure etc. Yam is their main meal.

So many times we ignore our own natural healing foods because science hasn't backed it. We forget that the white man didn't know a food like yam even existed till recently. Yam that is a staple food in all regions in Nigeria.
When my babies had this stubborn cough, my Ijebu neighbour told me to use palmoil and sugar for them and I got immediate relief after almost 3 weeks of using the white man's medicine. Another person on NL suggested ori and salt and we have seen it in prompt action. I have searched high and low on what component in these foods actually did the work? What chemical process took place in the mixtures? Nothing was found online.
Only till recently did we figure out that our pap will stop serious stooling even if it is viral. It has worked time and time again for me and my friends.
When I had a tooth problem and developed plaques serious ones , I used all usables and it was pretty useless until I remembered one of my Professor's academic journal where he compared even the best toothpaste to different types of chewing sticks. Off I went to buy some pako ayan. The rope-y bitter chewing sticks common in Yoruba. In less than 48hrs, ALL plaques disappeared! This was almost 10 years ago before all these herbal toothpaste came to be ( the journal was for a popular toothpaste company).
In our local food, therein lies the solution and so many mysteries waiting to be solved.
Did you also know that your regular omidun (corn steep liquor) or even the cassava steep liquor can heal a land plagued with oil spill?

I am a Microbiologist.
Research and problem solving are my strongest points.
I love eating yam but I don't have twins (I actually don't want them cheesy)
I could send the published academic journals if you're interested in some light reading.

I believe too that there are healing and health enhancing properties in our local foods.
We don't have to wait for the white man (science) to acknowledge it before we can appreciate it.

The people of old might not have been educated but they had wisdom, they observed more...(what they ate and how it affected them positively or otherwise)

So, most of the information we refer as old wives' tale are actually true.

What u don't understand is that men are naturally made to head the home. Once a woman starts earning or earns more than her husband she tends to misbehave. That is why i prefer the old school system where women are confined indoors to be full house wives while their husbands pays the bills. Why do you think women like Linda ikeji decided to be a babymama? Which sane man would marry such woman with enormous wealth? Do you think it's possible for someone like linda to be submissive to any man? Toke makinwa is another example. I have no regrets divorcing, i just get angry at most women who are becoming ingrates due to the fact that they are allowed to work and earn

Stop writing jargons to defend your ignorance. Yam is mostly consumed in Ekiti/ondo yet people of Igbo ora oyo state has the highest twins birth rate in Africa. This fable about yam is unacceptable. We have traditional meds before white men came agreed but eating yam to birth twins is ignorance. Heal yourself
