When we got to town , I had this little confusion of where to keep my dad, I thought about keeping him in my house and then taking him to Lina's house when he is about to leave for the surgery , but on a second thought , Hillary and Henry might come around too , and Lina's dad had said they will fly him that night .



I gave the driver some directions as he drove through to the federal housing estates , and he drove down to the big ranch house again , I took my time to examine the exterior part of the house again , the house is really beautiful .



I got down from the car , and then helped to take my father down with the help of the driver , I called Lina on phone  to come outside , I have been texting her while on the road.



"Good afternoon sir "... She said as she came out ignoring me .


" good afternoon my daughter , how are you doing " ... My dad acted cool for the first time with a female friend .



I was close to my dad , we do gist , play like mates but he never talked it likely when ever a female visits me .



" so you didn't see me " ... I let out .


"Please who are you , what is your name ?" ... She replied and gave out a sigh and then the laughter followed.


"Lina this is my dad "..


" dad this is Lina , my girlfriend "...



" its nice to meet you sir , I am sorry for your predicament, but it will get better soon , you will walk again ".... She was been so cool.


" its nice to meet you too my daughter , your kindness is worth beholding , and em are you pretending or are you this nice ?" ... My dad threw and we all laughed .


Now that's my dad .


"What about mom and dad "... I asked as we walked into the house , I was pushing the wheel chair .


" Dad went to meet with his pilot so they can run a check and service the jet if need be , erm mom went to her super market to check on sales , but she promised to be back immediately you are back " .... She said scratching her hair .



" ohh , that's cool , you will have to call mom then "


I pushed dad to the sitting room , and then helped him sit on the couch , and then the TV remote to find his favourite news channel , what again, he cherishes news  channels , he always comes with " so that we will know when to run and when to sleep comfortably " .



"I will call her asap " ... She said walking to the dinning " you guys must be hungry, we made fried rice again , let me heat it up again , and em take his bags to the visitors room "  ..



I took my dad's bag to the visitor's room , the room is just few steps from the sitting room .



" Dad call mom and inform her that we have reached ,please "


" if you call her and tell her, what will happen ?" .. He fired back .


" ERM okay sir , we ain't quarreling yet , are we ?" .. I teased him .


" we can't quarrel in another mans house " he said with a little laugh .


I picked up my phone to call mom while Lina served food for us , I helped dad to the dinning and after the meal , I helped her to the visitors room , helped him bath and then laid on the bed .


When I got out of his room , telling him to call me when he needs a thing .


I called Hills and Henry, I had missed them , when I call one of em I speak with the two of them , so I called Hillary.


"Hey dudes , whatsup ? "


" hey bro , we haven't seen you this two days , did Lina say you are too hot and wouldn't let you go out so that other girls won't take you from her "  Hills said


" maybe he was forced to marry her by the parents , nigga is so good " henry added



" you both are crazy , well I have missed you two , whats popping ,where are you guys "



"We are somewhere inside school discussing about Lillian" ... Hillary said .


"Does he know about Lillian , Henry "... I asked .

" we will catch up in school tomorrow then ".... I said .



Ohhh!!! I am late for work already , the day before was my off day for the week , I rushed and prepared and then as I was leaving I met Lina's mom at the door .



" Gabriel, where you going ?"..


"I am late for work already mom "


" you don't have to go "


"My boss will sack me ma"


"You are quitting the job dear "


" but ma...."


" don't but me , we will help your dad , and I will be sending you 200 thousand naira every month end for your care taking ".


I was lost , I didn't know the perfect comeback.

Days now , I have been along with Susan , nobody knows , we have been on low key , being in a relationship is a bit stressful but its fun , amazing , it makes me feel satisfied , her sweet texts , I get goosebumps anytime I read them .



My friends too , since Gabriel went to Lina's house , he hasn't being in school, Hillary always talking to one secret girl on phone that nobody knows .



"So tell me about your sister " Hills broke the silence as we sat at the walk way after the long chain lectures .



" why do I have to tell you ?" ... I tried to sound harsh to make him dump the topic .


"Calm down bro , take "... Brought out a paper .


" what's that ?"


"A chill pill , you need it "... He said , this guy must be crazy , but it was a nice try .


" we are brothers , and don't you trust me enough ?"... He added .



"Okay fine , her name is Lillian "... I said .

We talked about other things , watching girls walk pass the walkway and the ones with terrible makeups , we laughed .


We made a girl change walking steps .


After the day , immediately I dropped Hills off the junction , Susan called .

This would be our first date .


"Sure , what time ?"

I got home at some minuted to 6pm , I dropped my bag and headed to the bathroom , took my bath and tried getting ready for the date but what I will wear gave me real headache .


I opened my wardrobe ,yes I have clothes but that was a first date and I have to look extraordinary.


"What if she isn't dressing to impress , besides its just a casual date " ...I thought .


I settles for a black shirt and a black trouser with a black canvas , trying to look casual the best way I can .



At 6:45 , she gave me a call signalling that she was leaving her house already .


I left immediately I got the call, I found my way down to dollyhills hotel , I was there in ten minutes .


I walked in from the main door but I didn't see her , I was still standing , looking around when someone rounded her hands round my waist from the back , I know her scent .


"Cupcake "


"Prince charming "


She released her hands and then locked her fingers with mine and we went to sit on an empty sit , we sat on the same couch , she keeping her head on my chest and I stroking her hairs with my hand .



" what do you want " ... A voice came , the waiter , a girl who had unbuttoned her shirt to expose her cleavages .


" I want ice cream , just ice cream " I said, but the waiter wouldn't take her eyes off me .


"I want ice cream too " ... Susan ordered .


She smiled and then snapped at me again before she left .


" do you know her ? " .. Susan asked , I guess she noticed too.


" nope , I don't " .. I defended myself .


" Then why is she looking at  You like that and besides she is not dressing decently or she wants to just seduce customers , not my man "... She stated blunt .



Few minutes , she came back with two cups of ice cream . she placed the cups and then " hello" she waved at me .


" bitch , thanks for the service , can you take your leave now " Susan cuts her .


I relaxed to watch the drama .


" I don't know how you ended up having this hot guy to your ugly self " .. She said , I was moved but I kept my cool to allow her handle her shits .


"Its not my fault blame  that on your inability to make up "


"He doesn't deserve someone like you , I have a better shape " .. She said turning round and raising her voice a little dragging the attention of the next table .


"Okay fine "


The waiter was about to walk out when Susan called her .


" you don't deserve him too, you deserve this !! " ... She face masked her with the ice cream and creating up a scene.


"Next time don't make advances on my man " ... She shouted .


" how could you !!!?" The girl groaned .


I stood up from where I was sitting , and took Susan's hand and led her out of the fast food .


People were looking at us , and murmuring , some gave us thumbs up .


When we got out of the door I hugged her.


" you overreacted cupcake "


" I am naturally  territorial prince charming"


"Let's take a walk then "


" sure " ..

Lillian , came yesterday , I had invited her to come stay for two days , I have really missed her , since that wedding we have been couple on air , we haven't seen , we just call , text and sext if need be .

When Henry dropped me off at the junction , I boarded a taxi to the park instead of going home , when I got to the park , I went to the passengers relaxation hall .

"Hey you , you kept me here for hours "

She was in a beautiful red gown and looks stressed out , she looked taller than how she was when I saw her last , buy still with the worn out look she looked more beautiful .


" I am sorry sweet pie "

" you know am new to this town " ... She stated tiredly as she fell amidst my arms

"I am sorry , come let me take you home " ...

I helped her with her small bag , boarded a taxi and got us in my one room apartment .

When we were don't with the movie , I set up the ps3 , then selected the "blur " race .

She isn't that bad as she beat me in the first race , I beat her and beat her again , I was about to win the fourth race when she took my pad and hid , I watched my car stumble as she raced to glory .


" I spoke with Henry today , about you "... I said , not planning to spoil the mood but then I knew it was going to change her mood .


" my brother , what did you guys say about me " .. She said dropping her pad .

" about why you left the house and all those stuffs " .. I said as I watch her bend her head .

"I am sorry for not telling you all this " ... She said bitterly .

"  okay , when my dad disowned me , I packed my luggages to Samuel's house , on reaching there I met four legs on his bed and then his sweaty face owned two legs while a girl I know nothing about owned one, I was confused , I was heart broken , I didn't know where to go , I carried my bag , I was meant to leave town , I couldn't face the disgrace , I came across a lorry packed at the roadside, the driver was carrying  woods , I had just a thousand naira with me , the driver was checking in his tires , I met him and begged him to follow him along , after explaining my conditions , he decided to carry me , when we got to where he was to off load, that was after 5 hours , I got down , and then took on a road I never knew , the area was timid , more like a village , I met a girl , joy , the friend that invited me to your aunt's birthday , God being on my side , I explained everything to her and she took me to her family , I stayed with them , she was the only friend I had , I got a job as a sales person , and I was being paid 5 thousand naira , that was how I coped till joy was chosen amongst the bridesmaids and then she invited me for the wedding and then you know every other thing " ...

She stated , bending down , she was strong enough to narrate it I thought , till I noticed my shirt was wet of tears already .

"I miss them , I miss my family , I wish they can give me the chance to apologise, I wish they can give me the chance to show them that I have changed , I wish I can still race with henry , I wish I can still pinch my mom , gist with my dad and live happily again "

It got all emotional and I pulled her up

" don't worry I will help you get to henry , you just have to keep calm , it will get better " ...I assured her .

" you have tried so much for me darling , since I met you , I have known happiness again , but helping me get back with my family , that's the greatest thing you can ever do for me " ..  She said .

" I will get you to talk with Henry when the time is right " .. I assured her .

I turned on the home theatre.

I was not really okay with quitting the job , in as much as Lina's mom accepted to pay my bills , the need for independency was so high , nobody knows what happens next.

When Lina's mom entered to go and meet dad , I went upstairs with Lina .

"When last did you talk with charity and Christie." ...I asked Lina as I noticed its being long the trio got together .

"Its being long Riel, and they haven't called , unlike them , since I started dating you , they have been acting weird , so I let them be the least if my problems " ... She said scratching her hair .

"I need to go get some clothes from my house ,if I am going to sleep here again tonight "...

" you are going to sleep here, so let's go get the clothes then ".. She said reaching for her car keys .


We drove to my apartment and I picked two set of clothes , and we drove back as fast as possible so that we will be there when before dad comes back .


When we got to the house, it wasn't up to thirty minutes , dad came back .

" good evening sir "... I greeted as I headed to aid him carry his briefcase.

" good evening son , what about your dad ?".. He said as we walked together to the sitting room .

"He is in the visitors room "... I said before Lina came to welcome him .

" he should get ready , we are going to the airport very soon , you are coming with us".. He said as he went to the visitors room .

"Can't I come with you people too ,dad?" ... Lina cuts in

"Okay no problem, you all should get ready then "... He said before he let the hook of the door handle off its holder .

I and Lina went upstairs to get prepared .

" am I making up ?"... She asked looking a lil confused .

"Are you going for a pageantry ?" .... I asked with a small laugh.

"Duh.. I will do light makeup then "... She concluded and dashed into the bathroom .

After 15minutes , she was out , she headed to her mirror while I went to take my bath , I was done bathing and she  was still trying to put on a slight makeup .


I got dressed and headed to my dads room to get him ready .

" its 15minutes more Lina , let me go dress dad " I said as I left the room .


When I got to the visitors room , dad was dressed already , how he managed to dress up , I don't know , but he the clothe was not settled so I helped him with the adjustment needed .

"Every body done !?" .. I heard dad's voice .

I pushed my dads wheel chair to the sitting room , after I had helped him pack his bag .

"We are done sire" ...

"Where is little madam "

"Am here Mr senator " .. She said as she walked down the staircase .

Mom wasn't coming so she bid us good bye , and then she wished my dad good luck .

We got out and we used the luxurious bus instead of the small cars because of my dads legs .

Inside the car looks like a house , Lina acted so cool like it was normal to be in such car , I acted so much not to show the timidity in me but hell no !! , my eyes wouldn't rest , my dad didn't say a thing , maybe maturity was involved .

The driver drove us .

"From here to the airport is how long " .. Dad asked Lina's dad.

" its one hour drive sir " ... He replied .

" what is your take on the new president " .. Dad brought up the always boring political discussion .

" my dear , we don't want him on that sit , many of us will loose assets if he gets in the sit with this strictness and agendas " .. Lina's dad complained .


I took my ear off the topic with a very big sigh .

I looked form the windscreen and then saw two black jeeps racing after us and our driver had increased speed .

" you all should bend down " ..Lina's dad instructed ..

He was on the ground already, I rushed and helped to get my dad laid on the ground then , Lina was on the ground too using her hands to cover her ears as the gun shots increased .

"Driver please fast !!! , let me call the police " .. Lina's dad shouted .

I laid on the ground , Lina crawled into my hands , I held her tight .

The gunshots wouldn't stop , I don't really know why they were following us , but they persisted , they kept on shooting till they shot the car tires and then the car lost balance and then started to  Summersault.


When I regained consciousness , I saw the car on the other side of the road , police men taking records , I didn't see the black jeeps again , I saw Lina still unconscious but being attended by some nurses  , I saw my dad looking so confused like me , I went to help him up and got him on his well chair .

"Are you okay dad ?" .. I asked

" I am fine just scratchs "... He managed to say

" where is Lina's dad ? " ... I asked

" when the car was done with the Summersaults , the jeeps that were shooting stopped and two huge men led by a woman came and took him " ... He replied with head bent.

When Lina woke , I rushed to where she was .

"Are you okay? Lina ?" ...

" what happened Riel " ...

" they shot the car tires and the Summersaulted , and we passed out " .. I said .

She looked around the road , still sitting on the floor .

"Where is my dad!!!!"

"He was kidnapped " ... A voice came from behind .

"He was what !!?" .. Lina asked as I tried to hold her together .


" we will try our best to find him , I am mr dele , the DPO of zone 6 police station "... He said .

Three cars after us was the last thing I could remember , I regained consciousness in a room , a stuffy room that's in a basement somewhere I don't and can't really recognise , the room was scary , had just one window at the top that brings in little amount of sun rays .


I tried to struggle but I was hand cuffed to the chair I was sitting on .


"Don't even try to move " ...  A voice thundered .


" please let me go , I will pay you any amount you want , but please spare my life " .... I pleaded without even seeing who was talking , I only saw shadows .


Before I could open my mouth again , I was landed slaps upon slaps , blood left my nose and then he hit a gun on my head and then I passed out .



"Ahhhhh urgh!!!! Argh!!!!" ... I tried jumping up as they poured water on me , on my attempt to jump up , I fell on the ground and one of the muscular boys who was looking multiple in my not clear eyes carried me up  .


When I got up I saw a female  bossing them around , I could remember her .



" Grace " ... I said with my already fainting voice ..


" senator maxwell , you thought I would forget so soon ??, my dead mother won't forgive me " .. She let out an evil smile .
"Well I have come to have my pound of flesh , I have come to avenge her blood "



I could remember her , the day I took her mother from her , I had ordered my boys to kill her mom , she was a journalist that the state respected and a news from her could wipe me into jail , when I rooted the last 5billion naira I rooted , she got involved and was made to write to the state about it ,I tried to pay her off but she wouldn't collect bribe , I had no option but to get rid of her .

You don't really understand how torture works too , so I am gonna torture you single handedly , video you and then send the video to your family , so that they can feel  a little of what I felt, then I will let you die in pains " ... They tied me back and this the they sealed my mouth , and then she removed her coat, put on a mask , switched on the video camera  and pressed the hot iron on my cheek , I tried to cry but I couldn't because of the mastic , she kept on pressing the iron on every other part of my body till I passed out .

The events of yesterday keeps playing in my head ,fear grips me , I kept on crying , Riel's father whom was going to get back on his feet traveled back this morning .

I had checked on mom and she has been doing what she does best , since she came to the scene and met us , she has been crying uncontrollably .

Immediately a knock came at the door "it should be charity and Christie " I thought.

I stood from my bed , my face could show that I have not eaten , and the way my face was swollen, one can tell that I have been up throughout the night .

"I will come back immediately I dropped dad " ... This words of Gabriel kept on ringing , he has been trying his best to keep me same .

I took seconds and thought about, how she is fairing , I pitied her .


" hello Lina " .

To my utmost surprise it was Hillary and henry , Hills being the trios crown had a way of making me laugh , henry the matured mofo .

" How did you guys find me " ... I managed to ask .

"Who wouldn't find senator Max's house , by the way the securities queried the hell out of us before we got to this door handle so can you stop already ?" ... Hillary said as he pushed me off the way .


"Big headed fish " ... henry added as he tickled me .


I was surprised that it was coming from henry , Hillary didn't seem surprise , they are close friends and sure they should know that crazy side , but sure  outside  the trio nobody has seen this crazy henry .

" sorry Lina , we heard about your dad being kidnapped and we know this emotional Lina that people don't know , so we decided to come help you loose a little of it … hope you don't mind " ... Henry said as we sat in the sitting room .

I actually wanted this , but I thought charity and Christie would have thought of this since they knew me so well , they should have been here to cheer me up but friends fail .


"Was it through the news that you heard it , and sure you guys don't turn on to state news " ... I said forcing myself to laugh .


" nope Gabriel called us minutes after the incident , we couldn't come straight away so we had to make up for today " ... Henry said.

" that's nice of you both " ..

"Don't say , we are family ...duh .. Gabriel is brother " ..Hillary adds .

"So where is he ?" ... Henry cuts

" he ERM..." I remembered that they don't know about the dad " he went to the police station to help us make statement , he should be her in 3hours " ... I comfortably lied .


We started discussing , they were really of great help , Hillary made me laugh so hard , it came to an extent that I forgot my dad was kidnapped .

We played games , ran around the house . we played hide and seek , I had to find Hillary hiding under the dinning table , I never found Henry , nigga was like a ninja .


We made food , nope not we , Henry made food , sweet food , spaghetti have never tasted that better , I never knew he could cook that way , I only thought that Gabriel was the only male cook alive outside the ones that do it as a job .


" I am back " .... Gabriel walks in from the main door .

"Any info mister ?" .. Henry throws a question .

"No info yet sir " ... He covered up lime he knew I told them he went to the police station .

Then the thought of my dad crept  in again , its almost 24hours and we haven't heard anything , even if the police hadn't said a thing , the kidnappers should have called already to request for Ransome .

Before I could let out a sigh , I was crying already .

"Lina , you have been like this since last night , can't you just stop , we will find him , relax " ... Gabriel said as touching my neck .

The appetite lost , I just dumped the food and nodded .


"Relax Lina , he is safe , trust me " .. Hillary added .

"Sissy calm your nerves " ... Henry added .

He called me sissy , I was happy I had them around , charity and Christie wouldn't have done better .

Just then another knock and then the person pressed the door bell .

"Do you know who we have here " ...Gabriel asked after he opened the door .

"Who's that " ... We said in unison .

Susan walks in , cat walking , I was surprised , I nearly screamed wtf!!, but I didn't , I stood up go hug her .

"How did you find here , what brought you ?" ... I asked trying not to sound offensive , my curiosity was eating me up .

"So do you think senator maxwell will be kidnapped and then the mass media will go dumb ?" .. She said with a smile " I have come to help you out , I know how it feels , my dad has being kidnapped once , and you have been nice recently so?" ... She added .

"Susy what's up " .. Henry shocked the rest of us except me , I knew they would get along but if they were a thing I didn't know .

" am all good Henry, what about you  " she replied .

"Woahhh!!!" ... Gabriel exclaimed

"Is that Henry and susan " ... Hillary adds .


"I cant loath on her for so long , she has been crossing parts so its not bad talking with her , and see she is here too to cheer up Lina unlike charity and Christie , she has a good heart too , so "... I watched henry defend himself .

SUSAN'S POV

After henry had narrated on how Melina invited me to the party just so that he will talk to me , I picked interest in her , I wanted to be her friend, something I never wanted since secondary school but I felt it to be good .

When I heard that her dad was kidnapped ,I felt for her , in as much as she has given me a chance to be happy in life , I was going to be their when she needs people to cheer her up .

Henry texted me that he was at melina's house, he texted me the address after I told him I want to come , his last text was.

" we will act casual in front of them , they don't know that we are a thing yet , Lina might be suspecting but she does not know yet , no babe and prince charming names , see ya !!"

" let's forget all this and talk something better " .. I said and swerve the discussion even though the trio kept on with eye contacts .

We all discussed , they were really of great help , I don't know how I would have gotten rid of everything , even though it was not yet over but I had the assurance and then I didn't cry that day at least .

Mom came down in the evening with swollen eye , she had slimed down in 24hours , locked her self up the whole day without eating .

"Mom "

"Melina "

" it will be alright "...I said , going to hug her.

" it will be alright ma " they all added in unison .

My mom smiled , the first time that day .

We all forced her to eating , my friends made jokes and we all watched her smile .

When darkness covered , Susan left because her mom was calling already promising to come back tomorrow .

" what about school "

"Don't worry Lina , I can skip for you " ..

My mouth was ajar when she hugged me and left.

After about an hour , Hillary and Henry were leaving promising to be back the next day .
