Thanks alot Ethelia. Thinking about it now, I think it's concentration for the most part. I find that I also have a problem with the 'matching words' section.

Try this link for matching headings.
Just watching the video did the trick for me. Goodluck

It is well my dear. Just practice and practice again and again. If map is your issue try replaying the CD whenever you get to that part. Replay it until you get it and then continue. With practice you will see you will get better and won't need to replay again.

I think the first link did the trick for me. The very first map that tried describing the where the bank is gave me a good insight on understanding how these westerners gibe directions. Trust me, I am hopeless with giving directions. So what I did was let the tape play the first question, then I will pause it and look at the five pictures to locate the one that best describes the question.
For example: The tape goes:A. "Excuse me, please can you tell me where the bank is?" The man replies "it's opposite the supermarket at the other end of the street". I will pause the tape here and look at the pictures. That way I familiarised myself with phrases used in giving directions. It made it easier for me to practice other map questions and I did practice a whole lot. I hope this epistle helps.

[quote author=Matilda2609 post=69629888]Hello house. Am currently studying for IELTS. I try to practice at least 2 listening tests daily (I use ieltsonlinetests.com and Cambridge IELTS 12).
Am getting very concerned now. Never gotten up to a 36 (am always within the 28-32 band), in all my practice. How did you all do it?

Pls what could I be doing wrong. Can anyone point me to a good study material, so I can improve. Kindly assist. Thanks in advance. [/quote

tips that helped me score a 9 in listening. 1. those few seconds they give you to look at the next set of questions is crucial. i underlined definite words , key words like time, date, place, names, etc for example" ........will attend this year's carnival " i will underline.... this years carinval... why i do this is to draw my attention to the question and i know for fact that the word carnival MUST be said either exactly the same or in a synonym. Underlining key words helps you not to wander off also not to panic when the speaker goes on and on and you havent heard those words underlined....i hope you get what i mean.
2. the 10mins given to you at the end of the test is very very crucial as well. use 3-4 mins to transfer your answers to the answer sheet all in Capital Letters. and the remainder of the time, use it to go over your answers. your answers must be grammatically correct ... that means the answer must fit the sentence correctly. for example " we have diffrent..... at the library for rent". if the answer i wrote is MAP.. cause am sure i heard map when i go through my work MAP does not make the sentense gramatically correct... eg " we have diffrent MAP at the library for rent." but MAPS make the sentence gramatically correct, besides the word "diffrent" is a clue that there is more than one map for rent. another example .. " we should meet up at......... answer i heard or could pick is LIBRARY . inserting only LIBRARY doesnt complete the sentence structure... there should be a prefix before the noun. THE LIBRARY makes the question/ sentence complete/ gramatically correct.
3. there are 4 sections during the listening test. figure out which section gives you issues. mine was 2 &3. reason was my concentration will begin to waiver by section 2 and 3 . i realised that for section 1 i was ready for the test but by section 2... i am still wondering if all my answers in section 1 are correct so all my attention divided... this is where underlining keys words during the few seconds given before the section start Helps... because if forces your concentration back to the section at hand. thats all the tips that come to mind now.
oh yea... one more... print out at least one or two listening test.. it should prep you for how the test is actually written.. this way you can underline, listen, write. finally as others have said practice only makes perfect when you learn from your mistakes... ask your self what you did wrong and how you can fix it. All the best!!!

Hello Canadian Family,
i have got 2 questions. please your answers are appreciated.
1. through out (NYSC) Service year i worked at a law firm. thereafter, i worked for another law firm for 1 year. subsequently, i was recurited as a law officer for my current Employer. i worked in that position for 3years, though i got promoted 3 times in those 3years in the same capacity ( from officer to assistant manager). late last year ( that is my 4th year with the company), a new department was created in the marketing division and i was made head of the department ( though i studied law i am multi-talented ... lols). what do i choose as my NOC @newmum0615... please help.

question 2. while i was working full time i gained admission to do my MSC full time and i completed the Msc while still working full time. does this timeline affect me negatively? if it does what should i do?

thanks in advance! and yes it will all end in praise!!

Good evening House,
In accounting for the 10 years in my personal history, there is an overlapping period of 2 years in which I ran a part-time Masters programme while gainfully employed...

It is not an issue. You can include LOE if that will put your mind at rest.

How did you make payment to WES? Did you use your naira debit card or western union. Also among WES, CES and IQAS which would you recommend for someone with UNIZIK certificate?

Would it be wise for me to Use WES or IQAS to evaluate my certificate?. I finished from Nnamdi Azikiwe University

Either. Unizik is very efficient with transcript and verification processing. You can PM for a contact.

Still thanking God i found this thread, its been so so helpful. Pls everyone shd help with questions below as I'm planning ahead to avoid "had i known stories". Thanks

1.Please how long is UK Police Clearance valid for? Getting my docs ready while studying for IELTS. Should I apply for it now or wait till post ITA?

2. If you worked in the same company but different periods with a gap in btw (say 2013-15 and 2017-18), is it okay to use one reference letter in CIC format stating both periods (same NOC) or should it be two separate letters? Not getting this now...just clarifying

3. Read from one or two post that bank reference letter in CIC format alone is accepted without statement of account. If this is so, does it mean there'll be no need to worry about Gift Deeds (part of my POF)? My bank is Ecobank by the way....
