@Fluxview: Your contribution to knowledge is highly commendable sir. Pls send me these study materials on Electrical Power as well as Instruments and Process Control to my email votsparklig@gmail.com.
Electrical engineers should take note of this question before going for an interview or practical aptitude test. if you do not know 85% of the answers now as your reading it for the first time then you have work to do on yourself. Because of the nature of our university system(un experience lecturers with little or know industrial knowledge) and poor industrial training program, most of us graduated without knowing that these questions are the key to nailing any interview in electrical power section(instrument and process control will come later).
i can only vouch for AEIT for now wrt practical training.

1= What is the different between a solid state relay and an electromagnetic relay.
2= Why is it that an electrical motor using 480VAC is runs on a star/delta circuit.
3= Draw the control and the power diagram of a direct online motor.
4= What is single phasing of a 3 phase motor.
5= What is the function of a relay, contactor, and overload relay in a motor circuit.
6= what is the full meaning of MCB,MCCB and OLR
7= Name five part of an AC motor
8= Know your motor calculation, viz a viz slip. efficiency, speed.
9= How do you reverse the direction of a DC motor.
10=How do you reverse the direction of an AC motor.
11=what are the causes of a motor overload.
12=The speed of a motor is determine by what two factors
13=What is the different between synchronous and asynchronous motor.
14=Explain the operation of an induction motor.
15=How effective are you in the use of megger meter and analog/digital meter.
16=What are the different type of motor overload protection devices and how are they connected. such as fuses, OLR, MCB, MCCB, phase failure device, under current device, etc.
17=what do you understand by Power factor correction, what are the types of power factor correction and why is power factor correction important. etc.
18= Add more electrical motor question that you have come across in the interview.

everything having being said is know your motor, transformer and practical basic electricity very well.
note that you do not need to answer all the questions being asked in an interview but you need to answer a quite number of the question asked to your best, keep it simple and clear but before you get to this stage, your cv should speak for you.
consult other trends to learn how to write a very good cv.

i have 4 pdf and an electrical maintenance video to give out to those who want it. i have had my day, struggle to get here, made sacrifices, waited resources in search of practical electrical knowledge. the key is NEVER GIVE UP. [size=18pt]one of your best aid to learning is www.youtube.com
there are so many short videos to explain most interview question.

It's been a long time now, hope you would still be available to show a lost sheep the way,
At 27yrs of age, HND final student of Electronics And Telecommunication Engineering.
The school system isn't helping matters as am seriously kissing focus, Lecturers ain't interested in educating but extorting you, most have nothing to offer, coming to class just to fulfill all righteousness, Now I cant proudly say am in final year for there is nothing to show for it,
project is all about money, even the lecturers would direct you to someone who constructed theirs when doing their PHD that's if your supervisor did not monetize it.
Good in in house wiring conduit and surface, had some training in hospital equipment maintenance which opened my eyes to the field of Biomedical engineering which contributed further to my confusion in choice carrier,
Struggling to pay my fees and pull through school hasn't helped either, cos being absent in school worsens the predicament.
Now at final year I can't seem to find my bearing. Don't know what's next for me, where to pitch my tent nor the carrier to pursue.
Satellite Comm engineer has always been my dream but considering the lack of finance, the Nigerian concept ( useless education system) and my age I don't see it being actualized.
Pls I need your advice am already lossing it.

Emasel:

Not true bro. Electrical Engineering is the most sought of all the Engineering disciplines and there are so many opportunities opened to you as a graduate of Electrical Engineering especially if you make a good grade.

I had to lose a year in the university to study EEE and I've never regretted it.

Wishing you the best in your endeavours.

Mechanical is the most sought after Engineering discipline not Elect/Elect.

bataderemi:
I'm just wondering what else EEE graduates in Nigeria do apart from being in the Oil and Gas industry. Not that the industry is bad but it seems limiting in that it is not exactly 'electrical'. Say one is more interested in electronics for example, what are the chances of being able to do anything meaningful in Nigeria
thats because the money is the attractive factor for eee engineers and not finding solutions to problems.
