So because e played for sunshine means he played in the npfl ? How do you watch your football ?

As Madrid won the champions league why didn't they share medal to the Madrid b seems they are all Madrid players.

So benzema go call Barcelona b player him team mate abi ?

Besides you are lying as omeruo didn't play for sunshine,he played for hard foundation before joining standard liege second team in 2010

We are talking about he who pays the salary. We are not talking about who gets a medal because there are people on Madrid's first team who didn't get a medal, yes or no? Coutinho would have gotten a medal if Liverpool won, so your point is dead on arrival.

Kenneth and his brother Josiah both played for Sunshine stars. He was outright their player, they made the deal with Chelsea.

Sometimes we hear comments like this 'player X' is on Barcelona's books. This means player X has a contract with Barcelona. But why is this comment made instead of describing the same player simply as a Barcelona player?

This is the difference, you CAN BE on Barcelona's books without playing for Barcelona BUT you cannot be a Barcelona player without being on Barcelona's books.

Was Ezekiel Bassey ever a Barcelona player or just on Barcelona's books?
Is Omeruo a Chelsea player?

Let the debate continue. grin

The qualification format for u 17 Africa championship (andultimately the world cup ) is so unfair to west Africa the traditional powerhouse at this level. It has been regionalized meaning countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Mali and Burkina Faso now have to fight for just one ticket.

This is really a coup on West Africa by CAF.

Tactical, not most entertaining or technical. Besides the Seria A last season was quite entertaining. Teams like Inter seem to be back on track with good signings. Roma are signing talented players and Napoli just got Ancelotti. It'll be even more exciting than last season

Tactical meaning a lot brain work and re-strategesing non-stop...Tammy is all hit and run....kpum...gwooo....thats all....roughshod...brute movement....no craft nor guile...no bench in Italy is for him. We wait till they hit the same number of matches...opportunity matters...Look at Steven Gerrard..already a coach..but Sol Cambell still languishing despite having better coaching certificate...Scottish Premiership may be equivalent to English Championship...lets watch...

Nna eee the thing pained me so much...how could WAFU allow such? West of African is always powerhouse in age football in Africa and the world..doing Africa proud each time...all the age group world cups won by Africa is from West Africa bar Cameroon olympic team...anyway we wait for the results...

It's a lie. He played for Sunshine with Godfrey Obabona

Chelsea starlet Kenneth Omeruo reckons that he has a good understanding with his central defensive partner Godfrey Oboabona, having played with him at Sunshine Stars of Akure few years back.

Also, the Nigeria manager Stephen Keshi was a center back during his playing days and his handouts before national team matches make his job on the pitch easier.

“I do have a good friendship with Godfrey Oboabona off the pitch, we talk on Skype sometimes. Before the national team I used to play with him in the Nigerian league with Sunshine Stars.

Even Mikel Obi played league games with Plateau Utd.

Our dad encouraged all of us to play, he used to be a player himself, he played for Gombe United or so. Mikel started from Igbo league and then to Plateau United while he was still in secondary school. From there, they had a friendly match with the Under 17 National team here at the Jos township stadium and he played very well. That night, one of the coaches came looking for him. I told him that my brother was sleeping but he asked me to wake him and my father. Later they gave him the address of the hotel they were staying and invited him to join them. Even before he joined Plateau United, my father encouraged him. He however told them to be careful with him so he doesn’t break his legs......

Tony, Mike's Elder brother.

“Football is real business now, hence the need for us to encourage players to showcase their talents and become millionaires.
“Plateau United was paying the likes of Mikel Obi less than N20,000, but today, as young as he is, he is already a millionaire, if not a billionaire....

This was agitated for by countries in the southern part of Africa. They felt their kids are not getting to show case their talents and get international exposure at a young age. South Africa especially lobbied for this. By the time they embarass themselves on the world stage, CAF will have a rethink.

I raised this alarm on the U17 thread earlier this year.

I don't know if truly there is anything called WAFU. Because how would they agree to such a devilish arrangement?

The same way they lobbied to get 2 automatic spots in the senior world cup should Africa get 9 slots in the 48-team tournament.

This is just a ploy to shortchange West Africa.

What really surprised me is that our very own Pinnick and that disgraced Ghanaian FA chief were all a party to this.

Tammy isn't all "hit and run". Watched a few of his games for Chelsea's reserves and some for Swansea. He has good link up play which is massively underrated. His first half performance for Swansea against Arsenal convinced me he had something there.

Everton winger Henry Onyekuru has confirmed the interest of Valencia.

The Nigerian is currently on-loan at Galatasaray.

"It is true that Valencia is interested in me," Onyekuru told Fotomac.

"I liked this fact, but now I am a player of Galatasaray and I do not think this deal can take place."

The 21-year-old has hit the ground running in pre-season for his loan club, scoring two goals in three games in preparation for the 2018/19 campaign.

Nice one!

I guess Joel Obi and John Ogu as well after the AFCON.

Odion Ighalo could still be in Rohr’s good books after all. You know how Rohr be.

Icon4s:
The end of every world cup usually marks the end of a particular era of players.

After the 1994 World Cup we saw the last of some players:
Steven Keshi
Thompson Oliha
Chidi Nwannu
Sampson Siasia

After the 1998 World Cup we saw the end of some players like:
Uche Okechukwu
Ben Iroha
Austine Eguavoen
Rashidi Yekini
Peter Rufai

After the 2002 World Cup we saw the last of:
Mutiu Adepoju
Benedict Akuegbu
Ike Shorunmu
Likes of Oliseh, Finidi and Tijani were kicked out of the team ahead of the world cup

After the 2010 World Cup we saw the last of:
Yakubu Aiyegbeni
Danny Shitu
Sani Kaita
Chidi Odiah
Kalu Uche
Nwankwo Kanu

After the 2014 World cup we saw the last of:
Joseph Yobo
Shola Ameobi
Osaze Odemwingie
Emmanuel Emenike
Ejike Uzoenyi
Austin Ejide
Michael Babatunde, Michael Uchebo, Uche Nwofor and co.

Now the 2018 World Cup has come and gone. Are there players that we may have seen the last of? My predictions:
Brown Ideye
Odion Ighalo
Elderson Echiejile
And the following may still be in the squad for the next AFCON but not likely to make the next World Cup:
Mikel Obi
Daniel Akpeyi
Ikechukwu Ezenwa
Leon Balogun

Strictly my opinion. You can share yours on the post 2018 World Cup.

Came across an interesting stat - Alex Iwobi (12), Iheanacho(9) and Ndidi (7) played more through balls than Eden Hazard last season.

I watched Tammy against man utd and less than 15 mins he gave man u defence real trouble and De Gea was forced to make three critical saves.

The guy is better than Sadiq as at today.

If you have connection in Jos, ask and get the information you seek for. Mike's family house was about opposite the Rwang Pam stadium. He was a proper Plateau Utd player. Although, he padded up his age a bit.

John Michael Nchekwube Obinna, commonly known as John Obi Mikel, is a Nigerian footballer who plays as a midfielder for English club Chelsea and the Nigeria national team. He started his official football career at the age of 12 when he was picked from over 3000 young talents playing in the Pepsi Football Academy. He has come a long way since then. Obi has always stood out, owing to his impressive style and technique. He got picked to play in the top-flight team Plateau United, and made headlines for his country at the FIFA Under-17 World Championships held in Finland.

I can even mention the league game that brought him to national prominence. I think his brother, Ebere who I know very well was the captain of Plateau Utd at the time.

Due to his stand-out football abilities, Mikel was soon picked to play for Local club Plateau United, famously making a debut for them at the age of 15 years.
