Let me start by thanking all the gurus of this great thread, you guys rock. Thank you so much jnyuwa02 and Frankrobbn1 and the guy that made that list on the first page, God bless you guys.
I make a special prayer for you today Jnyuwa02, as you have been a blessing to many People on here, God Almighty will perfect everything that concerns you in Jesus name (amen).

I started my journey late June and had to read close to 50 pages of this thread within a week.

I got all documents and applied July 10. My application to Canada was a last minute try. I had a 2:1 in business but the only school I could find as at late June was Fanshawe college and I picked PGC logistics and supply chain management (LSCM), got admission and paid first term fees.

Documents submitted - Paper Application - submitted July 10

All IMM forms

My personal statement of account - mum transferred over £16,000 in 3 tranches via an agent.

A sponsors letter from my mum - I actually wrote this letter for my mum ( I saw sample on the first page) and strongly emphasised how she has been the one who sent me to do BA in UK and paid for 4 years without owing. I made sure this letter was not more than a page and straight to the point.

- Letter of explanation (LOE) from me - I detailed the course I was going for, focused on how I have had a good record in the UK, no criminal convictions and always obeyed the rules. Also mentioned how I never missed classes for 4 years and completed my studies without any issue. I stressed on how I love challenges, stating how I moved from Nigeria to UK alone (culture change, new people et al) and how I would love to try a new challenge in Canada and try education over there and then concluded with, once I am done with the PGC LSCM in Canada, I would come back and take over my mums company. p.s my mum owns a company in Nigeria.

I wrote my LOE myself using the sample on the first page and then sent it to my brother who is a PHD holder to proof read for errors. I Told him I am satisfied with the content all I needed was proof reading for errors. If I remember correctly, I made sure my LOE was not more than 600 words.

- birth certificate, my passport page, mothers passport page, C of O of my mothers house, CAC documents for my mothers business, proof of payment of first term tuition fees, BA certificate, transcripts.

All these documents were photocopied and no original was collected at London Canada VFS office.

- no medicals (not needed for applicants in UK) and no Police certificate.

The things that scared me were;

(1) I forgot to explain the lump sum. I honestly cannot tell how I forgot to explain this after reading this word for word before submitting my documents.

(2) Difficult convincing the VO in my SOP why I would be leaving UK with a 2:1 with the option of doing masters here in UK in a university but decided to do PGC in Canada when the fees were almost the same? To make matters worse, the course is a very common course in UK in almost all Universities.
Infact, my application was screaming this guy wants to run away.

(3) I am a matured student - 31 years.

(4) I also forgot to show my USA visa (still valid till Dec 2019), Dubai stamped passport page.

After I submitted, I fasted day and night for at least 9 days. I have never fasted more than a day in UK in my 4 years of being here. This whole process taught me many things I will never forget.

Finally let me say this, on 10/08/18 (Last week Friday), I listened to a convention online by Pastor EA Adeboye and once he was done with his sermon, he asked everyone to stand up for prayers. Just before he asked people to pray, he paused and suddenly said
"the lord said there is someone here, that one breakthrough you need for your joy to be full, receive it. Something in me told me that word was for me, I jumped up, claimed it and kept on praying with it.

I sincerely pray for as many that are still hoping on God for their visas, your joy would also be full before this month runs out if you believe. this whole application is just Mercy of God. p.s I am not saying don't put in work, put in maximum work, put all documents and then pray.

Thank you to wheyme, galala123, lagos2canna, bismo, ezriela, mightyola, shizzleadedapo, bbclue and every other person. I am so grateful.

Seeing this for the first time. Thanks for the info.

I did as you suggested with my medicals and it has just been updated as "Passed".

I also emailed my School like you suggested and got a rather harsh response, stating they won't be able to give me more time to hear from CIC regarding my application.

So i might have to defer the second time.. sadly

jnyuwa02:

I have answered this question before you are not listening that is all. Review of eligibility is almost never started and it goes back to pending. Possibly a few of your documents needed to be further vetted and it went back to that department. I know some people here told you that it is a glitch that will correct itself within a few days. That it has not corrected itself after one week tells you something else.

It is well everything happens for a reason! You can only defer till fall 2019? As far as you get the TRV is all that matters.

jnyuwa02:

This guy has extensive travel history, so he is not a clear case study for study gaps. Study gaps of 10 years usually beg the question that at such an age, is the applicant a genuine student or simply using the student permit as a way of entering Canada for other things other than studies and not leave when his stay has elapsed. I think this applicant clearly answered that question in the affirmative by his extensive travel history of having abided by the immigration law of numerous countries he visited. I know a few people with 10 years study gap who clearly showed progression in studies and still were denied. That tells you that it is not simply a question of academic progression, but one at the heart and soul of the genuiness of the applicant’s intention to study and depart. A person with 10 years study gap has to do significantly more to succeed than say someone with a 1 or 2 years study gap. All who have 10 years study gap do themselves significant good in concentrating in showing in their SOP or in other places, their devotion to learning and reason to beleive that if the privilege of a study permit is extended to them, they can be counted to study and excel and leave at the end of their studies. I think this person you referring to did all these in effective ways. His extensive travel history of having never contravened his purpose of visit to other countries, made his job earsier.

I know why I gave you the name Attorney! because you will surely come attacking me to make sure you win the race. Despite the advice I gave, you still persisted and now have based it on travel history being the key factor to the applicant visa approval. All I know is that study gaps with relevant work experience in proposed program is not a reason for a visa refusal once the applicant SOP is well analyzed and detailed. I won't go further debating on this matter.

Pls, I did upfront medicals and same has been updated as passed since last Wednesday and eligibility review commenced just immediately , but since then I haven’t heard anything . I thought eligibility review doesn’t take longer than 72 hours if upfront medicals have been updated.

Pls what could be wrong my Ogas

And pls, can I send them mail for update on my application as it has also passed the normal 9 weeks just yesterday at the time of submission of my application because my school resumes by September .

Pls advise me accordingly. Thank you all

It should be clear to the applicant at this point what route he chooses to go and the end result will bear it out. I don’t come here an attack someone, I point out a truth as I see it in my professional opinion. Whether it is you or anyone. The law is not simply something I picked up yesterday on NL, but a profession of mine for many years. Cheers!

The things that scared me were;

Congratulations!!! Eyah... I feel like crying (tears of joy) cry cry cry my testimony will be the next IJN! (Amen! )

Hello everyone, Greetings to you all.

Please this is going to be my first time posting here.
Am 23 yrs old, graduated last year October B.sc Computer Science with a 4.79/5. Currently on NYSC, and would be through this year October.

I read the whole of part ten and currently reading from the beginning of this part 14.

I intend applying for a research based Masters in computer science with funding. After searching through the list of universities in Canada n their tuition fee for CSC.

I intend to apply to MUN, UBC, USASk and Queens university this September when admission application for fall 2019 begins.

However, MUN and Queens require contacting/getting a supervisor before applying.

My question is how do I go about this and when should I begin to contact them. And I hope my lack of work experience wouldn't be a disadvantage in getting funding?
I saw the links on "tips on contacting a supervisor" on the first page of every new part.
I have read it, and don't know if I just have to do what is written their alone, or if there r some other things I need to do.

Am just trying to be very careful and not make any mistakes. Your replies would be appreciated. Thanks.

Please any student from UBC, USASK , MUN or Queens university? Would also like to get in touch and ask for information regarding admission.

Thanks

I know why I gave you the name Attorney! because you will surely come attacking me to make sure you win the race. Despite the advice I gave, you still persisted and now have based it on travel history being the key factor to the applicant visa approval. All I know is that study gaps with relevant work experience in proposed program is not a reason for a visa refusal once the applicant SOP is well analyzed and detailed. I won't go further debating on this matter.

I'm confused! I saw someone mentioned applying with letter of explanation and statement of purpose, I thought the required document was letter of explanation which everyone here referred to as statement of purpose.

Letter Of Explanation is what the visa office requires. It will do well to adhere to instructions. Choose one, Statement Of Purpose or Letter of Explanation. Not both. You won’t be denied if you use both. Visa Officers are burdened already with unnecessary documentation and you make your situation earsier to understand by keeping it simple, straight and to the point. Using both is unnecessary.
