Well... when I was in school that was not available. I have looked into the organization that owns it and it doesn’t look professional but who knows. I wonder how many citizens will be willing to co-sign on a loan for a non-citizen when the gbese will be on their head if the non-citizen runs away. Not a small gbese at all o. Most especially when the chances of getting a job after school as a non-citizen or green card holder is very low. Very low chance of paying back.

Well how long ago was that ? Private sector loans do like discover and they are pretty legitimate . Like I mentioned , a international student can get a student loan , the amount of them that actually get it is another story . Co-signing is risky business for anyone . Many American citizen co-sign for fellow citizen who don’t pay back.

Let us assume that I am indeed exaggerating. Will you be humble enough to accept that you are actually underestimating the impact of being illegal in America? What joy do you derive from being in America when you cannot go visit your family in Nigeria or even move near the border? How do you feel living in fear everyday, knowing that you cannot get an education or apply for a good job? How do you feel when your younger brother in Nigeria secures admission to a good school in the US with scholarship, but is denied a visa because you, his older sibling, went there and turned illegal (family history)? How do you feel when you have to hide from the cops daily in order not to be caught? How do you feel when an employer refuses to pay you your wages, but you cannot do anything because you know you are illegal? How do you feel when you hold fake IDs and social security numbers daily, all because you need to survive? How do you feel when you hear that your mum back home suffered a terrible illness, or your sister just got married, but you cannot even visit them for a minute, even if you have the funds?

Let us not underestimate the physical and psychological impacts things like this can have on a person. For the die-hard, strong-hearted people here, things like these may mean nothing to them. But to me, it does. I would rather stay in Nigeria than live such a life here.

Having said that, did you just say that no one will bother them if they do not go into any type of fraud? What is working without authorization in the US? Is that not a fraud? Will an illegal person not have to resort to working without authorization, or how will such a person survive? Will they not have to make fake IDs and fake SSNs just to get these jobs? Aren't these frauds? Will they be spared if they get caught? What exactly are you trying to say?

Okay, I give up. All your points and concerns are very well taken.

I wouldn't advice even my worst enemy to subject themselves into living in any country...even the worst of countries like Sudan or even Somalia with illegal status. One's rights to that country will always be limited and will always be with conditions.

The point I think I was trying to get across is that some people with determined and hardened hearts will still prefer to live in a country they see better off than where they have rights to even if they have to continue to live on egg shells till they die. Some even think that at least even if they do not get to enjoy all the benefits of legal status they are doing it for at least their kids to not be born in the same country they are running away from.

As bad or worst you might see it they dont see it the same way.

Thanks, bro. I'm glad someone knows I'm not trying to discourage anyone from travelling to another country. I just want people to be well prepared before making such a move.

Good, I wish more people would learn too. People can home here and live a pretty standard life if they do so legally.

All the things you mentioned so far doesn't change the fact that if US give a day visa to average Nigerians they will prefer it than staying in Nigeria that is d bitter truth.all this epistle will not stop Nigerians from leaving naija to usa either they have paper or not simply because if you can survive hard life in Nigeria then all the things you mentioned doesn't bother this set of people

I know such people. No one is saying they shouldn't come. I'm only saying they should plan well before coming. Hopefully there are some people reading who will start planning well before coming.

Exactly, apart from jobs, how do they get to drive and get their own accommodation. Even if you work under the table, you will be subjected to low wages( under minimum wage) and expected to work a crazy amount of hours. How long can one sustain that for? Even if your doing it to secure your children future, what happens if the parent is deported and the young American citizen children are left behind and no-one else is available to take care of them. We have been seeing more cases of that especially with Mexicans.

visa application is not d issue. The issue is dat some of u guys come here to give false info. Like ur colleaue who was countered for exergerating. Same as some days ago some claiming to be in US was saying that TOFEL was what was required to gain admission. When i countered by saying a candidate needing to study in US or canada need to sit for SAT if he's going for a degree programme or if he's going for a Masters he has to sit for another exam(i have forgetten the name ) he said he hasnt heard of SAT.This was coming from someone who claimed he studied in a US college oo and he's working there. He has never heard of SAT. The admission officer in one or the schools i applied told me that its only non english speaking countries who sit for TOFEL and since i am frm nigeria i dont need TOFEL. But the nairalander said it was only europe and south africa who was exempted.what do i know? Maybe u guys could even be illegal immigrants forming posh for all i know.

Please stop lumping everyone together and know how to differentiate between different posters. I don't have any colleague on here so I don't know what your talking about. I can only vouch for what I say and google will become your best friend if you know how to research. Why are you worried about the US? I thought you said you do not have any plans to come to the US. Your post don't make any sense at all.

Thanks for including the fact that you won't even be able to drive if you are illegal even if you have 1 million dollars to buy a car. I didn't even know this. There is a lot of suffering if one is illegal, but you become these people's enemies if you tell them. All they want to hear is, just come to America and everything will become paradise for you.

Yes the DMV in a lot of states require showing proof of residency in order to receive a driver license. Please let come, they can come and pick fruit on the farm. A lot of farm owners say they need help here lol.

Wait, let me just quickly correct some of your statements. Every school in the US has its own admission policy, so there is no unified process for it. And there are over five thousand schools here. Some very good schools do not even need any SAT or TOEFL from you, and they have no application fee. It's all free and easy, and it will only take you few minutes to turn in your application online. There are schools that require only SAT, some require only TOEFL, and some require both. It varies from school to school. Some need you to evaluate your transcript through WES or similar agencies, and still submit a bunch of test scores. Most likely, such schools are highly standard and give huge scholarship. The people you communicated with gave you information based on their own experiences with their own schools, but it's different in every school.

You don't need to sit for SAT to get into some schools. With just your waec result, scratch card, bio page of your passport, soa and affidavit of support you will get admitted into some schools.

This is actually incorrect, about 12 states(California, Maryland, Illinois etc) in the US issue driver's license or driving permits to illegal immigrants. Let's at least verify information we put out here (like they say..."Google Is your friend).

I'm not endorsing(not that anybody needs endorsement. ..lolxxx) illegal migration though, just wanted to chip that in.
