[quote author=sheke01 post=70245339]My travel and POE experience
I left Abuja for US on at 22:15 saturday 11th August. Since school resumes 13th August I had to leave a week after getting approved. We had a 12 hour layover in Frankfurt before jetting off to JFK New York.
Aside the time spent on the queue, I did not spend up to 2 minutes with the border control officer. Only my i20 was requested and only question asked was that I was going for studies which I answered in the affirmative.
My next flight to Cleveland was from LaGuardia airport. I stood outside JFK enjoying free wifi and communicating with family back home. I had prior information that New York taxis were really expensive and so I didn't try catching one. Someone had told me to use the metro. So as I stood by the corner chatting with peeps and enjoying the scenario of NYC at night, a man dressed like a security personnel with a walkie talkie walked up to me and asked me if I was waiting for someone, where I was going and how I planned to get there. I told him my plans of using the metro and he said I should follow him and he would direct me to the spot where I would catch the metro and that the next metro was the last for the night and I had to act fast so that I can get on it else I would miss my flight. So he crossed the road and I followed him, and he pointed to a spot and said that's where they wait for metro.
I stood there for a while and began to feel skeptical. The spot looked isolated and more of a car park than a metro pick up spot. Within a few minutes a luxury car pulled up and the driver shouted "Metro for LaGuardia airport". My spirit no carry am at all. I told him no that I'll just wait for my friend. He tried persuading me and I suddenly recognised him as the guy that directed me to that spot in the first place. He had hurriedly changed to a Polo Shirt. I left him, began going back to JFK, i then saw some guys at a corner laughing. I then realised that i almost got scammed. I followed some Chinese people and took an elevator up to an air-train station where I took a free train to Jamaica station. From there I paid $8.50 for a metro card that I used to get to Roosevelt Avenue sub way station, from there I used the same metro card to get on a bus to LaGuardia airport.
Am finally at Cleveland and I called a friend IN Oaklahoma and he told me how he fell for that same scam in January and how the driver told him he had a faulty meter and charged $400 to that same LaGuardia airport which he later begged and paid $110.
The hustle is real everywhere. Shine your eyes. I hope someone learns from my experience and don't fall for this bunch of scammers[/quote
That same guy told me the air train closes by 12:00am. He charged me 190$ after which I insisted I do not have such an amount. He actually dropped me at terminal 8. Although he later agreed $10 but after getting off the SUV, I noticed I could not find my $100 bill. Perhaps I mistakenly dropped it in his ride when trying to pay him. The scene was really scary for me. They were 2 guyz. People beware of these guyz in JFK new york.

He was quite pissed when i told him the embassy declared it fake. He insists its legit and wants me to follow it up
GboyegaD:

You have not confirmed to us if the statement is genuine otherwise. This makes it difficult to advice.

I will suggest you appeal the decision of the embassy instead of re-appearing. Ise the hand written note stating as a fake as your basis for wanting the case further opened and investigated. Sta nd on your position that the documents are genuine.
If possible, get your uncle to insist that the bank write and minute on the initial statement and include it as one of your justification for re-opening the case.

There are coach buses in JFK that goes to the other airport.... that would have been a smoother journey. Guess we learn everyday

Hello house! Please I need help from those who have been through what I'm experiencing at the moment. My interview was on July 25th in Abj. I was placed on Administrative Processing for nearly two weeks and when I checked the CEAC site on the 6th of August I saw 'Refused'. I felt really bad, can't lie about that but I didn't know the scary part was incoming. I went to pick up my passport and besides the pink paper, there was this white paper attached and there was one part where "Fake bank documents" was handwritten. My uncle who's also my sponsor kept assuring me that the statement of account was legit even though I asked him twice before I was refused. I can swear anyday, anytime that I had no idea the statement wasn't legit. Throughout my school days I no even get mind carry expo enter exam hall not to talk of presenting an altered statement of account to the US embassy that is thorough. I don't have one fraudulent bone in me. The problem is I don't know if I have been banned cos the VO warned me I'd be banned if the statement isn't authentic. Please what do I do now? I'm so confused and in a very bad place right now. The US embassy is not a place you can walk in to iron issues out. I sent a mail several days ago and still no reply. Some people are encouraging me not to wait too long before trying again so I wouldn't look guilty (with a different sponsor tho). Others think I should just give it time before trying again so I don't look suspicious when I bring two different statement of accounts from different sponsors within a short period of time. Please anybody with an idea should feel free to chip in. If you have been through something similar and you don't want to say anything here, please email me. I feel lost right now. PLEASE HOUSE, HELP.

So sorry. This is how my trusted uncle gave me a fake SOA also in July. I trusted him so much that I did not expect him to do such to me. If not for God who made me have this feelings of verifying the account. I tried checking out the account number by doing a mobile transfer from my phone 3days before my interview. Behold, the account name on mobile app was entirely different from the account name on the statement of account, even though its same account no. I queried him and he was like "eehm aburo, the embassy don't use to collect it, just go there and be smart, they won't collect it, they will only check."

That is when I knew family people can be evil. I had no choice than to reschedule my interview to spring, get a new sponsor (my parents this time) and request for new I20.

This is just a wakeup call for everyone. Don't trust most of those uncles or agents. They will lie to you that they have money in their account, they will tell you it's original statement. Always take a further step to verify documents authenticity before taking them to the embassy

Evening Guys.
My visa was approved on 18th July. I left Nigeria on 13th August.
This is my Travel experience. It's coming late because I've had issues with accommodation since I arrived.

I traveled with Royal Air Maroc. We left Nigeria 6:05am On 13th of August. Got to Casablanca around 10am. Disembarking the plane, and the check at the RAM desk took a few minutes. I have to say at this point that, if you don't understand French or Arabic, you're going to have a hard time if your layover is in Casablanca.

Anyway, I got lost and couldn't locate the lounge. RAM also extended my layover time from 5 hours to about 9 hours without prior notice. It was very frustrating not locating the lounge, no food, no wi-fi and no familiar faces. I just located where we were supposed to board the Next flight and just stayed there. I sha cannot lost.

We eventually left Casablanca around 9pm, and arrived JFK at around 11PM American time. We spent about 30 minutes before we could disembark, then we stayed at the queue. The guy only asked where I was going, did my biometrics, asked if it was my first time, stamped my passport and wished me luck at school.

I almost got scammed by a cabman sha, but I found this nice Igbo man who helped me book Uber with his phone and I safely arrived at my hotel, NYLO in Manhattan. Spent a few days in New York, even took a sightseeing bus around town.

School resumes on Monday sha. Playtime is over. Trumpland is sweet.

I'll say this sha, if you're not strapped for cash or can stomach plenty wahala, don't take Royal Air Maroc o.
congrats oooooooooooo....chai....i pray i get this oppurtunity too next year

What can I do?

Lol,bro chill. I do not think the problem is from your SOA. It is from the embassy themselve,am affected too. My interview was on august 15 but was rescheduled to an indefinite date due to a problem at the U.S embassy in abuja(is that where u applied?). Most likely, they will resume after the holiday which is on thursday next week. So my best opinion is for you to put God in this first, and report to your school today immediately about the problem if you have not.

Bro the truth is that they are tired of hiring this generic reason. Tell them simething like what your course of study will do for your bank. How you want to use this new knowledge and add positively to the growth of your banking system and rank top among other banks. Browse about banking systems. Banking is far from my field of interest so I cant say much about it. Post mock interviews for criticism and review here. Hope this will help in a way. Thanks.

I know. Was wondering if anyone who had their interviews between 11-14th at the Abuja consulate have received their passport. I was at the Abuja designated pickup point in Wuse yesterday. Wanted to ask if they had received any new batch of stamp passport since the closure announcement was made. They said they have not received any new batch of passports from the consulate since Tuesday. So I am guessing all activities are grounded till the consulate reopens. Was hoping that paper work and other necessary documentation would continue inspite of the closure.
