I hope you understand my view and this happens to be the view of many Ndi Anambra that prevention is better than cure!. A big gully don't happen over night but it can happen only if the govt & its officials are not responsive to their job of planning and safe guiding our environment there by wasting billions of our scarce resources!. It cost less to plan and safeguard the environment by creating artificial lakes and planting trees arround the state more especially in erosion prune areas than lack of it!.... INVEST NOW FOR A BETTER AND MORE PROSPEROUS FUTURE! Udo dili Ndi Anambra.
All the visible erosion sites you're seeing today started many years again if not decade, Ansg has done some degrees of work in some threatening erosion sites just that most of the projects failed after some years or months while few survived . Controlling of erosion its not an easy project and it can collapse even if the project is handle by julius berger and the likes. Just this afternoon as i was watching channels tv programme on environmental matters(it may even appear on news this night) A community called ukeh in edo state are losing their ancestral homes and farmlands to gully erosion, i was moved to tears when i saw one old women seriously weeping because erosion has already surrounded her compound both front and back making it hard for her to access her house. Edo state government was aware of the disaster but said they will nothing about it because its raining season . But in Anambra state, the governor in conjunction with world bank are currently tackling erosion that stretches from omagba to ogidi not minding the implications.

Though more preventive measures needs to be taken in environmental management in Anambra ,i will still commend Ansg because they are trying.

Innoson has a major catchup to do with upgrading his workshop and use of PPEs to meet with required standards. Just look at the high level of safety workshop practice abuse in that video. Folks in a factory environment without their steeltoe safety boots on, am sure they wont use sparkwatcher while welding. All these can easily be corrected by employing an experienced EHS manager and the rest becomes history.
More than half the workers in that video were putting on slippers, not even covered shoes but slippers .........ordinary slippers ooo, in a factory environment. Who does that?

If I here? to win an election in Nigeria, u need to be in the preferred political party of the people. Closing the open gutters in Anambra will cost so much money and there are many more projects that are more important than closing up gutters like paving all the roads in the state, adequate and efficient supply of potable water, connecting the rural communities to the power grid etc. We even need to start tree planting before we commence the covering of the gutters.

Clean environment must always attract investments which in turn provide revenue base through taxation to tackle those important projects. If you are in doubt, study Rwanda.

Brother investnow2013, I recognize that effort on that video, but no matter how much resources(even in billions of dollars) committed to emulate Rwanda, that investment will yield more than 100 fold return on investment back to the state. I have been around sixty years on earth travelling the world in most part. Paul Kagame of Rwanda understood this secret right after the genocide, that the pathway to rapid transformation of Rwandan society lies on two critical factors...(1). Good security architecture which is already in place here in Anambra. Economic GDPs or IGRs are calculated based on daylight economic activities only, good security allows you to double that calculations by an added night economic activities....and it worked perfectly for Rwanda. (2). Clean environment. FX inflows into the state among Igbos in diaspora alone(Anambra indigenes to be precise) will reach ten billion dollars year on year probably for the next 30 years and beyond without Anambra state government spending a dime on a campaign to invest back home. And pls, don't dispute this figures because I am an economist and base here in Atlanta...member of some Igbo organizations. I can't reveal all the facts, but one thing you have to keep in your mind is that the quoted figure is inter-generational now(our children are making big money and they are not abandoning us). Clean environment primarily means in this instance, cover the gutters, cover any open earth(or plant trees..flowers), innovative ways to routinely paint the buildings. Road markings 100% . waste to energy generation, thank God the governor is looking into that. I understand the liberation philosophy that guides his policies, but the esoteric knowledge on cleanliness of the state must involve death and sacrifice if needs be. The magic worked for Rwanda and it must work for us by any means achievable. Proudly our people all over the world will troupe in with their forign friends & associates with no shame(you don't have to spend a dime on tourism advertising).

Good move.Looking at that picture of 6 well dressed folks with one shovel and one plant, not much trees left in a bag or something to be planted tells you a lot about the scope of this exercise. However, If only the can plant enough trees in this exercise instead of planting just 2 or 3 trees and call it a day.

If they can plant at least 1,000 trees in Awka along the roads, in Open places, at Kenneth Dike Library, at the Teaching hospital, Nnamdi Azikiwe university etc, then they would have made a positive impact with this exercise.

God bless you.
Anambra State government pay only lip service when it comes to environmental issues. Many illegal sand dregding is going on in the state but the ministry of environment dont care about. They claim to be planting trees in Anambra but the stretch of Atani Road from Uga Junction to Calidon have no standing tree. Look at those space at Upper Iweka that the state should have planted more trees look like a Sahel region with sparsely trees.

If Anambra State is really serious about environment they should first control human and vehicular movement around certain areas and plant trees there. Anambra State should barricade Upper Iweka to Obosi flyover with metal fence on the road meaiden , then build pedestrian Bridge to cross the expressway so that people will stop crossing the express anyhow, after controlling indiscriminate movement they will plant trees around places with less human activities.

if people stopped touching, marching and kicking planted trees they will grow faster. Imagine Lagos with all her human activities and population has planted almost ten million trees according to the ministry incharge of it.

Anambra will plant ten trees and they will buy space in major newspaper to advertise it, once the poor trees are planted nobody monitors the growth.

NOLLYWOOD NerveCentre soon to relocate to it's roots in Anambra.

The Honourable Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy met with drivers of Nigerian Movie Industry (NollyWood) at their temporary base in Onitsha, today.

Present at this timely and all important meeting were leaders of all regulatory bodies in the movie industry, comprising Sir. Osita OKEKE(OSSY AFFASON)- BOT chairman, Film and video producers and marketers association of Nigeria (FVPMAN), Rob Emeka EZE (CEO, Reemmy Jes Production, a marketer), IGWEMBA Emeka (FVPMAN Chairman in Onitsha), Mr. OKONKWO Chidi (Sec Gen, FVPMAN), Sir. Benjamin OKAFOR (BOT member, Music Product Dealers Association of Nigeria-MPDAN), John Mackius AGBO (member FVPMAN), Ifeanyi AZODO (President, Association Of Movie Practitioners inc.AMP), Godson Uzor NWOSU (member, FVPMAN), Chimdi CHIAMA (member AMP, member, Directors' Guild Of Nigeria-DGN), Chief Peter S. OBIMDIKE (chairman, Music Producers And Dealers Association of Nigeria), Mrs. Lizzy UWAEZUOKE (National liaison officer(South) of National Film And Video Censors Board-NFVCB) and ONONIWU Chidiebere (NFVCB).

The group through it's BOT chairman and other contributing members raised their concerns and challenges, chief among which is the issue of funding and profiteering, encouragement of investors, government incentives and an enabling environment for NollyWood to thrive again in Anambra. He went further to state that siting a film village in the state will go a long way to ameliorate these enumerated challenges, and assist in telling our stories to the world through movies. According to him it'll once again, relocate all IGRs and jobs in entertainment to Anambra.

In response, the Hon commissioner for youth empowerment and creative economy, Hon Bonaventure Enemali, told the gathering that governor Obiano's interest in creativity and his belief on its impact on the economy, if well harnessed, is second to non.

He stated that for this reason, His Excellency deemed it fit to create a tailor-fit ministry and a corresponding supervisory council to chisel out a creative way of engaging the youths and emasculating poverty.

In furtherance, he said, "the government is all out to incorporate all stakeholders in the state into government schemes, and would provide tactical incentives and support economic success for investors. He urge them to without delay, relocate to Anambra state to engage creative talents and empower the youths.

It has never been this good in Anambra.

AGRICULTURE: ANAMBRA STATE HAS ARRIVED.

Dear Readers,

In Omasi, Ayamelum Local Government Area today, I saw and I believed more.

NOW JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICTURE BELOW...

This is Afor market in Omasi in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State. The community is now the biggest producer of OKRO.

Okro is a vegetable that delights every household when prepared very well with Ogbono and good "TOZO MEAT, KANDER, & WELL SMOKED CAT FISH". The taste of a sumptuous delicacy of this nature can best be imagined.

Interestingly, the Anambra State Government had ensured that you have good access road to the Community that won't take up to 30 minutes drive from Aguleri Junction.

A basket of this Okro as at today in Omasi is sold at #400, #500 and #1000 at most. YES...!!! They are that cheap. What is just required is the market. Travel to the community, get those items to the urban areas and make your money and even possibly export. The Government has done their bit.

Do you know that, young graduates who are at home without jobs with little cash can now travel to this community and bring these items to the markets where their prizes could be doubled...?

These and many more are what the Gov Willie Obiano government has done.

CAN WE FOR ONCE AS A PEOPLE SAY A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR GOVERNOR...?

ANAMBRA IS SERIOUSLY MOVING FORWARD...

A city is like a woman. If she is beautiful and we'll mannered she attracts rich men if she is ugly and raw she will draw poor men. Kigali and Nairobi draw more international investment than Lagos. Their streets are clean, people are well mannered, trees are everywhere and they have 24 hour power.

Anambra should aim to do the same. Clean cities up you.will see sophisticated investment not just people selling torches out of wheelbarrows.
