Gold Winning Technovation World Pitch Girls Arrive Nigeria

The victorious Nigerian Team that won Gold at the 2018 Technovation World Pitch in California, U.S.A (Junior category) arrived Lagos tonight aboard a KLM flight.
The wining team, all resident in Anambra State and made up of students of Regina Pacis Model Secondary School, Onitsha had won with their app which will help detect fake drugs.

Speaking exclusively to Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), the team comprising Rev. Fr. Vincent Ezeaka, the principal, Regina Pacis Model Secondary school, Onitsha, Uchenna Onwuamaegbu Ugwu (Team Leader, Coach, Mentor and Founder of edufuntechnik.com), Adaeze Onuigbo (15), Vivan Okoye (14), Promise Nnalue (14), Nwabuaku Ossai (14), Jessica Osita (14) and Miracle Igboke (16) said they will be traveling back to Anambra State immediately to celebrate with their families.

They thanked Nigerians for celebrating them over their win, especially His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano, Governor of Anambra State for his moral and financial support to the team.

The team said they were not downcast that there were no fun-fair or federal government delegation to receive them at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos and said that “If people did not come to receive us, we will cheer ourselves up. At least we have made Nigerians happy. If Nigerians want to appreciate the team in any way, they are welcome”

Kudos to these girls and good job to all the people that supported them. State government, Catholic Onitsha diocese, the lady at Edufun Technik. Education is serious business. Good to see them starting young in the field of technology.

I love what he is doing but I would have preferred a smaller but more beautiful building. A tall glass building in the village looks odd to be honest. He could have build smaller multiple structures and state can use it as school of medicine and related courses.

Anambra overdue for FG’s 13 percent derivation as oil producing state – Hostcom

A group, Host Communities of Nigeria (oil and gas producing communities), Hostcom has called for explanation over the whereabouts of the crude oil drilled from the recently discovered wells in Anambra State, saying that the state was overdue for the 13 per cent derivative from the federation account.

The group, while briefing journalists at the weekend, lamented the federal government’s stand that Anambra cannot benefit from the 13 per cent derivation as an oil producing state, because its oil was not in commercial quantity yet.

National chairman of Hostcom, Dr Mike Emuh, while briefing journalists in Awka after a meeting of the Anambra chapter of the group, said the reason for refusal to pay Anambra state its 13 per cent derivation was no longer acceptable.

“If they say the oil in Anambra is not in commercial quantity, then they should tell us what has been happening to the quantity drilled from Anambra. Even if it is one drum, we demand to know where it goes. Have they allocated Anambra oil wells to some powerful individuals? If at all oil is being drilled from Anambra, what happens to the money they sell from it? I tell you, Anambra is long overdue for 13 per cent derivative paid to all oil producing states. Even Lagos where oil was discovered just the other day is now enjoying 13 per cent derivative, so why shouldn’t Anambra?”

Emuh wondered why the federal government would dismiss Anambra’s demand for payment on the basis that the oil was in small quantity, yet foreign oil companies have rained stationed in the area, drilling its oil for years. He described the discovery of gas in Anambra as a blessing to the state, saying that while oil was fast depleting in quantity in Nigeria and the price shrinking, gas has remained high in price.

“Oil is going, and gas is coming. Gas is now the major frontier of oil business, and with the discovery of gas in Anambra, it is supposed to be a major boom for the state.”

The national president said Hostcom comprised of all host communities of fields where oil and gas have been discovered, and that its aim was to promote peace in their individual areas and engender peaceful and harmonious living between expatriates working in the oil fields and their host communities. He further tasked the federal government to consider siting one out of the 10 modular refineries proposed to be built in the country in Anambra State.

Oil is being exploited in Anambra and is being sold, with the federal gov't obviously taking its cut if not they would have shut down operations. Now when Anambra demands for its 13%, the federal gov't that has benefited from this exploitation will turn around and say Anambra is getting nothing as the volume is not in 'commercial quantity'! You see how they use useless grammar and tricks to deny Ndigbo their due? And our useless elite are keeping quiet about it, while some are falling over themselves as they rush to go join APC...the very same group of vipers that are cheating and hating on them!

Lagos got their own 13% easy...without even breaking a sweat, but with a Igbo state suddenly the rules will change! If the volume is not of commercial quantity as they claim, then why doesn't the wicked Buhari gov't leave everything for Anambra to exploit and sell on their own?

I so hate this country, and i doubt this sentiment would change anytime soon! It's political-economy is set up to favour a few (mainly two groups) while cheating and marginalising Ndigbo!

LAP Urges Ndi Anambra To Embrace Think Home Philosophy

Ndi Anambra has been urged to embrace think home philosophy and invest at home, in order to maintain a sustainable development in the state.
Members of League of Anambra Professionals, LAP, gave the advice while speaking on ABS Phone -in -programme, 'Issues" in Awka.

The League of Anambra Professional, LAP is an association brings Anambra Professionals in every field of endeavors together, including Doctors, Mechanics, Lawyers and many others in order to harness human capital effectively to provided development in the state as well as create progressive socio-cultural environment that will provide massive wealth and job opportunities.

Speaking during the programme, the Past President of LAP and a Geologist, Mr, Chike Nwegbe, underscored the need for investors from the state developing other parts of the country to bring home their wealth to ensure even and robust development.

While describing Anambarians as industrious and resilient people, Mr. Nwegbe lauded the efforts of Governor Willie Obiano for his quality good governance in all sectors including ensuring adequate security and fast elevating the state to higher level.

Also speaking on the programme, the Public Relations Officer of the Association, Mrs Kasie Abone, noted that the Association provides atmosphere for skillful persons to come together as one body and make Anambra champion among other states and reiterated the importance of reorientating the people on core value system .

A caller to the programme, Mr. Chidi from Ogbunike, supported their initiative and charged Ndi Anambra to embrace the Philosophy

Agro - Industries In Anambra Asked To Register With State Ministry Of Agriculture's E-Agric Control Center

All Micro, Small and Medium agro processors and fabricators of agricultural commodities in the State have been advised to register at the Ministry of
Agriculture’s E-agric control centre located at the Headquarters of the Ministry at the Akwata-junction, ADP building Awka.

A release signed by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export, Mr Afam Mbanefo says that the exercise is to enable the State government’s agricultural export desk develop and build linkages with agro off-takers, investors and financial institutions for necessary interventions including the upcoming Central Bank of Nigeria Funds for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

The release maintained that the registration exercise which commenced yesterday between nine o’clock in the morning and four o’clock in the evening is free and on first come first served basis.

This is actually what happens when gutters are built in such shabby way that water cannot flow into them because the edges are higher than the road level.

Our people must realize that without gutters, our roads cannot withstand 6 months of rainfall. Also when gutters are built so shabbily that the edges are higher than the road level and water cannot flow into them, then it's almost as if there were no gutters and the same effect will happen on the roads.

We need to take gutters seriously or these types of occurrences will always happen.
