You people are funny with all this choice of school bullcrap. His transcript went well, and by now I think it should be obvious that sometimes all you need is another trial, so are you suggesting he should go change school, and change his narrative thereby risking a possibility of complications. As long as your school is accredited, and you damn well know what you’re doing, one or two trials is enough to get a visa. Stop with the unnecessary importance y’all attach to ranking. I’m sure if it’s about rankings, by now everyone will know that. Your school can be an Ivy League schl, which is a plus, otherwise all you need do is sell yourself. Like the VO said, try again, he should do so, be consistent and pray for some luck, Lobatan.
I am considering what my next line of action should be.. All the same, thanks for your pointing out some useful tips.

Yes you can defer to the spring term even after getting your visa. All u need is a new i20 indicating the spring term and there won't be any issue at the POE
Thanks

Yes,this is the best advice so far. But can it work that way?
Only a VO can ascertain .... but you can say if comes up you are working with the school on an extension and then go trouble the school in extension even if it just 1 or 2 weeks more

First you need to decide on the course to study based on your future plans. I don't really know much about the prospect of mathematics but I believe data science is booming right now and the prospect of job seem high. Do your own research and check the bureau of labor statistics website to see things for yourself. Graduating with a first class will really make things a little easy for you if you complement it with a good GRE say >315. Please don't go and apply to one nonsense school with your first class, dream big, aim high and do your part. However spread your risk from high ranked schools to mid ranked. Forget about cheapest schools and concentrate on getting a good GRE score. All things being equal, You shouldn't pay a dime for tuition if you get a good GRE score to complement your GPA. All your energy right now should be on researching for good schools and how to get a good GRE score. The post below will give you an insight on the procedure.
nice

1. Tell your friend to make this thread his new found companion.

2. Nobody can guarantee him any chance only advice can be given if he does the next step

3. He should come here and post his interview transcript: questions by the V.O and his answers.

Good luck to him

Did you write GRE? If yes, tell them the exam you wrote and why the other was not required for your admission.

Yes, you can defer your admission and request a new i-20

I beg to disagree with you. His denial has got nothing to do with ties. He already indicated that he has a glorious job which he intends to resume after studies. He is married too. Apparently, his denial has nothing to do with ties. Sometimes all that is required is the next attempt. Altering his DS application now on choice of institution will spell greater doom, EXCEPT he's targeting Spring 2019.

Therefore refire bro and pray for a more lenient VO.
I only stated my observation. You also said your bit. The applicant has the yam and the knife.

The decision to refire is solely his.

You'll need to post your interview, so the house can know where the problem is.

I don't see anything wrong with your profile save for the fact that you're 32 and your aunty will be the one sponsoring you. I'm not saying it's wrong because I've seen people on this thread get their visa irrespective of whether they've gotten to the "standard" age where they're seen as total independents who can foot their own bills but I've also seen people denied for this sole reason.

It could also be your level of delivery and confidence.

Like I already said, post your transcript so the house can help.

Did you write GMAT or any other standardized exam?
