Approval Alert! Long Post Alert Too.

I applied on July 26th online. I received a medical request August 8th, I did it the next day in PH. My medicals was updated as pass earlier today around 11am, and about 30mins ago, the approval and Passport request landed.

Msc, McGill University
Documents submitted.
My Sponsor is my Fiancée's Sister. I submitted her personal and business' statements of account (She is a small business owner), with a combined balance of about 13 million naira after she has transferred my estimated tuition fee for 1 year to me (1.2m).
Sponsorship and affidavit of sponsorship letter.
CAC documents of her business
My Fiancée's and my Sponsor’s birth certificates and my Sponsor’s International passport data page (single travel history to dubai).
Sponsor’s family picture of about 8years ago showing me at her convocation ceremony from the University (My Fiancée is in the picture too).
My engagement dinner picture with my Fiancee.

SOP(2 pages)
Resume (It shows my two research publications in international peer-reviewed journals and my current project)
Statement of my long-standing Mutual funds investment account with ARM (1.4m current balance).
TOEFL Result (I wrote it last year for another purpose, McGill didn't require it from me, but I sha submitted it anyway in the rush)
Offer letter from McGill.
CAQ approval letter from Quebec.
Email approval of my Differential Fee Waiver Award from McGill (This DFW allows me to pay tuition and other fees at Quebec rate which is about 1.2m (4120 CAD) instead of International rate which is 19820 CAD).
My NYSC call-up letter, and PPA posting letter (I am currently a youth corper).
My MDCN Annual Practicing License.
My birth certificate, University degree and Transcript.
Parents' and my 4 siblings' birth certificates.
My retired father's landed property and valuation (I didn't do deed of transfer). Valued at 8m.
My father's RSA statement as at when he retired years ago. Balance was 4m.

I was denied Visa twice in the space of a month last year to go and present one of my research work in New York. Also, I was denied a UK visa this last May to attend the Commonwealth Youth Forum as one of the youth delegates representing Nigeria at the last concluded CHOGM in London. I had another paper to present early last month in London too, however, I couldn't even dare apply for a visa again, so I begged one of my co-authors to make the presentation. He already had a UK visa. I have never travelled out of this country before as an adult so my passport is Virgin.

I didn't pay for Tuition, McGill generally doesn't allow you pay tuition until you have both your CAQ and your Study Permit.

I thank God for His mercies, as I didn't know I will be applying for the study permit until days before that July 26th. But God practically fast-tracked my approval. Thanks to @jnyuwa02 and @frankrobben for their immense contributions to this group. I arranged my documents in a hurry based on their back and forth on this thread from day 1.

If their is anything to learn from this my divine grace, is that no two applications are the same. And to always say the truth too. I explained all my visa denials and I filled in the TB part of the application that I recently managed a patient that was diagnosed of Tuberculosis under my care and I was in close contact with him as his Doctor for weeks. I didn't know how such information could have affected my application, but I couldn't bring myself to lying about such exposure while I was filling the form.

Last last, I Thank God!
Hi, Please am I required to submit GRE results to get admitted in McGill? Also, how did you make it possible to pay domestic fee instead?

Since you’re just applying, a copy of your transcript is what they need. It’s when you’re offered conditional admission that you have to make a request for your school to send your original transcript. Is it winter session you’re applying for?

What if your school doesn't give out student copies of transcripts? One of the schools I attended will only issue transcripts to institutions directly. They don't hand it over to students. What do you advise in such a case?

If you don’t have your transcript, you can use statement of results (that’s what I used because my school doesn’t release official transcripts to students). Explain what you mean by one of the schools you went to...do you want to apply with two school certificates?

I have a first degree and a masters degree. My first degree university gives transcripts to students while the second degree university does not, no matter how you explain.

Does one need to pay #11k again for submission of passport?
No, I guess the 11k is for courier service (so his passport can be sent to him when it's ready).....with that he doesn't have to go back to VFS for collection

I beleive the documents to submit on online application is pretty self explanatory after you have signed up and opened an online profile. Admission letters go where admission letter is suppose to be. Evidence of financial support are your bank statements, school receipt payment, letter of sponsor support or any scholarship letter. They have their own area. Then your CIC forms go where indicated. Every other document including your SOP go to the Client Information section.

Just a personal question. Am a mobile app developer and I would like to know if freelancing on a Masters student visa is illegal I.e accepting project from people in Canada and outside Canada since I have some existing client in Nigeria . Have searched online but am not getting a straight answer because I found out that even in US, putting your application on Playstore or ios market and getting money from it on F1 visa is illegal. Does that apply in Canada also. Please guru in the house

How does your mobile ap help F-1 visa applicants and how can that help Canadian visa applicants as well? Need to know so I can tell you if your freelancing would also be illegal in the Canadian context.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by dedecoder: 10:50pm On Aug 26, 2018
Dear brother (hopefully, I'm correct), worry not yourself on your freelancing job. It is never an illegal business anywhere in the world. That you are having Canadian clients won't affect your chances of approval. Include it and back it up with relevant and available shreds of evidence.

Just to allay your fears. I'm a freelance writer too with clients in the US and Australia. Since what I'm doing isn't criminal or unlawful, why shouldn't I let the visa officer know? Won't that explain my study gap for the past two years? Except you have real reasons to fear, please go ahead and include it as part of your work experience. If earning from an application on iOS or a particular platform is illegal, I believe that as a Mobile app developer, you would have known. As such, if this is the case, refrain from towing that line (and probably stop it altogether).

By the way, the important aspects of your application are

1. Proof of enough finances

2. Proof that you would leave Canada after your studies

3. Purpose of visit.

Every other thing apart from these 3s are _jara_ Start working on these things and stop worrying on your freelancing job.

Shalom!

Good evening guys.
I am totally new to nairaland, but I hope to get solutions here... I applied for a study visa, but I was denied.
The reasons they gave me were racist in nature, but then I hope to reapply for the same purpose.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your travel history.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of
residence.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.

Those were the reasons. I am not sure I totally understand the 2nd and 3rd reasons. I need explanation from anyone with idea of what they actually mean. Again, since I am thinking of reapplying, I need advice. Thanks.

it brought out the fee $150 for me to pay. I haven't done Biometric before. Please what do i do in this case.

Same situation here, I applied since August 03, still no Biometrics letter and I was charged CAD$150 application fee too.

I think they've stopped adding the Biometrics fee to application because of the new 10yr biometric duration but I don't understand why it's taking so long to request the Biometrics.

I contacted them using the webform more than a week ago, still no response or update yet.

It takes at least 10 days for the web forum to get back to you. Write Lagos it’s a heck a lot faster for Lagos to look into the problem and get back to you. If you are for winter resumption, you have nothing to worry about, the problem would be sorted out in due time. Here is lagos’ address:

You're to download and fill Application for study permit made outside of Canada imm1294, Family information imm5645, Schedule 1 Application for a temporary resident visa imm5257. One you get in the cic site and select study option, scroll down you see a blue underlined place showing get all forms in lower casing. Download the forms there. Look at the forms you're filling carefully because cic wouldn't treat if a wrong form is uploaded
