I got Air France to London with a 45 minutes stopover in Paris for 167k. Lagos/Abuja to Paris is 6hrs. Paris to London is 1hr 20 mins. You can check that as well if you are looking towards affordable rates and early arrival.

Kuwaitboy:
Hello. I am considering booking a flight to London. I like shorter flights. Emirates and Turkish are cheaper but long. Lufthansa is just 9 hours but about 45% more expensive. Please I need suggestions from those with experience in this route.

Hello Mimilyrics and other gurus in the house,

My brothers is being sponsored for his masters programme by his employer (a local company) here in Nigeria. He submitted a bank statement (to his school) showing a huge sum (his tuition and maintenance) transfered to him by his employer and was asked by the school to send in a confirmation letter from his company to prove they made the transaction.

Now, he has gotten his CAS, but the school instructed him to submit his employer sponsor letter, his appointment letter and had leave letter during his visa interview.

I will like to find out if these are really necessary as he already has his 28 days bank statement and the money is availaiable for him for his studies. I feel like all these will delay his visa processing because the said company is not an international company.

You have a point.

I understand you perfectly. I understand the basis for your answer.
Nairaland experience has taught me that there are folks who prefers to be spoon-fed with info.

The truth is, the person who asked this question was only trying to do one thing:
Have his cake, and Eat it.
One has to give way for the other.
You want cheap, you take a longer time.
You want short time, you get expensive.
It’s as simple as that.

1. Your brother was expected to have read the guidelines as pertains to sponsorship.
2. Since the company has transferred the money to your brother’s account. He has allowed the money to ‘sit’ in the account for 28-plus days, in HIS own account.
Why then was it necessary for him to mention that he was being sponsored by a company? What good does that information add to his application?

3. Let me ask you a question, in order to fully understand.
Was it the school that asked your brother about the source of the huge money deposit? Or your brother on his own was the one that “volunteered” the information to the school about the source of the huge money, vis-a-via sponsorship?

Yes, the school asked him. The reason is that he started counting his 28 days from the day his employer transfered his tuition and maintenance to his bank account so his statement showed the huge sum of money his employer transfered to his account. They questioned his source of fund

According to the T4 guidelines, you don't need to show the source of funds in your personal bank account as long as what is there is enough for his tuition and maintenance. All you need to show the UKVI is that the funds required have been in the account for 28 days counting from the day the opening balance reflects the requires funds.
To the school, he can get a letter from his company but he won't be needing it for UKVI: let him just print from the day after the money hit his account because that is the day 1 of the 28 day count.

Thanks alot Mimilyrics.

He had a UK visit visa refusal late last year because he did not submit his bank statement together with his application. He was going for a business meeting as a representative of his company and he submitted the bank statement of his employer who was sponsoring his visit. He had declared his salary (120k) but omitted his bank statement. He is thinks he needs to account for his source of funds and is afraid whether this would have an effect on his Tier 4 visa

It may be worth it having these documents on hand and including the sponsorship details in the additional information section of the application form. If he has to take an extended interview, he will certainly be asked about his financial circumstances. If the school advises it, considering their experience with international applications, I think he should take that advice.

[quote author=Scottiemi post=70539478]Thanks for checking up, had the interview answered some questions and then the network became bad and the interviewer had to cut, I immediately sent a mail apologizing for the bad network and all but for now nothing. [/quocte]

Hi

I think we have similar issues

On 24th I had a 2nd impromptu phone interview that got disrupted by network (interviewer acknowledged that network is bad by saying she can hardly hear what I am saying and later asked for another number which she didn't get because at a point she said she can now hear that I should proceed with the conversation) The call lasted for just 2min with a dropped call meanwhile conversation was still ongoing

No return call yet from the interviewer effort tried to call back was unsuccessful

@Scottiemi kindly keep me posted if you get another call or received any email for decision made

I will also do the same

Anyone here with advice and experience is welcome to share

Thanks all, for your great work and informed solutions to problems

He has already submitted his application to which he didn't include the sponsorship details. Is it okay to write a cover letter explaining his sponsorship details?

It doesn't matter. Tier 4 applications don't require source of funds as long as the required funds are in your account for 28 days (I suggest that you download the most recent revision of T4 guidelines and read through). Work with UKVI T4 guidelines and you're good. If you include a sponsorship letter, it might work against him because the UKVI might end up missing the bank statement on the basis that the company sponsoring is a local company (if he includes a sponsorship letter). The UKVI is sometimes capable of missing info on an application when there are conflicting documents.
The school probably just wants to confirm if the money was truly given by his company and will be available for his studies as a risk assessment to safeguard their student sponsorship ties with UKVI.
As long as he didn't lie or get a ban in his previous application and as long as he submits all the necessary documents including a 28-day bank statement that shows the money in his account without a dip below what's required during the period, he's good to go.

Print on the 29th day.
Day 1 is the day after the deposit is made because the opening balance on the day the deposit is made does not reflect the amount you require.
The opening balance of the day after a deposit is made is what shows the deposit of the previous day.
