Hello house, is there a limit to how much cash one can travel with? Can I take like $20k cash? Does the Nigeria Immigration check at the airport?

On the issue of declaring, if you're taking over $10000 in cash, please declare it. However, knowing the attitude of our officials and from personal experience, try and move a lot of the funds onto a card. I declared my cash at the customs point only for the DSS to try to ask me where the source of the funds was and they threatened to delay me and make me miss my flight unless I come with them and 'settle'. Only the fact that my wife was pregnant and she insisted that if they detained me, they would have to detain her too made them release me. So save yourself the hassle and put it on a card!

Expert advise needed !!

I would be traveling to Texas (USA) next month and would be there till December for delivery. And I’m traveling along with my children (2years and 10 years old) If I decide to put my children in their public schools for the duration of my stay, would that affect my next US visa application ? Would they refuse to grant me another visa ?

Thanks for your anticipated response.

Hi ,

i dont know if anyone has responded to you. but my friend was seriously interrogated because her first child is not a citizen and the immigration officer thought she sent her to school while she gave birth to the second. i don't know if it is illegal, but for the question to come up. i just wonder

All the best

Don't make it sound all that bad, we went thru Abuja airport two weeks ago with about $12k and the immigration guys there were all so kind and made us do the proper thing then wished us a safe trip. Just saying

This category of treatment is adequately described in my write up. You are in category one - official category! grin

Thanks. This is very detailed and funny at the same time.
So do you suggest I just go ahead and declare the money?

It is wiser to do so. They cannot take it away. Not declaring the cash is what carries consequences.

Hello Everyone. I'm new to this thread but I have read everything.

I am very nervous about HOUSTON POE.
I am scheduled to travel 2nd week in September. I got my visa in December before I got pregnant but I never used it.
My husband and I are already in touch with Dr Funso and Oakbend hospital. I will be staying at Precious Cedar

Please do you know if Oakbend receives pre-payment and do I have to contact them outside Dr Funso?
Also, what should I get ready for at POE.

Thank you

you should be fine since you weren't pregnant when you got your visa. many people have been going in through Houston with similar case like yours. I don't think Houston is that bad like before.

I'm honestly hoping things have changed o, by God's grace.

Also, do you know the details about the hospital?

what details? your doctor's correspondence and appointment letter is just enough. you should also have details of how much your hospital bills are and other bills. you should be fine.

I just came back from the u.s with my twins and I used a double stroller from Nigeria to Washington
It was free although I used emirate airline. I initially thought it was going to be part of my luggages from Nigeria but the airline said since they are kids it's free and they are over 2years.
Just park essentials like diaper and wipes if the toddler is still using. Favourite biscuit, food. I took golden more from here for them. Change of cloth if u have a stop over, our stop over was just 2 and a half hours in dubai and they have a bathroom. So it was easier for me to quickly bath them before boarding Dubai to Washington,I repeated the same on our way back to Nigeria . Sweater for the cold inside the plane, water bottle and anything for their comfort but not too much hand luggage.
quote author=Eilenora post=70645272]Hello All.

Pls can u advise on the best seat to pick on d plane when travelling out with a 4 year old toddler?

Also essentials to pack for hand luggage both for preggy and toddler.

Finally, I was told that I could nli pack either a car seat or stroller for the toddler and not both as they both count as part of d 2 luggages she is entitled to. Thot stroller was usually packed for free to be colected at the entrance of d plane? They said thats for an infant not toddler. Which is more important to take btwn both of them? I hear some cabs wont allow u in their car without car seat for a toddler.[/quote]

I mean hospital prepayment.
A colleague of mine said it may be easier at POE if you have paid some money to the hospital but I dont think I can do that outside Dr Funso as he was the first line of contact

Good Afternoon everyone. Please I am in need of an advise on how to proceed further. I had a B1/B2 visa before my previous pregnancy and before I travelled I sent a letter to the embassy that I was going to have my baby. That visa expired in June and I applied for drop box recently and picked up my passport today but I have been invited for an interview. However, neither schedule another interview nor provide additional documentation was ticked in the letter provided with my passport. Has anyone had this experience before, what do you suggest please? Thank you

Hi. I had same experience though my previous visa was a medical visa.
This is what I did.. I called the US travel docs customer service agents and told them I was confused on what next to do. They told me to scan the 221g letter and my passport data page after which they responded they had escalated the case.
Today I was asked to schedule a follow up interview which I have done.

You could try that but be discrete.

The VO thought that you and your family are running away, thats why he started the interview by asking which school your son attends. So for u answering that he is not yet in school at 2yrs, he assumed that you want your son to start school in the US and that u and your family might not come back. Now they look for little excuses to refuse people Visas, alot of things that people get away with before doesn't work nowadays,. Your wife could have gone alone while you and your son, with your work becomes the ties at home,. Than your whole family applying the same time. Let her reapply alone,if she finds a closer date. but the date am seeing is January 2019. Good luck.

Hello guys, please I need some clarity with respect to if notarization at US embassy is compulsory. Can we just use a notary lawyer cos I checked the site and there's nothing specifying only us embassy notary is acceptable. Thanks for any pointers.

Good evening house.
Please is it safe to pass through those huge body scanners at the airport while pregnant? I don't know if those xray lights are safe for the baby.
Can someone refuse to be scanned and request a pat down instead? Has anybody had any experience with this one?
Thank you and God bless.
