Good, try and submit everything and also mention your family as well(if possible include the birth cert of your siblings). Just make sure you state everything clearly on both SOP and LOE. Best of luck

I see..can it be my birth certificate?

I doubt it is your birth certificate. That is never an issue. If I were to guess, perhaps bank statement, transcripts. If all your documents are legit and all answers you have on form are honestly answered, you should just chill, it will go back to review of eligibility again and decision rendered promptly. I know you asked this question several weeks ago. Some told you it’s a system error. I had long suspected and expressed that it was not.

I don't have an idea, but you can search on Google (include nairaland on the search), there should be a thread on that.

~~LONG POST ALERT~~

LANDING EXPERIENCE
Hi guys, sorry for not posting earlier. The last couple of days have been pretty hectic - running up and down all day. My Emirates flight was scheduled for departure at 26th Aug, 5:50pm. Accra to Dubai to London (Gatwick) to Toronto. I was really impressed with the onboard service of the flight attendants. Food was also good (though I couldn't eat most of them). Both of my layovers in both Dubai and London were very short (2hrs each). I literally had to run at Dubai airport. What a feat of Engineering that airport is.

Now to address people's concerns about transiting in London. If you have a Canadian visa, you can transit in London if you meet ALL the following criteria:
1. Your inbound and outbound flights are with the same airline. In other words, you do not have to claim you luggage at the airport before boarding the next plane
2. You will be entering and leaving London at the same airport. (Either Heathrow or Gatwick)
3. Your arrival time and departure time at the airport are on the same calendar date. i.e You will not stay at the airport overnight.
4. You will stay inside the airport throughout the transit period. (You can't go sightseeing outside)

After a long and stressful 28hr journey, I finally landed in Toronto at 7pm local time. The sun was still shining. I filled my customs declaration and headed towards the looonngg queue to get my study permit. I spent almost an hour in the queue. It finally reached my turn;

Officer: Good evening
Me: Good evening. (I handed my passport and customs declaration to him)
Officer: Which school are you attending?
Me: York University
Officer: What course?
ME: Masters in Civil Engineering
Officer: Can you tell me how much of your tuition you've paid so far?
Me: I'm being fully funded by the University
Officer: Oh! that's nice. (With smiles)

He typed for a while and was asking me how my flight went. I told him it was awesome, but also stressful. He went inside and came back with my study permit. He told me to study hard and make Ghana and also Canada proud. He did not ask for any other document. No letter of introduction, no admission letter, no proof of funding.

Went to claim my baggage. Couldn't find it on the baggage carousel. I went to the arrivals hall and saw them faithfully standing there, waiting for their master. I exited the airport and whispered to myself, "Welcome to Canada".

Canada is such a beautiful city. The tall structures in downtown Toronto exude an air of grandeur that makes you feel so tiny. It's almost intimidating at first. Canadians are really nice and helpful. They smile a lot. They apologize for the tiniest inconvenience they cause you.

PS: When you are traveling to Canada, make sure you get a travel adapter for your laptop and other gadgets. Their sockets are very different and chances are, your phone or laptop charger wont fit into them. Trust me! You don't want to buy the adapter here. When they mention the price to you and you convert to your local currency, you'll start crying.

To all who are yet to travel, safe journey.

Best wishes to all TRV hopefuls.

Cheers.

what wld you say of a case where background check and eligibility review are going on simultaneously?

Senatorkolade:

From what I have gathered, when an application get to the Canadian High Commission, it goes straight to background check which is in two ways. One is done by CSIS for security and criminal check while the second one is conducted by the quality control unit for document check and verification. Once your application get to the VO for a review, your application changes to "we are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements".
IF ALONG THE LINE THE VO HAS CONCERN WITH CERTAIN DOCUMENTS YOU INCLUDED IN YOUR APPLICATION, HE WILL RETURN YOUR DOSSIER BACK TO THE CONTROL UNIT FOR FURTHER VERIFICATION.
That might be the reason your eligibility started and went back to processing.

Normal. Background check and eligibility of review almost always run together.

Passport request: August 30, 2018

DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED
All required CIC forms
Acceptance letter
WAEC result
Transcripts
BA certificate (first class) – I also got a scholarship covering full tuition from my school in Canada but had to sort my living expenses
NYSC Discharge Certificate
Sponsors’ statement of account with closing balance of about 300k (business account)
Sponsors’ treasury bill certificates – 10m
Sponsors’ CAC
Sponsors’ tax clearance certificate
Sponsors’ international passport data page
Letter of Intent

My sponsor was my cousin so I included a family tree showing relationship and her marriage certificate since we no longer have the same last name.

I didn’t include my personal statement of account and my home ties were my two siblings in Nigeria and the job prospects that I have in Nigeria based on my course.

First, I must state that my application was nothing but a miracle. After submission, I found nairaland and based on what I read on threads, I had some loopholes in my application like using a business statement of account, not submitting my personal statement of account, and not having the usual home ties like land and other properties.

I kept praying and believing God for his grace to cover the flaws in my application and He showed up for me! Nothing is impossible with God, you just need to have faith and He will show up for you mightily.

Best of luck to other TRV hopefuls

I applied for Canada study VISA online on 23rd May, went for finger print 17th June, yet to hear from them regarding decision. Now 13 weeks plus from the date of application and 10 weeks from the date of finger print. Is this the normal trend or there is something I need do?

I paid acceptance fee of 1.5m to UBC.
After sending them mail,
Visa was denied.
Please who knows if I can get the money back.

Ohhh sorry about your delay. 5,000 CAD is a lot of money, try solicit for a refund by every means even if you have to write a letter to them that it's your 5 year savings just to pursue a masters degree. It's an emotional and sympathetic appeal, that way they can do a meeting on your behalf and refund you. Always remb that the pen is mightier than the sword, meaning what and how you write could bring you results than the use of force. UBC could be classed one of CANADIAN IVY LEAGUE SCHOOLS. Moreover if it was boldly written on their website, there might be nothing you can do. Even if you hire an attorney! They ve got attorneys too.

And always make enquiries before you make any move once you not in that proximity. Before initiating payment you could have asked if they make refunds. Before I deferred my admission to this fall, I asked my HOD and I was instructed to pay 100 CAD Confirmatory deposit for the admission then after a week I got my acceptance forms. I also inquired if I could pay part tuition and was specifically asked not to until I have secured my visa.

All the best, and my advise. Try some other schools instead of deferring for 700k, make claim that you don't even have that and you need the deposit tuition if you are sure you don't want to try again.

Hi Nairalanders,

I got admission to two Canadian colleges (Conestoga and Humber) for similar courses(same syllabus sef). I applied for my first canadian study permit in March using Conestoga, got my rejection letter in May. Applied again in june (still using conestoga) and I am still awaiting approval (IJN) from VO till now. My course starts on the 1st of September (too late). I asked for a semester deferment till Winter(January) for both colleges, Got deferment from Humber, but Conestoga did not process deferment on time and no more available course till Fall semester 2019.
How can I notify the visa officer that I want to change my college from Conestoga to Humber.
Will this affect my application.

Pls brother help the poor boy my gcms note is not contribute to my matter
jnyuwa02:

All refusals need a GCMS notes, including Kenya. All GCMS notes are generic, but personalized to the particular applicant. GCMS help narrow the reasons of refusal further than the letter originally given to the applicant disclosing refusal. All refused applicants, including Kenya should order for their GCMS notes. It helps shed broader light as to the reason of refusal. GCMS also help reveal potentially eye opening information. For example I ordered my GCMS and found out CIC has been communicating with my school to find out if my admission is real. Some people have even found out a mistake by VO through GCMS which has led to them calling out the VO’s bluff, leading to their approval.

For example, a GCMS note I am going through lately said the applicant’s husband and four children are resident in the Ukraine that the applicant had not shown she would return to Nigeria. But this applicant and family had never ever visited Ukraine, but all reside in Nigeria. Another applicant’s GCMS I was going through, said he is been sponsored by a third party when in fact this applicant is self sponsored. These are blunders only GCMS can reveal and if the blunders pointed, can lead to approval. I advice every refused applicant to get their GCMS notes.

Hi guys. I am new to this forum. You guys are doing a great job. I am currently in the process of getting my TRV, I applied for an MBA at the University of Toronto, and I got a message from the VO requesting for me to do my medicals. What I noticed from reading this thread from part 1 to 14 is that no one spoke on what the medicals entail.

Pls can someone be kind enough to tell me what the VO is checking for in the medicals that may make him/her grant a visa or not? is there a certain disease an applicant have that might hinder his/her getting a TRV.

Awaiting your reply

If you need it asap, better you try some other cities aside Lagos, there your money will facilitate it quick. But Lag? You cud be delayed and if fast tracked could be fake! Try Ibadan/Osogbo depending on where you live. Shouldn't cost more than 20k
