Greenarrow01:You have spoken very, very well. You see, unless we dig into the microest and most important INSTITUTION and which is the FAMILY, getting our values right, every other thing is mere NOISE. HOMES ARE FAILING. IT DOESNT MATTER WHERE THE MONEY IS COMING FROM THEIR CHILDREN, PARENTS DON'T CARE. ALL THAT THEY WILL PROCLAIM IS: HE/SHE HAS ARRIVED. CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME. "We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty." (Maya Angelou) Most Nigerians have a psyche of always looking for short cut through ILLEGITIMATE ways to fame, fortunes and happiness. The Church have over the years in Nigeria being used to exploit this mentality. People looking for Miracles and Wonders and being robbed of their money. WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SEEING THE IMPART OF THE CHURCH IN OUR LIVES AND POSITIVELY BUT NO ALL BECAUSE THE SPIRIT THAT ANIMATES THESE CHURHES MOST IS CAPITALISM. THEY ARE MOSTLY MERE TEMPLE OF FRAUDS. There are today some churches own by Non-Christians who employ an Hot Gospeller to run it for them making returns into their Banks. The Bible says we should worship God in Truth and Spirit. But it's manipulation mostly all the way. Even with some officials of Mosques too. Recently a fraudulent case was exposed in the Central Mosque Abuja by Prof. Oloyede. VANITY REMAINS TO THEM A THING OF PRIDE: WORDWORLD:The problem is in MALPRACTICE OF 'RELIGION' but not 'RELIGION'. Those who allow PREJUDICE to block their intellect will for sure say otherwise. "The REAL ANTI-CHRIST is he who turns the wine of an original idea into the water of MEDIOCRITY" (Eric Hoffer, Reflections on the Human Conditions) |

oneolajire:Absolute trash. A mishmash of delusions and convoluted logic. Why not also say that the Toothfairy is the solution to Nigeria's socio economic problems ? ![]() In fact, I profer that Amadioha is the solution to Nigeria's socio economic problems. And I can marshal out a more cogent argument to support that. I took pains to read the article, hoping that the writer would cite historical or modern day examples of nations where religion was or is a social economic driver. Rather, the writer just chose to take me on a merry-go-round of delusions, ignorance, and wishful thinking. Funny that the writer made reference to Silicon Valley as a hub of scientific and technological innovations, but failed to tell us home many Bullshyt mountains( churches) are located in that geographical area, or any statistics that show that majority of those that populate Silicon Valley are Christian evangelists. Religious superstitions and magical thinking are the complete opposites of economic progress and social harmony. |

oneolajire:Lol. First of all, religion is not and has never been in the business of progressive nationbuilding. Religion exist to shackle and hold populations of people mentally captive for exploitation . Nothing else. As you can see from a brief glimpse of history, the more the religious order is Emasculated, the freer , the more peaceful, the more progressive a society becomes. That's not my opinion. That's simple history. Secondly, I find it ironic that you used the Word ' parasite' to describe a nonreligious person. I can't stop laughing laughing. ![]() That is classic psychological projection. |

Mathew 23,Take note of verse 15,same way prophets & pastors & so called evangelist etc travel & claim to win single souls with aeroplane while people under them are held in evil family bondages, evil marine, occult oppressions without peace&power??A Warning Against Hypocrisy? Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 2 “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3 So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4 They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them. 5 “Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries[a] wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6 they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; 7 they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.8 “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10 Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah. 11 The greatest among you will be your servant. 12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.Seven Woes on the Teachers of the Law and the Pharisees 13 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. [14] [b]15 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell as you are.16 “Woe to you, blind guides! You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but anyone who swears by the gold of the temple is bound by that oath.’ 17 You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred? 18 You also say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but anyone who swears by the gift on the altar is bound by that oath.’ 19 You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred? 20 Therefore, anyone who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. 21 And anyone who swears by the temple swears by it and by the one who dwells in it. 22 And anyone who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the one who sits on it.23 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. 24 You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.25 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.27 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. 28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.29 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous. 30 And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets |

I think I found the secret to be successful in nigeria. Become a pastor. Seriously, people are so gullible - OP is case in point, that you could have a never ending stream of income, power and sex. Just remember to not start believing in the trash you will spewing to others! ![]() Know well that Bible is BS, but don't let others know. Pretend you believe too. The only thing you should believe in is money. Make money your god, and exploit fools to the maximum. If you are not tithing, you will burn in hell! Got a job? You first pay should go to the church. Getting married? The same deal! Had a child? You know the drill! Keep your community brainwashed. It isn't hard. Literacy is doing absolutely nothing to get rid of this religious slavery, why not take maximum advantage of it? |

Nigeria church is the foundation of the problem of Nigeria, it's the foundation of corruption. The church is the source of corruption in Nigeria, the false prophets and pastors preaching corruption and sharing looted money with politicians and the false pastors anointing and praying for criminals, looters and bank looters. But true church will lead the nation in righteousness, justice, truth and mercy and lead people by good example and hate and fight against corruption and the corrupt people and politicians. But the church in Nigeria is more corrupt than the politicians and has ruined the country and lead under the wrath and judgment and destruction of God. Multiple woes unto all the false prophets in Nigeria and their false followers but blessed are all the few faithful and true remnants of Christians in Nigeria. Amen |

solutionsnow:Did you just attack a private group of individuals for their beliefs. Govt uses public funds to buy Ramadan ram and you guys aren't bothered about those but want the Church to fund what govt has refused to. Christians pay tax to govt so govt can build thing Christians share with non-christians and I see no reason for expecting a church funded by tax paying believers to shoulder the responsibility they are paying taxes for. |

plaetton:I don't think this is entirely accurate in terms of history. Certain societies have repressed religion and that very act has been a symptom of a generally repressive state - and as such in those instances it would be wrong to state that the emasculation of a religious order led to a "freer" state. Notable examples include Russia, Nazi Germany and China. On the other hand religions despite their colorful and many times dark history have actually on occasion been a positive agent for change - as may be said with the motivating factors for many of the prime movers against the slave trade for example - they were deeply religious people. This is not to take away the dark aspects of religions and certainly not to deny the fact that religious texts were also used to justify slavery. |

DeepSight:Salutations, my Wordy Sire. ![]() I trust that all is well with you . ![]() Whereas I do not disagree with any of your points, I will, however, say that by the use of the word ' emasculated' , I did not mean forceful emasculation at all. No, not at all. Forceful emasculation would also mean forceful emasculation of free thought, an anathema to progress . Rather, by emasculation of religion, I meant the gradual and steady devolution of the powers of the religious orders, the slow and steady encroachment of scientific curiosity, and the steady consensus adoption of scientific rationalism as a much more reliable arbiter of reality and existence. This is the emasculation of superstitions, and with it,religious superstitions and thought. |
