Dear car gurus. My toyota highlander overheated dis morning as i saw smokes coming out frm my bonnet. I pulled over nd opend my bonnet only to discover dat water in my radiator was really boiling dat it threw off d radiator cap nd d full water in my reservoir dried up. I'v only driven 5 mile b4 dis happened. This has never hapnd in 3yrs v bn using vehicle. I called my kazeem nd he suggested i remove my thermostat to save cost nd stop d overheating or i shud change my follow come radiator to double cell. I'm confused on wat to do d reason i brot dis matter. I'v driven ds car for good 3 yrs nd v bn using coolant, synthetic oil. its a v6 2004 Highlander Boss. The fan comes up only wen engine is hot.

someone forgot to place the cover on your radiator. no matter how hot an engine is, the pressure cap will never leave it's installed position if locked properly in place.

currently you Might Might be able to escape with a slap on the wrist. Just pour water into the Radiator and continue driving, if after 1 week you do not notice any misfires, or buildup of oil under the pressure cap, then drain the water, and install toyota coolant.
