Why has no one responded to this pls, don't we have PhD holders here. @xtosync, kindly buzz me on what's app +2348034499942 cos I will need u to guide me as regards certain decision I want to make.

xtosync:
Please, I would love to find out from experienced and landed seniors in the house:

1. Between getting a job as a post doc student (Faculty position/Academia) and a job in IT, which is more lucrative and have brighter prospect for an immigrant? (not necessarily software development as I am not fully grounded in it yet. Although I have beginners knowledge on Android and Web development.).

2. Which of the two job areas is more available, easier to get and with less competition? Target Provinces are, but not limited to Ontario and Alberta.

Thank you in advance.

I can see that you are really head bent on your asylum route despite the advice. To be forewarned is to be forearm.

See IRCC position on Asylum with this link for your information: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/campaigns/irregular-border-crossings-asylum.html?utm_source=Twitter&utm_campaign=asylum_en

This thread is basically for those who are living in Canada via legit route (Permanent Residence), if their various testimonies can't motivate you well enough to pursue the legit means, I wonder what will then do.
Good luck.

Apply for self employed stream. As a cameraman, this is a route you can take. It usually takes 2 yrs or less.

I am not hell bent on going for asylum, but if I don't get the permanent resident visa then it's an option for me.

Hello everyone, been silently following and learning from this thread and would like to share my landing story ( hoping it would help someone else):

PPR was gotten in March and we searched for flights through skyscanner.net, We booked our flight in May for a family of four going to Toronto in July via Egypt airways (it costed about 1m plus). We initially wanted to go for Emirates but the 600k price difference was thought to be better spent on cargoing foodstuff (to avoid Egypt air wahala) and for the kids to do some summer camp outings with their cousins in Toronto.
We cargoed the food items and some other personal effects the day before the trip(82kg for N115k,... for those who intend to cargo it makes more sense if you have 100kg or more in

@deni83, pls I will be landing in December and am booking Egypt air. Kindly help with the cargo company you use to cargo ur foodstuffs to Canada and what are the stuffs I can’t cargo. Can I pm you because I still have a lot of questions to ask you as we will also be staying In Milton. Thanks

Hahahaha there are still good single to mingle with over there except if the social life in Canada is zero or if people don't talk one another there. Just thinking aloud though.

Hello house
I landed yesterday.
After submitting my passport to be stamped in. I didn't have an address for the PR card so I was given a website to go through for later submission. And I was told I couldn't get a SIN until I had an address.
I submitted my goods to follow list with photos of my jewelry and left.

Immediately I left the airport was when my troubles began, so bad my 5 year old was wiping snot off my face.
5 hours later we got to our air bnb. I cant underatand why airtel line wont roam. Well I just made cereal for my child and we went to bed. Too upset and sad to do anymore.
Well tomorrow has come I feel better, and in retrospect there were so many things I should have done myself.
Canada I come in peace, my hands are clean. please be nice.

I was hoping no one would ask LMAO.
I left my accommodation and uber pre-order in the hands of a relative. And I didn't bother to check. My plan was once I was out of the airport I would call her. Unfortunately my airtel line wasn't roaming. I had to take an airport taxi to the airbnb in missisuaga. My host had left. He had been waiting for me and because I couldn't reach him he thought maybe I wasn't coming but he left the key somewhere for me and left the door open but I didn't know that because I couldn't reach him. I sat on the side walk and started crying my heart out. Then I received sense seeing my son there tired and hungry and I walked up to some man in the building.. a tenant too and asked where I could get free WiFi because where I was the WiFi was passworded and the concierge wasn't ready to help me.
Women dealing with women since the beginning of time. So I went to the next block of apartments and the concierge there a man have me the password and I made my calls and was able to get in.

I'm sorry about your experience. However, this has nothing to do with "women dealing with women" but poor planning and bit of ill luck.

The woman concierge was simply doing her job - she can't possibly release the password to everyone who comes claiming they have an accomodation there and it's likely you're not the only one to have approached her with a sob story. The man concierge was extra kind - be thankful for that. We can't always be lucky with everyone.
