Then why are the road in China very good despite their huge population?
Probably because of their huge resources(i.e revenue) to complement it. Resources and population goes hand in hand. Compare with India which population is almost same with China but generate much lower revenue.

Wrong. The higher the population, the higher the amount of people available to maintain it. Population is not always a disadvantage, it can be used as an Advantage EXAMPLE: CHINA no country in Africa can be compared to china in terms off population, road usage, infrastructural usuage, heavy duty trucks on road. 1 fvcking billion and still advancing infrastructure-wise. POPULATION IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR DECAY IN INFRASTRUCTURE.
Exactly. Population can either propel growth or impede a nation. In our case the populace aren't as productive as they should be and thus depend on oil income that is largely fixed to meet their critical needs.
In China the citizens contribute to their government through productivity and therefore more citizens equal more money being available to the govt to meet needs unlike ours where oil income is fixed.

I am not surprised. On the arsenal jersey, u see "Visit Rwanda" written boldly on it. I believe kigame is working hard in that country. How far have we developed since independence? The growth of a country is dependent on the vision of her leaders and not their population or wealth

I guess you lazy youths are about wasting another four years of your lives. Continue with the same set of visionless crooks or take a chance on someone new with a refreshing sense of newer and visionary direction. Your lives are in your hands. Write your own history.

India is a nation on the rise. They are not China yet but fast becoming China.
The problem with Nigeria is we are not productive. If Nigerians are as productive as China and every citizen pays substantial amount as tax then govt will be happy to have more citizens. In Nigeria oil income meets our needs largely and this oil income doesn't grow by population.
The only reason Nigerian leader love population growth is for election purpose.

While taking nothing out of Rwanda,at least they 're trying.i feel we Nigerians put our country down tooooo much.im not seeing anything fantastic in these pictures.many parts of Lagos,Abuja,Calabar,Enugu are finer and cleaner than this but we take so much pride in bad mouthing ourselves.it is well with us

Truth hurts sometime. No need to continue to fool ourselves. Worst part is the people continue to make same mistakes expecting a different result. See what bad choices is costing us. It's almost election time and people are about making same choice once again. That's why most times it seems God is not answering our prayers. Everyday people keep comparing some countries with Nigeria forgetting this people can only boost of their capital city alone. Compare Enugu to mombasa in Kenya, compare ogun state to Kumasi in Ghana, compare Calabar to any other city u want again in Ivory coast apart from Abidjan. This country invest in their capital cities alone forgetting about the other states or province, if you doubt me come with ur point.

Only 12.5 million people? That's even less than Lagos population. No wonder Nigeria is viewed as the Giant of Africa. Autojosh show us a country in Africa of about 200 million with no pot holes, that'll be a fair comparism. Nevertheless it will be nice to tour Kigali

Wait o! Is it the population that brings the potholes? As on potholes are directly proportional to the size of a population of any country so the higher the number, then the more the potholes? Is that what you mean?

Now they are several years ahead of Nigeria and it's our reality

Not the problem of leaders really, Nigerians are so myopic that they celebrate mediocrity at any instance

I fear soon, chad will be light years ahead of us and we will keep shouting population and land mass

Good riddance to bad rubbish!

India is much smaller geographically compared to China. This would not be a fair comparison. The people in India are free, unlike china where there is government restriction even to have 2 kids until recently. Google, banned, youtube banned, facebook banned - muslims ill-treated. To me that is an oppressive society.

Please. Let me get you right. So, you mean the more the population, the more the tendency to have potholes on the roads?

Tells you the standard of education people receive in our country. If the higher the population, the more potholes. Then China, Japan, Russia etc should have more potholes than Nigeria.

Anyway, Nigerians deserve the leaders they get.

Yea it is an excuse especially because of population density. Lagos is a tiny state with over 20million people using the available infrastructure, yet much bigger Rwanda has less population. The higher the population density the faster the rate of using the infrastructure available and the more difficult it is to keep up with maintainance

Shanghai, China, Singapore and Hong Kong and even Tokyo have higher densities than Lagos, yet they are more developed than any city in Africa

Population is not enough excuse

African govts failed us

The more the population the more problems that's why I just smile when people compare electricity generation in Nigeria to Ghana. But still not an excuse not to get it right though Ghana is like Lagos population if Lagos gets its act together it can provide stable electricity but I can't boldly say the same for 200million population.

what is the population of China, please?

Did anyone force Nigeria to be large? If the country is too large to work, why not break it into smaller nations?

That's not true

I have been to so so many cities and villages across Africa (At the last count, more than 50)
So I know what I'm saying

In ivory Coast, I have been to Khorhogo, Man, Abidjan, Yamaosoukro and even Bouaké

The development's in each of these places is better than their counterparts in Nigeria

Even villages close to the border with Liberia has constant electricity and in some cases running water

How many cities in Nigeria can boast of that?

In Benin I have been ri cotonou, Abomey, Abomey Cakavi, Ouudah, even Parakou
even though the infrastructures there are not spectacular, they maintain it and it is functional enough, with running water from a central board and electricity everywhere

What of Togo? Lomé and Atakpame try very much in infrastructures (running water and electricity)
unfortunately they are not economically buoyant like say Nigeria or ivory Coast

Ghana nko? I have been to Cape coast, Accra, Tema and Kumasi.
What they have on ground is functional, and they are expanding their infrastructures into takoradi, even to Kakum village, I saw all these with my eyes.
though their water system is kind of fractured and the country expensive due to high vat, they still try and the development spread

Let me not go into other places I have seen, let's just manage this ones first

The painful truth is that the rest of Africa is progressing abeit at a slow rate, and leaving us behind

We need to sit up

I agree with the person you are arguing with. Population is a very big problem for Nigeria. There are more people to cater for.

Then concerning China you cannot compare China with Nigeria. China was even a late comer to industrialization because China is even older than US in civilisation. China has gotten civilisation even as far back as before Christ was born. So they are late comers. That's why they dey vex and pursuing America.

Nigeria is just 50 years old and too much population. Example look at Singapore there population is not even up to 5 million, so they leveraged on that small population to achieve higher development compared to Malaysia which is 15 million to 20 million.

How is comparing two sovereign countries not a fair competition. Okay since it's by population should we then compare Russia to Nigeria? Look, the earlier you come to the realization that Nigeria is a giant shithole the better for everyone.
