Congratulations!
Did you receive any funding from the school?
Congrats! Did you make any obvious changes from your previous applications?

Went for interview at water Carrington last week. 29th to be precised. Visa not approved. I am currently and accountant and am changing my career to be a nurse. I was advised to settle for community college, get an associate degree and will be taught courses that are the periquisite of nursing. Then I can use that for my BSN. I think it very hard to convince the VO on this. Considering I finished school 2010 and and been working.

My transcript below, I was interviewed by a white lady. Can't remember here window She like blue paper I guess, she no too dry waste time.

VO: good morning
Me: good morning

VO: your passport
Me: I passed it

VO: you are a student, I will need your i-20
Me: passed it

VO: what are you going to study
Me: nursing at xyz college

Vo: why nursing
Me: I have always wanted to be a nurse, am passionate about health care delivery. I want to be able to deliver health care to people here in Nigeria. Studying this course will equip me with the knowledge, skill and values I need to fulfill my potentials in the health sector here in Nigeria. My potential ability studying nursing will make me an asset to my family and the society at large been a life safer.

Vo: (typing and not even making any eye contact) what kind of degree will be issued after your study
Me: associate degree in art

Vo: what will you do with this degree
Me: I will come back to Nigeria to put what I have learnt to practice. The knowledge, skill, value and exposure will help me a lot and I will be able to hold my head up high. I will be able to give healthcare to those that needs it in a proper way.

Vo: did you write any standardise test, sat or gre
Me: no. I have written TOEFL before but didn't submit it as it wasn't required

Vo: (looking at the computer) it states here you are an account at so so diocese, why do you want to change your career.
Me: nursing excite me a lot, It what want to be, give healthcare to people and make sure they get proper healthcare. And for the fact that I am deciding this on my own, no influence from anybody.

Vo: (bring out blue paper) am sorry, you are not eligible for a non-immigrant visa at the moment, reason is stated in the blue paper giving to you. you can reapply. Have a great day
Me: thank you, have a good day.

NB:
I plan to reapply Dec. As I will defer my admission
It my first time, maybe I lack confidence
The student that went to same VO were denied
But the lady in front of me got approved, vacation, not too much questions, guess the does travel to the US regularly from few things I could pick.

Comments please.

Thanks.

To be frank with you. It will very hard to convince the v.o genuinely that you are switching from Accounting to Nursing and community colleges doesnt sell at the embassy. If i were you, i will get visa with a course in line with my undergraduate and present work, then when I get to USA, I will switch to my dream course.

Anyway work on why you are switching from accounting to nursing, your reply wasn't good enough.

My little advice

My international passport would expire by Aug 2019. Would it be any hindrance to my visa considering I would be issued a 2yr visa which would definitely be beyond the intl passport expiry date.

Anyone who has gone through this? Let me know if it is possible to renew my passport before the Interview or go with it like that since it isn't expired yet

Can you share your GA pursuits with me? I understand you have a Wvu admit, any leads? Can I send you a pm?

Hi Taofeeq,

If you take out time to go through the various parts of the thread, it will give you some insight as to where to start from. Any question you have, it will be best you ask it here, so others can also benefit from it. I will be most happy to help answer your questions.

A virgin passport won't be a reason why you are denied a visa. I read about someone on this thread who said she had to travel to different countries so she could have travel history and boost her chance of getting the visa but was still denied.

I really don't think that would be a problem. Just do your own bit. Also, make sure it's not an expired passport.

Actually my passport will expire next year Dec

I appreciate

Timotee:

It depends on when you will be interviewing for your visa. As stated previously, your passport needs be valid for at least 6 months by the time you are issued your visa. However, this is where your case gets a little tricky. If you're looking at Fall 2019, you're allowed to attend your visa interview up to 120 days in advance of your school resumption date. So assuming that your school resumes in August, the earliest date that you can interview for your visa will be sometime in April. Given that your passport expires in August, then it will be less than 6 months to its expiration when you're interviewing and that wouldn't work. You may need to renew it to avoid any complication. Typically, passports are renewed about 6 months to its expiration.

Thank you for this response. Mine is for Srping 2019 so i think I am on track. Thank you

Stop making the mistake of “you have to look responsible”

You don’t have to look responsible, you have to be responsible.

Your story and career pattern doesn't add up.....a visa officer with even 1 month experience will deny you in his sleep......except a miracle happens.

Thanks for sharing though! All the best!

Which of the advice, go for a course that will go with my first degree at masters level and change to nursing when I get over there or reapply and work on how to answer why I want to change my career.

Applying for MBA now that I have already applied for nursing, they have my record, I will be faced with same question, you wanted to do nursing, now you wanted MBA again. Like I don't know what I want to do. Potential immigrant.

If you are reapplying anytime soon, let's say for spring 2019. Just work on your answers and continue with nursing line since they have your details and record of the answers you gave them in your last interview. But if you plan to reapply for fall 2019 or 2020, you can change to any course related to your undergraduate or present work. Changing course so soon won't speak so well of you and will present you as a confused being that doesnt know what he wants, who is looking for ways to immigrate.

So you have to sit down and think over it, then make a decision. They might ask you why you changed from nursing to your new course maybe PhD Accounting incase you decide to change course, so Prepare a good answer for that. If you have a good profile, apply for PhD, most PhD programs in USA doesn't require masters and 90% are funded. The choice is yours.

Good evening all,

I have been offered conditional admission at CMU because I have grade E in one of the mathematical courses I offered during my undergraduate and the school suggest I write it before the conditional admission can be confirmed.

I would like to ask if there will be any problem when facing the consular because it’s a conditional admission.

10 Universities with lowest out - of-state tuition

10. West Texas A & M University, Canyon, Texas. $8,959
9. Dickinson State University, Dickinson, North Dakota. $8,918
8. New Mexico Highlands University, Las Vegas, New Mexico $8,650
7. Alcorn State University, Mississippi $8,500
6. Bemidji State University, Minnesota. $8,386
5. South West Minnesota State University, Minnesota. $8,386

Stay away from agents if you don't want to regret later. You are avised to read previous chapters of this thread and be informed. Then you would truly be ready to go through the whole process on your own.
IN MY OWN OPINION - agents do more harm than good to you and you get to pay them for it. RUN
