I guess it depends on the drive test center. Please which one did u go to so I can direct my friend there. She just landed and has the same issue. She won't mind having her driver's license in her married name.

I used Shawnessy Registry in SW Calgary.

Please seniors in the house, I’m planning to switch careers to Nursing. I had my BSc and MSC in microbiology although all my work experience is in banking. Can anyone give me advice on steps to take to achieve this?

There are schools that offer after-degree Bachelor of nursing programs (mostly 2yrs).

First, find out the pre-requisites for the schools u would like to apply to.
For most schools it is usually English 3cr,Arts 3cr, Statistics 3cr, Anatomy & Physiology 6Cr. Some schools also include Psychology. Some schools accept these courses irrespective of when they were taken, while others accept courses taken only within the last 5yrs or 10yrs etc.

Second, If u have not taken any or some of the pre-requisites. U should register and take them well before the deadline. Most people take these courses with Athabasca university online or TRU (but please confirm with the schools u are applying to what they will accept). U can first email a student copy of ur university result/transcript to the schools to confirm what courses u already have and what u will be needing.

Note that some schools in addition to these, may also consider relevant work experience and certifications during the admission process while some schools admit solely on academics.

Most programs start September each year except for a few that have January intake(UCalgary).

Another option is going for the LPN or RPN (licensed practical nurse/Registered psychiatric nurse) program first then the BSNursing later. The LPN program is somewhere b/w 16months to 24 months. Then spend another 2-3yrs converting to BSN. This is a longer and more expensive option but the only advantage is,u can work full-time after LPN while u do BSN conversion part time.

There is also the option of starting afresh with the 4yr BSN program.

Seniors, please I need your response and advice on this

Good day.
Pls can one have more than 1 "goods to follow" list.
Our intention is that we move our goods twice.
Ist set of goods will be at first landing when the whole family first lands
2nd set of goods will be when my spouse is coming back to canada. She will be doing a soft landing to go back & come back in less than 1 year.
Please is still possible? As anyone one such before or know anyone that has done so before to advice.
Will we present the two sets of goods to follow list and explain our intention to the custom people? Please clarify, I beg
Also, what's the procedure or process if the goods to follow will arrive after we land (like 2 weeks after landing). We want to settle in our house before we receive the goods so as not to inconvenient the friends that will be accommodating us in the first 2 weeks of arrival.
My people, pls educate me.
hanks for your usual support

You can put it all on one list. When you arrive, some more paperwork will be given to you by the customs officer and attached to your list. When you go pick up items, the customs officer will cross out or highlight only the items that have arrived, and leave other items yet to come. He will then sign and stamp at the bottom of the list saying "highlighted goods arrived on......". Future goods arriving will be highlighted or crossed out as applicable when they arrive.

please seniors, help me out on this, i beg

The form to fill in the plane, that area of declaring items like diary food, meat...., is it applicable to the items on board(hand & checked-in luggages) with or cargoed items?

Also, as per diary stuffs,is it that all kinds of milk aren't allowed? liquid or powdery

Also for meat, what of dried meat(tinko) or ponmo?

Please clarify

Declaration is applicable to goods you have with you when you travel.

For goods sent by cargo, it goes through a customs check before it is released to you and they remove anything that you are not allowed to have at that time. It's after it gets cleared by customs that you will get a call from the cargo company to pick it up.

No kind of meat or milk is allowed!

cheesy mama d mama! Peeled yam? Ha please explain. Will it last that way? Not one tuber o...like 12 tubers lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

You can't bring in anything that has soil on it. Hence the reason people peel the yam. I think you can bring in the tubers when you send by cargo though. It goes through customs and they can check for soil or pests before releasing it to you.

Great people I got Ppr yesterday.
I got 2 questiins now.

1. I am trying to do ECA of my Nigerian masters and BSC for the purpose of employement and education before I land, are they the same for both ?
2. I have a Masters and Bsc in electrical eng. I did ECA for the purpose of immigration for just MSC will I need ECA for BSC too if I am pursuing employment or any opportunity that require ECA, I intend to work in the IT sector?
3. What type of ECA is appropriate for work purpose ?Is it the same with the one we did for immigration ? Are we expected to do another form of ECA or the one we did for immigration will suffice ?

I need someone to help me with this. Thanks you all.

Congratulations on securing your TRV. With regards to telephone mobile plans and banking institution, I am 100% sure that it has been covered over a few pages of this thread. Here's my suggestion and I hope you find this useful, Please read from page 270 going forward, you will find related answers to this and even more. You would even be amazed at the number of information you will come across that would be beneficial to you in the future. You can also use the search tab and input the key words you require. You mentioned December as the period you intend to move, so you have few months left to gather as much information as you may need. Please use these options suggested to you, you will be glad you did.
Congratulations once again and I wish you success ahead!

hello everyone.

Apologies please if this is the wrong thread. I noticed a discussion some months ago on Quebec.

Pls does any one have a link for the Quebec portal for applying for immigration "Arrima". I understand that from August 1, "Mon Projet" is no longer available.

Thanks.
