is not too early, the earlier the better... admission is first come first serve. I think some schools have open fall 2019 admission session on their website.
Concerning the English test, tell your faculty that you were taught with English language throughout your undergraduate studies, you may back it up with a letter attesting to it. if you are interested I have the attestation letter format, take it to your school and let your faculty officer or registrar sign and stamp it.

Thank you very much! pls send me the format, Here is my mail if need be: sheggzzy.sj@gmail.com

To add to ur comment, most skls In Canada c Nigeria to b English speaking country. U can go to ur university to collect letter of confirmation of proficiency in English Lang. Dat was wat I did
oh...okay.... Thank you
Can i ask how they later proceed with you?
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by makano: 12:18pm On Sep 10, 2018
Wrong moniker please...
segtak25:

Good.

But can you also check your undergraduate school website.
School like University of Nigeria have a portal for test of English proficiency where the school will attest on your behalf and it will be signed by the registrar or so.
It just 5k .You can even collect via email or courier.

So I will advise you to check your school transcript portal first before writing an attestation letter.

It's just an advise, I think will be faster.
Because Nigerian uni are poor with documentation.

Gooday guy!
Am planing for 2019 Fall resumption for a master's in canada (Pharmacy profession to be precise)... I just want to ask if I can start applying now or wait till it get closer....am think if I start contacting supervisor now and telling them 2019 Fall, they might see me as unserious....What do the veterans think
Also,
I dont have any proof of English proficiency cert. and since its well acclaimed that some schools in canada dont require for admission ...so i found usask(University of Saskatchewan) saying international student that trained with English are exempted from tending it, but on getting to my faculty and mailing for enquire they confirmed the cert. as a requirement for admission....
My question is since i don't no when i would be required to tender the result of the test(cert.), do i write the test first before applying (since its for 2019 Fall ), or i proceed to apply while I make plans to take the exams??

Firstly, September is the perfect time to start contacting supervisors. Some even start in August. Trust me, if you wait till Oct/Nov before you email them, they'll tell you they've already taken their students or they don't have funding for you at the moment. So start contacting them NOW.

Secondly, English proficiency certificate is NOT an exam you prepare and write (like IELTS, TOEFL, etc). It is merely an official letter written by your undergrad institution attesting that English was the primary means of communication while you were receiving your undergraduate education. So just contact your sch in Nigeria and enquire about the procedures for obtaining an English Proficiency letter.

. Please who is the letter of sponsorship addressed to? I was told it is addressed to the school where I gained admission but I’m not sure if that info is correct. Please, who should it be addressed to? Thanks
If it is for your visa application, it should be addressed to the Canadian embassy:

The Visa officer,
Deputy High Commission of Canada,
4 Anifowoshe Street,
Victoria Island, Lagos,
Nigeria.

Even though there's nothing wrong is getting a supervisor before application, it is not all universities or all departments that require prospective students to get supervisors before they apply. One has to be sure of this requirement. Many departments offer general funding and assistantship so I don't think hunting for a supervisor is so important. From what I learnt, the department meets over the applicants and potential supervisors select prospective candidates at this point.

Yeah sure. I gave that response on the assumption that his department does require finding a supervisor. Since he was asking when is the best time to contact them.

In my department for example, hunting for a supervisor is an absolute necessity in pretty much every school in Canada (that is, if you are applying fo the research option).

That being said, yes, not all departments require applicants to secure a supervisor. But the OP was inquiring about whether he should contact the profs now or wait till later, to which I advised he contacts them now.

You have a very good profile, so Google search all schools in Canada offering your intended course and start mailing profs in those schools whose research interest align with yours. You should get funding, just work on your SOP and send them your publication.... Best of luck
Thanks FAM! But do I need to send the profs my SOP too?

Thanks and God bless you! I spoke with someone in the Senate and he confirmed that there is an attestation letter to proof that my undergraduate teaching was in English....
So do I write the school informing them while tendering the proof (letter of attestation), or just upload the letter of attestation in the column for proof of English language proficiency when i begin to upload my document?
