From @alibabagcfr - Many people are getting the Kemi Adeosun NYSC matter wrong. She did not claim to have served. She came back to Nigeria when she had passed the age to serve. She was then advised to get a certificate of exemption. She did not think it was necessary because, clearly she had passed the age.

Then someone advised her to get it. Someone said, since she did not serve, BECAUSE SHE WAS OVER THE AGE TO SERVE, all she needed was the certificate of exemption. They went and got it for her. The person who did, SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN HER A LEGIT ONE. She didn't need to be present to get an exemption. So, it's not that she claimed to have served and was issued a certificate for service she did not render. Many people have insurance cover and driving licence that they did not go through a proper driving test to get.

How about Yellow fever vaccine card? Do you know how many people pick up their yellow fever card at the airport, only to reach destination and are told it's fake. I have talked with some people in the corridors of power. The certificate is not the real reason she resigned. It's the reason given. It's election year. Just like #NOI... There are people who want access to certain federal funds, that only she has access to. And like #NOI, she will not play ball. The best way is to discredit her, and put her out of the office, and by that move now let someone who will dance to their tune. ITS ELECTION SEASON YALL. It happened to @sanusilamidosanusi. QED

And who told alibaba that she has past the age of NYSC when she returned to Nigeria, when she graduated before the age of 30?

NORSIYK:
And who told alibaba that she has past the age of NYSC when she returned to Nigeria, when she graduated before the age of 30?

Are you too daft to understand what she wrote in her resignation? Or did you read that she left Nigeria as a teenager to go study in a university abroad, thereby necessitating the customary return to Nigeria that only exist in your own imagination?

She only visited Nigeria with her British passport on occasions. She was never a resident of Nigeria until she was 34yrs. Till today, her parents still reside in the UK where she was born.

Her interests in Nigeria only began long after she had passed the age to serve. Many Nigerians born and resident in the UK have graduated below the age of 30yrs, yet they do not come to Nigeria for any NYSC because they do not have any business with Nigeria besides visiting when a grandparent died or a cousin was wedding.

That they do not have any interest with Nigeria now does not mean they might not show an interest later.

These are the same type of Nigerians that are daily celebrated here on this forum, as working with Google or Facebook or NASA or the White House. Nigerians in the diaspora, like the ones that were on hand to receive the vice president when he visited Google in the US. Nigerians that don't even know that anything called NYSC exist as it remains irrelevant to them, until the day they decide they want to be Nigerians and not American or Briton.

So by default she made enquires about securing an exemption, and one was certainly obtained through her associates from NYSC but fake. It was not obtained under the bridge at Obalende. It was certainly obtained from NYSC officials who gave a document that was not the legitimate issue.

Many Nigerians currently hold particulars that they think is legitimate having been obtained at the legitimate relevant government office, yet they are invalid.

100% on point. Me feels Alibaba is right on this. But it’s left for Kemi, now that she’s out of the country and away from whoever or whatever forces shoved her out to spill the beans. Anyways, whatever is hidden will soon be exposed.

Mr NORSYIK is right.

The moment she became “interested” in Public Office (whether by her desire or the wish of others) that has NYSC discharge or exemption certificate as a prerequisite, then, compliance became mandatory.

Unfortunately, the controversial NYSC Act, subsection 2(2)(a) cites exemption for anyone who at the time of graduation is over the age of thirty. This implies that whenever you return to Nigeria and seem interested in activities that require NYSC, except for other conditions stated under the aforesaid subsection, you must serve! Not so logical considering that we may at different times, urgently require the expert services of Nigerians in diaspora who have in the past found no need to engage in activities within Nigeria requiring compliance with the NYSC act. Perhaps the authors of this act deliberately wanted everyone who graduates or graduated below the age of thirty to serve. I would have suggested an amendment to the subsection to cite exemption “for persons who apply when they are over the age of thirty”.

Thus Madam Adeosun was not qualified fir exemption nor was it appropriate for her to obtain a fake one. I doubt there are other conspiracy theories other than she resigned as soon as her employers, the Nigerian masses, got wind of the anomaly and backed same with the verdict that she resigns. If it is true she was previously blackmailed by sharks, now she is free; at least it doesn’t seem the FG wants to prosecute her.

Perhaps a good head just left. Perhaps a better head may be found to replace her. Do we need to revisit some sections of our bye-laws? Time will tell.

My 2 cents...

So what Alibaba is saying in essence is that Buhari and APC threw Kemi Adeosun, the yoruba version of NOI under the bus to pave way for corruption, I mean to enable them move money for the election without hindrance?? Yet the Yorubas are quite and behaving like nothing happened?? I mean how can abo.kis treat your own daughter this way and you all keep quite shocked shocked Just imagine the disgrace this woman is facing, and to think that her career has been ruined yet she does not even have anyone coming to her defense!! Would buhari treat Adeosun this way if she happened to be a Fulani Muslim woman from the NW?? I have been hearing how people keep calling this guys cowards and slaves, and I thought it was mere rhetoric but with what is happening now I'm afraid it could be a statement of fact!! I can't imagine an Igbo woman say NOI being disgraced like this without Igbos rallying to her defense with all their resources!! It is not ethnocentrism as some people would want to term it but considering how Nigeria is, what is good for the goose is equally good for the gander, and I can say categorically that had Kemi Adeosun been a Hausa fulani Muslim, SHE WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN TREATED THIS WAY cry cry

Ali Baba is ignorant of the NYSC law:

1) NYSC does not issue EXEMPTION to everyone above 30yrs. Excemption is only for those who are ABOVE 30yrs AT THE TIME OF GRADUATION. Kemi was 22 at the time of graduation.

2) If you graduate at an age below 30 and fail to serve (like Kemi Adeosun), the NYSC law says you must serve even if you attain the age of 80. No EXCEPTION for such people.

You igbo youths are doing incalculable damage to the image of your tribe and coming generations of igbo in Nigeria.

What will happen if you igbos don’t get Biafra?

This bigotry has really eaten deep into the fabric of igbo society and it’s so sad to see such a big tribe languish in the abyss of hate. Is it the civil war loss that caused this?

Just consider what your children will go through in this same Nigeria where your likes have burnt bridges with other ethnic nationalities.

Everything no be play. Be serious for once.
