I can’t marry a man who doesn’t have a job and earns a decent salary enough to take care of a man, wife and at least a child.
I can’t marry a man who can’t afford at least a 2-bedroom apartment.
There’s a minimum level below which I can’t go.

If I were a man, I would NOT marry a woman who doesn’t have a job, or self-employed with something that earns her at least enough money to take care of two people.

*-*

Most men I meet now want to know my level of education, what I do for money, and my future ambition. These are the FIRST few questions they ask.
I do NOT blame them at all. These are also some of the FIRST SEVEN questions I ask.

*-*

Dear ladies,

Gone are the days when you will graduate, do NYSC and sit in your “papa house” with pancake on your face, waiting for a Prince Charming to come and rescue you out of your money-less husband-less state.

MOST men now want women who are earning, and ambitious. Even rich abroad guys.
Do you know why “abroad guys” like nurses or girls who are interested in studying nursing or medical courses? It’s because it’s pretty relatively easy to get a job as a nurse or healthcare professional, almost anywhere in the world. These guys don’t want liabilities who would depend on them for money to buy sanitary pads. And they also want someone who will serve as a backbone, hold the forth and bail them out IF they run into financial crisis.

But then, most importantly, get something doing for YOURSELF and for your self-esteem and self-preservation.

When men graduate or attain a certain age, they start hustling to earn at least enough money to start a family. Girls should be doing same. At least, make an effort. Your vagina doesn’t incapacitate you.

Every female human has a vagina. That’s about half the world’s population. What makes you stand out from other “vagina-possessing” humans?

*-*

Happy Sunday, and God bless you. ❤️❤️❤️

dear ladies, if this poster is a woman, then she is what we call bob the builder. A true alpha male would like to know her background true, but to get someone who will pay bills with him? Only losers behave like that. Upon splitting the bills, he will still cheat. ladies be wise.

Since when? The average Nigerian man is not looking for a woman who is financially stable or ambitious because how else would they get you to agree to everything they say whether good or bad, the type of 'ambitious' woman they want is only on paper lol. They will always prefer women who are dependant on them

First of all your topic is wrong
Not all Nigerian girls have that mentality
And there are girls in Kenya, China and America with that mentality. So its not about being a Nigerian.

To every lady reading this, the op has a point.
Invest in yourself, learn a skill, be independent, be an asset not a liability, a blessing to your prince charming not a burden.

A bloody lie

Men love women that they have financial abundance over. They don’t want to compete with their women. This is not only Nigerian men, it’s men all around the world. That’s why older men love chasing young girls, because they know they can dominate financially with no competition.

Honestly if a woman is young and beautiful, Not much going on for herself, she’s more likely to find a man to wife her, than a independent woman who’s hardworking. That’s just the truth. So let’s stop trying to sugar coat things, let’s face reality.

They've come again with baseless assumptions. shocked

Say "my environment, one hardly see ladies with the ambition to hustle". Don't be making hasty generalisations everywhere.

And no, it's not just Nigerian ladies' mentality that they want to be dependent. It goes both ways. Men desire ladies that they have more than and women prefer men that have more economic resources than they do.

As long as a lady is paying her bills legally and morally, I see no reason why she shouldn't have standards and preferences when it comes to a choice of a marriage partner...

Plenty of ambition-less Nigerian girls leaning on men to survive too
Re: The Nigerian Girl And The Mentality by LordKO(m): 7:23pm On Sep 23, 2018
Good points. Meanwhile, while working towards financial emancipation, be success conscious rather than money conscious, and put more effort towards ethical emancipation. Because a financially emancipated woman who's contentious, self-centered and/or greedy is worse than a non-financially emancipated/unproductive but resourceful woman who's meek yet outspoken and contented. A dependent woman who's both unproductive and unresourceful, and insatiable and contentious isn't an option.

A financially emancipated woman who's contentious, self-centered and/or greedy is not different from a man who doesn't believe in gender equality, mutual respect, loyalty, etc, and assumption of responsibility that comes with headship - one who's impunity personified.

Money embedded in ethical toxicity (irrelevant of the gender of the accumulator) doesn't bring inner peace to the beneficiaries. Being small-minded is a sin.

To the proponents of "Nigerian men are afraid of marrying independent women" that's balderdash. Being financially emancipated doesn't automatically make anyone (man or woman) independent. All independent women are financially emancipated (either directly or indirectly), but not all financially emancipated women are independent. Women who're truly independent always command the respect and association of all sane and sound men - a woman's marital/relationship status should never be used as a yardstick to quantify her character.

Being a working class/business owner doesn't automatically mean being financially emancipated, just as being financially emancipated doesn't automatically mean being independent. An independent woman will always be a top pick for every sane and sound man. Independent women are rare to find anywhere in the world.
