Ramj:

To put this argument to bed - MSc holder can teach even BSc holders can teach in the university.

This is the way this thing works. There is a question you would be asked when creating your EE profile under work experience and it comes immediately after they ask for your NOC - that question no be mistake.

Date Sannisege first became qualified to practice in this occupation

Baba if you put your PHD graduation as the answer to this question then i tell you, you would only be getting one year work experience. But since you got the job as a MSc/Bsc holder - that was the requirement to get the job.
Then you need to put the MSc/BSc graduation as the answer to this question.

See the attached - and read the notes carefully.

Ok thanks for the clarification. But can I still claim PhD as my highest degree and get ECA for same?

Good day fams, pls does anyone have an earlier scheduled appointment for medicals either at Children practice or Q-life but would not be going anymore and willing to give out his/her appointment ? Please assist a brother if you can. Thank you
I might be able to help, go t a date for 15th with children's practice but not going anymore. If interested pm me, was going to call to cancel before

Helpful tip: when booking medicals ask if you can be put on the waiting list, incase an earlier date becomes available. I booked medicals at both CP and Q life, got 15th Oct and 1st Nov dates respectively, asked to be put on waiting list for both, got a call from qlife on 27th Sept that Oct 2 was now available since I asked to be put on a waiting list. I accepted sharply grin

My thinking:
1. The Act clarifies the basis upon which work experience should be assessed even If the minimum requirements are not met. It seems reasonable that that if subsections (a) and (b) above are met, then the work experience will be accepted by CIC.
2. It is also reasonable to believe that an application will be given greater scrutiny and may be delayed when an applicant's credentials are vastly different from the employment requirements of the NOC.
3. A Secondary/High School certificate is vastly different from a Diploma, a Degree or a PG Degree and so it might be difficult to present a Secondary School certificate as the basis for an NOC A or B.

My 2cents to @JustCare: Don't try it. You will be required to put in your EE profile the date you became qualified to work in the job. I highly doubt it will fly if you put Secondary School certificate as your qualification for a teaching job. Teaching jobs are NOCs A and B. Finish your NYSC first to get the minimum 1yr working experience required. During your service, you can plan what to do to increase your points and make your Canada dream a reality.

@joo2018 thanks for this enlightening write up. But I would like to ask..

I am actually concerned about your thoughts on point 1 & 2, because I have an engineering degree both BSc & MSc. I also have and claimed 2yrs experience for NOC 4163 which falls under Skill A. Is there a possibility that there may be additional scrutiny on my application?

1. No need to be that concerned. The law states (point 1) that the employment requirements may not be strictly adhered to. Anyway, you are a graduate applying for NOC A. A graduate is a graduate.

2. Plenty of people have gotten PPR with NOC employment requirements mismatch including @Newmum0615 (studied engineering and is in finance) and most people claiming NYSC for points.

3. Case officers are human beings too and may apply added scrutiny if they feel something is off with the application.

4. Added scrutiny doesn't necessarily lead to refusal. Procedural fairness demands that the case officer request for ADR or Interview if he/she is not convinced of the facts of an application.

joo2018:
Interesting discussion earlier between @ramj and @iamkunski. I decided to do a little bit of research before contributing.

To recap:
@ramj wrote that "be informed that any work experience before min requirement for NOC is invalid...any work experience before the NOC's minimum educational requirement does not counts"

@iamkunski accepted that experience gotten during full time study does not count but quoted from here: "Note: The applicant does not need to demonstrate that they meet the “employment requirements” listed in the NOC occupational description."
On this basis, he advised @JustCare who asked: "After my secondary school, I taught in a school for 2 years. Right now I'm about to be called for NYSC. Can I apply with that two years experience while also tendering my BSc as my highest educational qualifiecat?"

Points to note:
1. 3 NOC main groupings for FSW are: Skill Type 0 (zero): management jobs, Skill Level A: professional jobs that usually call for a degree from a university and Skill Level A: professional jobs that usually call for a degree from a university (here).

2.The regulation itself (here): "(3) For the purposes of subsection (1), a skilled worker is considered to have experience in an occupation, regardless of whether they meet the employment requirements of the occupation as set out in the occupational descriptions of the National Occupational Classification, if they performed

(a) the actions described in the lead statement for the occupation as set out in the occupational descriptions of the National Occupational Classification; and

(b) at least a substantial number of the main duties of the occupation as set out in the occupational descriptions of the National Occupational Classification, including all the essential duties.

3. Experience of a fellow Nler @DaddyTheFather (here) who was given an ADR to provide basis of being able to work in NOC 1111 (audit) as he has an engineering degree.

Thanks for clearing this. Also, the part where you input the date when you first qualify to practise under the chosen NOC doesn’t have anything to do with your points calculation. You will still get a full 25 points even if you enter 2018 as the date inasmuch as your Work Experience spans the required 3 years.

To corroborate your point above, I applied for GCMS in August in order to specifically check if my pension fund was considered as the PF is the only source of additional fund to complete my POF requirement. To my amusement, I received my GCMS notes today; lo and behold my Pension fund statement with LeadwayPensure was accepted and considered without any review required. Please see screenshot attached.

In another news!!!

Apologies this is coming late. It’s PPR!!!!

Started this journey in October 2017 after we made a decision to relocate.

IELTS showed me pepper as I had to take it three times:

1st - 10 February 2018 LRWS 6,8,8,7.5

2nd - 24 March 2018 LRWS 7.5,8,6.5,8, when I saw this result midnight of 6 April, I quickly registered for the following day’s test without much preparation.

3rd - 7 April 2018 LRWS 8.5,8.5,7,8. As a result of this third IELTS result, our CRS jumped to 450 from 3hundred and sth(don’t ask me questions embarassed). I would say please don’t give up on this journey because I was almost losing confidence in myself after my second IELTS result as I rarely fail exams. I also got encouragement on this forum seeing some people gave (as our Indian brothers will say) IELTS up to 7 times and now in Canada. Hence, I had to quickly re-take the test to avoid losing momentum.

Timeline

Minimum invited CRS 441
CRS 450
FSWO
NOC 1111
ITA 25 April
AOR 5 June
MEP 18 June
IP1 19 June
GCMS note request 30 August (had to request as I was scared after reading some comments here about Pension fund not being considered by CIC for POF)
IP2 27 September
Ghost update 2 October
Received GCMS 2 October (everything looks fine and I remember sharing here my PF was considered as POF as minimum required fund was marked met)

Then the long awaited golden mail arrived!!!!

PPR 3 October 2018 at exactly 3:39am, can’t remember the seconds grin
No ADR
Family size 3
Ottawa VO

ECA - I used WES but those guys plus our regular naija strike stressed me Walahi; I sha got the completed reports for spouse and myself after 6 months.

PCC - Got for U.K. and Nigeria. U.K PCC is pretty easy to get once you follow instructions on their site. For Nigeria PCC, used inspector Moshood for spouse and myself. He charged us N17,000 because we couldn’t go to Alagbon as all correspondence with him was via email. However, I sent a friend to pick the original certificates from him and scan to me. Contrary to what I have read here, I decided to exclude from my eApr the Alagbon stamped fingerprints papers accompanying the PCC because I felt it wasn’t relevant since CIC only requested for PCC; so I only uploaded the Police certificates with our application. Thank God there was no issue with it. Although, I wanted to take style avoid implicating myself as I was in the U.K. when I submitted my application and the procedure for getting fingerprints done was expensive for me and stressful; so I bought ink pad from one shop and did the stuff in my room, then scanned to inspector Moshood. I felt if I had included the fingerprints with my application, any inquisitive VO may flag that “how did he get PCC as the fingerprints were not certified or stamped by U.K. police &/or Nigeria High commission”. Just my thinking though.

POF - Hmmm, I had to patch this one o; I used Treasury bills from Stanbic as 55% of POF (didn’t include any bank statements), cash in Dom account with a foreign bank was 28% (only submitted stamped bank statements and a letter from the bank stating when the account was opened as I intentionally didn’t want to get the format letter requested by CIC because I have credit card debt with the bank which I wasn’t sure may affect my POF; God had mercy sha) while my PF was the remaining 17% of POF. I prayed o for them to consider this PF as it was my last resort and only hope at that time as I don’t have anybody that can gift me money. Can’t remember the last time I got money gift tongue again, maybe childhood. As advised on this thread, I prepared a table for the POF and explained each, particularly the PF section, very well as I had initially withdrawn some voluntary contributions in 2017 and this reflected on the Pension statements. Had to let them know the withdrawn amount was a voluntary contribution and does not constitute part of the accessible 25% o before somebody will start running around for money way no loss upon ADR for the balance. wink

Work experience - got over 3 years work experience and getting reference letter was pretty easy. God bless my employer. Although, not necessary, I submitted work experience letter for my wife too since we had it readily available.

Medicals - Everything was fine for 3 of us other than the Dr recommending me for a further test because he sighted protein in my urine. God forbid!!! But thank God all was well after the further test although he still included protein something which my Jesus had taken away.

Travel history - just US and UK and no Visa refusal history

Criminal history - None by His grace other than childhood stealing of pencils and biros; and beating traffic lights in Lagos; which Nigeria PCC did not capture. grin

What again??

Ok lest I forget, I got 15 points for sibling in Canada so provided Copies of her PR card, utility bills within 3 months of eApr, marriage certificates and birth certificates showing names of both parents. I included sibling’s marriage certificate and newspaper publication for change of name as sibling is married and utility bill carries husband’s name.

My prayer for all still waiting for IELTS, ECA, ITA, POF and PPR is that it will surely come speedily in Jesus’ name. Amen

This thread is very informative and is got selfless people always willing to share. May God bless you all.

My Uncle got his PPR today.

First IELTS: 7.5, 9, 8, 8
Second IELTS: 8.5, 9, 6.5, 8

I advised him to apply for a remark while preparing to re-write the exam, it came back positive.
Second IELTS was upgraded to: 8.5,9 ,8, 8 and the money was refunded.
The Third IELTS came out as: 8.5, 9, 7, 7

WES was done since 2017.
Documents gathering like Employment letters, PCC and MEDS was done from June to July. POF was in USD and untouched for almost 2 years. He's a single applicant.

He got an ITA on 8th August with CRS 456.

AOR: AUGUST 15
MEP: SEPTEMBER 13
GHOST UPDATES (NOT BY EMAIL): SEPTEMBER 27 & OCTOBER 3
PPR: OCTOBER  5TH MIDNIGHT, DATED OCTOBER 4TH.

He is not based in Nigeria but is currently visiting now till december. I assume he can submit the passport to the nearest VAC like lekki or Abuja, am i right? Or it has to be sent to the LVO based in his location abroad?

I feel awkward posting this because i have been reading silently for years and see that some people are still waiting for the golden mail after several long months, guys do not despair, what will be yours cannot be denied.

For others that are yet to apply, canada awaits you all, goodluck to everyone.
