The United States Department of Justice has denied having any record that indicates that Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has a pending lawsuit in the US.

In an email to our correspondent on Friday, a spokesperson for the US DOJ, Peter Carr said, “Thank you for reaching out to us. I have checked the public court records, and they do not show cases filed against a defendant named Atiku Abubakar.”

This was stated as a response to SUNDAY PUNCH’s request for information on whether Abubakar is wanted in the US in connection with any issue of money laundering.

The mail also asked the department to confirm whether Abubakar has been banned from entering the US and if there is any court case against him concerning the Halliburton scandal which resulted in the conviction of a US lawmaker, William Jefferson.

Asked if it is true that the ex-vice president (now a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress) was banned from entering the US, the American official said the issue was confidential.

He said, “Visa issues are confidential under section 222(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. If your question is specifically about entry – not about visas per se – I would refer you to the US Customs and Border Protection.”

Last week, Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, had implied that Abubakar was avoiding a to the US because he might be charged with a case of money laundering.

He reacted to Abubakar’s interview which he granted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s quarterly publication, Zero Tolerance, where he had accused the Kaduna governor of corruption by offering him Transcorp’s shares.

Is America the 37th state in Nigeria? Or is Nigeria the 51st state in the USA?

Funny enough, if Atiku becomes president, everyone knows this puerile argument becomes rudderless as he would even enter the White House, where most of Atiku's political foes would not even in their wildest dreams enter, to meet President Trump if both wish to hold such meeting.

OP, try another means to market your principal on what he has been doing these past three and half years as this style don expire.

Election is not won on the net. 2019 election will be interesting because it will be North/South west versus North/South east.

Case or no case, that's your business.

We want a home-base president who'll contribute in moving this country forward. Not a dullard who reaches orgasm at the mention of UK.

Not an old dullard who ended up disgracing , embarrassing and exposing his lifelessness to the world before Trump.

Buhari was on US watch list for his islamic extremist views. With presidential immunity, he could finally go to the US with his wife, who was also involved in the corruption scandal.

I don't know about u, but I'll choose someone wanted for corruption, over someone being watched for his extremist views.

I really hope this is true.
At least we'ld have a President that remains in his country grin

As for IPOB denying, if there's anything you'll learn from Biafrans, it is that they hold firm. Buhari has never been accepted in Igboland. Not in 2003..Not now either.

Oga Ade! Who told you it will be between North/South West.
The South West votes will be divided( mind you I'm yoruba).
Even the North votes...North Central votes will also be divided. Benue, Plateau, Kwara, Kogi States.
Don't forget that Taraba( North East) never voted APC in 2015.

Even if Atiku is a direct descendant of Lucifer and a cousin to the devil himself and best friends with Judas, we will try him.Even if he is a paternal uncle to Cain, a distant cousin to Achan, Ananias and Saphira , an elder brother to Pharaoh, a nephew to Herod, Delilah's boyfriend or Portipher's wife's ex-boyfriend, we will still try him. If he ends up like "baba nepotism, recession, 5 percent and 95 percent stereotyping", we will vote him out in 2023. We will keep voting out any error till we get the real deal.Aso rock is nobody's permanent inheritance. We have tried Mr Saint and have seen what he stands for.For now, someone should just get set to focus on raising cows in Daura.

Not interested in this bullcrap you just wrote. This is the problem with yoruba people. Always being oblivious on what is going on. Ibo people will give Atiku their all when he chooses their tribesmen as his vice. It is all about sentiment. Support your own no matter what. If you dont do that, nobody will stand with you when it is your time. You will be there one to lose at the End.
Check this thread to clear your ignorance.
