If you're a first-timer, there is an 'emergency booking' option which you could leverage on. But if you've interviewed within the last 6 months, your best bet is to defer your admission to Spring.

With the rapid reduction in the land area available for farming due to rapid urbanization and fast growth in the population of Nigeria which stands to about 195 million as at October 7th 2018 from the united nations estimate www.worldometers.info/world-population/nigeria-population/ which clearly shows that within just 2 years where the population of Nigeria stood at 185 million in 2016 there have been an increase by 10million, there is a mandatory reason to improve on the agricultural sector of the country even as the land area farmable are drastically reducing as effect to the population growth. Research in crops for more yields with limited space available for production, breeding new varieties with disease resistance and good yield, and more effective farming system through land maximization will be the solution to averting food shortage in coming years.
I hold a bachelors degree in plant physiology and crop production from the federal university of agriculture, Abeokuta and graduated with a second class upper where i worked on the effect of different inter-row spaces of (45cm, 60cm, 75cm and 90cm) by 25cm on the growth and yield of maize where I was able to conclude on a new spacing of 60cm by 25cm with good weed management through effective canopy formations from the results obtained against the already known 75cm by 25cm by the Nigerian farmers and I have it uploaded on www.academia.com for other scientists around the world who might need some information about maize production which has gotten so much views.
With my passion for farming and agriculture, I wish to be more professional in my agricultural experience with almost 4 years of active full field post-graduation experience where I have worked on different varieties of tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, melons, peanuts(ground nut),maize (corn), soya beans and other crops to mention few in a large commercial farm (El-Amin Integrated Farms) as the senior agronomist and also consult for other farms facing one challenges to another in their production like in raising seedlings for productions, crop protection and nutrition, even the farm I am currently working had to make my consulting a permanent job when I was able to resolve their nursery issues and was impressed which had marred their production and market supplies and decide to apply for my masters in agronomy in Kansas state university been one the best university in agriculture and research which would help me to meet my career goals with the help of its highly recognized lecturers which at the end of my program I can impact the knowledge gained to improve the Nigerian agricultural sector as my thesis would be focusing on the production and identification of top performing and hybrids of corn, soya bean, peanut which are the most common crops used as raw materials for finished products by nigerian companies and for food and source of little income by the rural farmers with the rapid reduction in our farmable lands with hope of been able to work with international organizations like the international institute of tropical agriculture(IITA), Food and agricultural organization (FAO) and the likes who are working hard to reduce poverty and famines in developed and developing countries which request for masters degree in agricultural programs as part of their requirements before been considered for employment where I can impact globally and nationally.
Thank you for your consideration.

Greetings!! UG fellow here. I've narrowed my choices to Brigham Young University, Idaho...Cleveland State University. ...Berea College. If there are people that have applied or are in the school on this thread, i would appreciate your advice.

My WAEC GPA is 2.5, would a good SAT score bolster my chances?

I may have to sound blunt. You bungled on the interview as your script has a lot of weak responses. The VO gave you a very long rope. You could have deployed it to your advantage, but you didn't it.

On a lighter note, all hope is not lost. You'll need to improve on your answers.

1. How did you hear about TAMUK
Key: It doesn't tell good of you if your only reason for choosing a school is because it was recommended. You should choose a school out of your convictions and be prepared to let the VO in on those personal appeals.

2. Why TAMUK over others
Key: Give program-specific reasons that contrast with the offer available elsewhere. This is not time to talk about speed of response, tuition cost and whatnot. Sell yourself as a genuine student who has done his due diligence doing an extensive research.

3. Why Electrical Engineering
Key: You just took the VO on a cruise ride to nowhere and ended up saying nothing. What are those challenges in the power sector and how does your graduate training help fix it.

4. Why USA
Key: 2-3 Points here would have sufficed. Next time, choose any 3 and make it strongly worded. You ended it poorly, by asking the VO a rhetoric question. Perhaps, you expected him/her to provide an answer.

5. Your study plan
Key: Talk about your course structure (credit hours and duration of study) and your specific plan during and after study.

6. What will this degree do for you
Key: Let me ask? Did you really decide to do this program, where you urged to go into it or are you using F1 route as vehicle to elope the shores? If you actually decided for this program, tell the VO those motivations. Your response was neither here nor there. One of those cruise ride you took with the VO. You should know the main reasons why you have decided to go for a graduate study.

7. Your academic background
Key: talk about your undergraduate graduation date and degree, and any other academic work you have completed thereafter (certifications and trainings). You didn't need to talk about your unpublished project. Another VO may have chosen to drill you on that and perhaps fault you there.

Feel free to refire. But ensure you get sufficient preparation before going back.

I think this feedback is spot on!

Had my second attempt at the Abuja embassy today.

After seeing 6 people walking out with blue papers, I became distabilized immediately. My heart began to beat heavily and faster. On getting to the V.O, a black woman in window 10, she frowned at my "good morning" and my confidence was reduced to 5%.

I was talking and shaking at response to the questions even though I answered them well, but it was obvious in my response that I was shaky.

I want to take a break on applications and work on my confidence and how to face a v.o

Pls, can anyone suggest a way I can help myself out to build confidence please?.

P. S. I'm a naturally shy type and extremely introvert.

At 29, I can't even woo (toast) a girl confidently. My past relationships were arranged by my friends. It's a secret shame I have been trying to fight but I can't just help it anymore.

Hmm I feel your pains bro. You really need to work on your confidence. The VOs don't like introvert kinda person. As much as possible.. Learn to roll with extroverts. And when you do have an opinion.. Hold nothing back to make your voice heard. With time, you will get over it. Reshoot again. All will be well in the end.

@YoungIncredible:
Do not despair. The issue of lack of confidence and/or boldness is not peculiar to you. A lot of people have faced similar challenges and successfully overcame them. It just takes the will and discipline to do it. You have to specifically tell yourself that you can do it and then look for situations that require you to confidently speak up. Give yourself a time frame to overcome the challenge. Let me tell you a true story to cheer you up. During my undergraduate days, we had a friend who could not look a girl in the eye when talking to her much less talk to a crowd; and it was killing him. The way he addressed it was first to continuously tell himself that he could confidently speak up and face anybody. Next, he looked for situations to practice speaking up confidently. He purposely looked for opportunities to talk with people, especially ladies and people in authority. Initially, he failed woefully at his attempts; but then he began to make success. He joined organizations in school where he had no option but to learn to talk confidently or be ridiculed. Entering his final year, he was contesting for SUG elections. I shared this story to let you know that you can overcome this challenge. Also, if you stay in Lagos or Abuja, you could join the "Toastmasters International" club (they may have in other areas too). Toastmasters International is an international organization that promotes public speaking and is free.

I guess I'll never understand why people try to beat down their age. Isn't it just so much stress, seeing that you have to now falsify every other documents you have?
Lies breed more lies, and it gets complicated as you go on. At some point, it just turns back and bites you so hard.

If you only just gave the agent the result for your application, I strongly advise to take it from him and do the needful: get the waec result that bears your real age.

Is that the same age on your international passport and your other documents or do they contrast?
he said the age correspond with the 160Fm and the passport. He said to prevent him from writing Waec again he decide to reduced the age so it will March we the passport age. Well as a good friend I told him to forget traveling this year so he can write weac again . Gurus wat do you think

You have to watch it as this "innocuous" request is capable of making you vulnerable to touts lurking around for easy prey. Anything worth doing is worth doing well. Nothing good comes easy. You need to take out some time to read up. There are plenty of tips enough to give you a head start. But you need to work. Read everything in Part 13 and you'd be glad you didn't pay a cent to be assisted.

With the rapid reduction in the land area available for farming due to rapid (avoid having same words in a sentence except they are prepositions) urbanization and fast growth in the population of Nigeria which stands to about 195 million as at October 7th 2018 from the united nations estimate www.worldometers.info/world-population/nigeria-population/ which clearly shows that within just 2 years where the population of Nigeria stood at 185 million in 2016 there have been an increase by 10million, there is a mandatory reason to improve on the agricultural sector of the country even as the land area farmable are drastically reducing as effect to the population growth.
This sentence is too long. Break it into 3/4 sentences. For example "Urbanization and an explosive population growth in Nigeria have led to a reduction in land area available for farming. Nigeria's population is currently estimated to be 195 million...

Research in crops for more yields with limited space available for production, breeding new varieties with disease resistance and good yield, and more effective farming system through land maximization will be the solution to averting food shortage in coming years. (Rephrase this to be- The solutions to averting food shortage or crisis in the medium term or in the next 10 years are....).

I hold a bachelors degree in plant physiology and crop production from the F ederal U niversity of A griculture, Abeokuta and graduated with a second class upper (irrelevant- focus on defining the purpose for your studies) where i worked on the effect of different inter-row spaces of (45cm, 60cm, 75cm and 90cm) by 25cm on the growth and yield of maize where I was able to conclude on a new spacing of 60cm by 25cm with good weed management through effective canopy formations from the results obtained against the already known 75cm by 25cm by the Nigerian farmers and I have it uploaded on www.academia.com for other scientists around the world who might need some information about maize production which has gotten so much views. (This can be better framed- I am not sure the admission committee will care so much about the number of views VS the quality of the research work. Focus on highlighted the relevance of this work)
Another extremely long sentence- break this into 2-4 sentences and make your points come across. I guess you are trying to highlight the relevance of your project topic to the problem statement which you had earlier defined.

With my passion for farming and agriculture, I wish to be more professional in my agricultural experience (this is not a well defined goal) with almost 4 years of active full field post-graduation experience where I have worked on different varieties of tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, melons, peanuts(ground nut),maize (corn), soya beans and other crops to mention few in a large commercial farm (El-Amin Integrated Farms) as the senior agronomist and also consult for other farms facing one challenges to another in their production like in raising seedlings for productions, crop protection and nutrition, even the farm I am currently working had to make my consulting a permanent job when I was able to resolve their nursery issues and was impressed which had marred their production and market supplies and decide to apply for my masters in agronomy in Kansas state university been one the best university in agriculture and research which would help me to meet my career goals with the help of its highly recognized lecturers which at the end of my program I can impact the knowledge gained to improve the Nigerian agricultural sector as my thesis would be focusing on the production and identification of top performing and hybrids of corn, soya bean, peanut which are the most common crops used as raw materials for finished products by nigerian companies and for food and source of little income by the rural farmers with the rapid reduction in our farmable lands with hope of been able to work with international organizations like the international institute of tropical agriculture(IITA), Food and agricultural organization (FAO) and the likes who are working hard to reduce poverty and famines in developed and developing countries which request for masters degree in agricultural programs as part of their requirements before been considered for employment where I can impact globally and nationally.
Another painfully long sentence with no full stop. Very easy to lose your reader and sadly, you have a lot of good information lumped in this paragraph.

Thank you for your consideration.

My overall feedback

1. Keep your sentences short and to the point. What is the message you want a reader to take from your statement?
2. Avoid same words in the same sentence.
3. Go with a structure- You can use the outline below (sometimes, the school defines what they are seeking in an SOP)
- First Paragraph: Problem Statement and Interest in providing solution
- Second Paragraph: Background, experience and relevant project work. Focus on relevance
- Third Paragraph: Why this particular school? Why this particular course? What do you hope to learn and leverage? What are your research interests?
- Fourth Paragraph: What will be the added value of your degree once completed? Link this back to the problem statement and define how you will be able to contribute meaningfully with your added knowledge.
4. Articulate your statements to be precise. Avoid long windy sentences that are not precise.
5. Use a full stop (.) to end your sentence.

Writing a great SOP takes time. Put in the required effort (time is crucial) and if you want feedback, I will be more than happy to review another draft.

I really don't know how these things work but can't he request for another waec result bearing his real details from the headquarters while maybe presenting an affidavit? Should cost some money.

With the way things are already, he's gotten his i20 which bears the fake age. His international passport bears the fake age too. If he gets the new waec result, it means it should start to contradict the fake details.

Falsifying documents is just another level of badness, so I'm not exactly sure what to say to you and your friend anymore.

Can someone present student loan as a financial document showing evidence of funding his/her studies at the embassy? The school i want to attend in January is requesting for a bank statement showing $24,000 to cover my tuition fee for a year as a liquid fund. Liquid funds are funds that you can cash out immediately.

My Sister, who is my sponsor does not have $25,000 presently in his account but investment and property tax document valued to cover all tuition fee during my entire stay but investment and property tax document are non-liquid funds, it involves a process to cash out.

Now, I am thinking of getting a student loan with my sponsor (Sister) as the co-signer. She has all the qualifications of being a co-signer in USA.

I haven't read on this platform of students presenting student loan as a financial document during interview when reading their transcripts. This is the major reason why i am asking.

I have a scholarship in the amount of $10,000 which i can present and thinking of presenting a student loan.
Is it advisable? Or its always better to present a bank statement?

Please i need someone to help me out with this. I'll really appreciate.
