Hello All,

When is it the best time to book for medicals and biometrics, is it when one enters the pools or when one gets the ITA. My wife is the PA, 443 is her number(we expect her WES in by next week ending 19th Oct ) but timing is of the essence but by third week in December 2018, her points drops off. So how can we "haste" the process once we get the ITA?

Will answer 1 be applicable in a situation where one has received a request for further medicals from cic?

Still applicable if you will be comfortable doing an X-ray while pregnant. It all depends on you.

These days, people choose to get married and have children in their thirties, rather than at a younger age. Is this a positive or negative development?

This is today's Task 2 writing. What is the best way to approach this?

Thanks

You can either agree that it's a positive development by saying settling down in thirties helps people to gain financial stability, career establishment as well as prepare them emotionally for commitment that comes with marriage. This should be your thesis then, you support these ideas in subsequent paragraphs.

You can also say it's a negative development then give reasons why you think so

@xtosync, @glitteringstar and @tojued

I believe the IRCC tweet is valid. It is a question of misunderstanding.

Yes the requirement for work during school is strict for the CEC program so that people will not cheat the system and use a student visa to claim work points. It also seems generally applicable for FSW as long as it refers to the minimum employment requirements i.e. B.Sc, OND, HND. You cannot really claim a job that you are not qualified for.

The examples in the thread including @dupyshoo are for PG. So yes, a lecturer doing M.Sc or PhD has already met the employment requirements since she has a B.Sc. I'm not too sure of the OND, but I think it may fly.

See @Qsola's link and @glitteringstar's response. https://www.nairaland.com/4212543/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/520#66386132
She did not really clarify and did not add it to her PPR gist.

See another case: https://www.nairaland.com/4212543/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/521#66387172

However to balance it, Section 80 of IRPR states that it is not mandatory for an applicant to meet the employment requirements for a NOC. But in practice (I guess to counter fraud) case officers do sometimes request for ADRs from applicants to clarify how they became qualified to practice a profession.

I did a write-up earlier, you can study it: https://www.nairaland.com/4657743/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/367#71787799

I remember this issue came up about 2 weeks ago and we opined at lenght on this. @Joo2018 nice one as always

The way i explain it is this - you would be asked when did you first qualify to practice this NOC of choice. If you say the minimum requirement
is BSc then any experience gained before or during that course of BSC study would not count.

You can continue with your MSc or PHD afterwards and still be working its allowed .

I hope it helps again.

Many thanks, I get the point about pregnancy. But what I want to know is if the other processes will still proceed if an applicant has a medical history for which IRCC requires additional medical test. Will all other reviews be pending until the result of that test is out and medical is passed?

For those asking about biometrics, apparently you are not required to anymore where the one you provided is still valid......that was not the case when I did it last month, it clearly said you were still required to....I guess they changed the rule.

@Louie36 and @ijeaify

regardless of whether you already did biometrics as part of a previous student or visitor visa application....for permanent residence you need to do biometrics AGAIN....this is my understanding of this link (see below) ..sorry I don't know how to link it like @smslive2.

by the way @smslive2 pls can you teach me how it's done

....anyway it's only if you applying again for another visitor or student visa that you are not required to redo biometrics....

For Medicals, either will do.
Con of before ITA is that if you get COPR, your visa expires 1yr after the date of the medicals. So you calibrate your booking based on how likely you will get ITA.
Con of after is that space for medicals are highly competitive and you may not get the day you want.
It costs you nothing to book. If your IELTS is set, you can book.

For biometrics, you have to wait for the letter.

Thank God for protection.
Consequence of medicals being only done in Lagos and Abuja. Hope IRCC does something about it soon.

@missKeri and anyone else who may need clarity on graduation date and date qualified to work in your profession....your academic studies end date is the date you officially complete your studies. It usually coincides with the date your final results were issued or for most Nigerian schools, the date senate approved your results. Your graduation date is usually the date written on your degree or certificate. Graduation date often comes after your academic studies end date because different schools have different graduation periods. So, if you completed studies say on April 30th, 2017 and your degree was awarded April 30th, 2018, the date you first became qualified to work in your profession is April 30th, 2017.

You don't have to hasten the process once you get ITA. Her age gets locked in once she gets ITA and '5points drop' doesn't affect her again.

Medicals can be done upfront but biometrics is done on request from IRCC after submission.

In recent times, preference is placed on going into a marriage at about ages thirty instead of at younger ages. I would say this is dependent on the individuals; but largely a detrimental development for the females - for the male counterparts, it could be a positive one.

Getting married in the thirties has its full readiness benefits. Having to get married at a later age gives room for much readiness to shoulder the responsibilities associated with marriage. It is logical to have children when one is monetarily/financially, physically, emotionally and psychologically ready; this ensures that one has all the experience that there is for the big step. For instance, the individuals have more chances to have seen, heard and read a lot about parenting and would have more work experience or may even attained a greater financial status all things being equal compared to their young counter part. To this end, older people are better considered ready to get married and have kids.

For the younger counterpart. Their hormones are still very active, especially for the females. It is a known fact that females, once they are thirty-five and above, begin to have reduced eggs to be fertilized, which makes it preferred to have children when they are younger as the chances of conception are higher at the time. For instance, the rate of In-vetro fertilization (IVF) is higher at older ages -- records show that people within the ages of thirty-eight and above are often candidates for IVF; this is not the same for younger people. The problem that younger people would face would be lack of emotional and financial maturity to handle the exigencies of marriage and parenthood. However, this can come in as time goes on - the individuals involved can learn on the Job

To this end, if we should consider the difficulty that older people would face with childbearing when they are older - which often becomes a nightmare, it would be considered a negative trend to wait till when older to get married and bear children.

I scored a 7 in my IELTS writing Sept 8, 2018. You can ask me questions on the structure and my belief about IELT writing.

NB: I typed this on the computer, so I noticed when i typed wrong words because the computer highlighted them but I didnt change them so that I could be original. I seldom have wrong spellings and bad use of words, or language.

When I did my IELTS, I tried very hard NOT to use words that I was not sure about. I would get low marks if I did that.

Notice that I used one idea for each paragraph, and my paragraphs had opening topic - ideas, supporting sentences, examples and closing topics. Then my opening paragraph was a direct paraphrase of the question, which mentions my stand on whether the development is positive or negative. My conclusion also stated emphatically why I thought it was negative.

Tell me what you think about my approach.
