Afobear that's the sad story of many men of the older generation who naively showed a good hand while in public service in this nation. My Dad too was victimised in the airforce. They used to call him Accountability. Alas, the country is rotten to the core. Make I free una with politics as ykalhaji has pleaded. Lovely Sunday to you all.
Hope you're back? I no wan talk sha.

congrats to Ighalo and Rohr but I still have my reservations, hence , I dont share your jubilation about Ighalos hatrick yesterday.

Penalty, potential offside, scrappy goal, see how he messed up what would have been a striker's goal from Ndidi's long ball, Kalu's low cross that would have been an easy tap in, check out his positioning from Collins's marauding run, look at his poor controls and lack of pressing sense. At a time Iwobi was the one doing the pressing while our supposed top striker was no where to be found, he didnt even care to cover up for iwobi, hence leaving a big space btwn the attack and the midfield, thoughtout my playing days I was thought that strikers draw the most fouls which help win his team some freekicks and penalties, but in Ighalo's case, dude committed more fouls than his markers. Dat long ball from Ndidi that he messed was reminiscent of what Percy Tau used to put us on a sharp knife edge in that same pitch and goal post against SA in the first match of this qualifiers

This is Rohr trying to justify his unexplained belief in Ighalo. His hattrick yesterday was just an attempt to put lipstick on a pig.

Ighalo is not the striker who will take us to the promised land. He is a fully grown striker who is still learning how to play the position at this late time in his career. Not a recipe for sustained success at the highest level. When we start playing real teams like we did in Russia, then you will find out you have been sold a bill of goods again. Believe Ighalo and Rohr at ur own peril

Who won the penalty and wasn't he pressing? The missed chance was poor but Kalu and Musa missed more. Collins refused to pass and ighalo stayed for the cutback or a rebound. I can't fault him because you know when a guy won't pass you the ball.

How can you say he committed more fouls? were you not watching the match? None of those fouls were real, is it because we barely got to see replays. The referee was making invincible calls

What I saw was every single player wanting Ighalo to score and that is rare in Nigerian football. He made the difference and must be given credit.

We need a kind of Rawlings approach to this kwaruption fight.

Then I'm still sad that people don't know the power their unity against our government can cause. We can ground the economy and make demands and the international audience would be right there. I think the political elites would be careful and align.

It's said that no one under 40 has the trust of Nigerians. Is this a civil war virus?

That talk of "let someone that knows the history rule us" and now see what the historians have done so far.

I'm very impressed with the way the Kenyans have upgraded their stadium.. the pitch is world class...

That Uyo pitch was looking poor yesterday.. I'm sure its due to the recent political rallies being held there . with the election around the corner, most of d stadium pitches will have depleted when it's time to face Seychelles...
I have been hearing of a football boom to come in East Africa. They say our players will start venturing there for the cash.

I was told they don't do rallies there. They use the old stadium for that. It is even more perfect for that purpose as it is by a market so it is a win win.

He was the one that said "See the pass that he passed" years back.

Yesterday I heard a funny usage of English from him as well.

As at the time the score was 3-nil, Ikpeba says "And now Nigeria are leading"

Pls did we lose a lead, and regained it back or what? And besides since its not Madrid we were playing, was he expecting a comeback from Libya?

I dey fear all hin commentary o. na hin voice me sha hear. poor altogether grin

NGR 4-0 LBY: Five Hot Talking Points

1. Ighalo back with the goods: Just as pressure keeps mounting on the Changchun Yatai forward anytime he's called up to the national team, he made good of the occasion against Libya. He scored a fantastic hat-trick, becoming the first Nigerian to do so since Nnamdi Oduamadi in 2013. It might now be four goals in his last two appearances for the Super Eagles, but in truth, Ighalo was largely poor on the day, looking for needless penalties when he should have scored and lacking composure in front of goal.

2. The Iwobi show: It hardly needs to be emphasised that the Arsenal star is at his best whenever he plays the number 10 role. That was how Rohr employed him against the Mediterranean Knights in Uyo, and he proved to be the real deal with his passing always initiating attacking moves. One of which resulted in an Ighalo goal and another, almost a maiden goal for left full-back Jamilu Collins. It is the hope now that Rohr realises that there is no one better suited for that role than Iwobi.

3. Kalu is still hot: The Bordeaux man enjoyed a fine debut against a lowly Seychelles side, but this tie against Libya was always going to be a big test. It proved to be the case, as he was found wanting all game, needlessly aiming for goal when he should have passed to a teammate. Fans grew uneasy as he continued to feature on the pitch, but the former Gent winger wrapped up the evening with a curling shot from outside the 18-yard area that took viewers off their seats.

4. Bad Uyo pitch: The game was initially billed to be played in Kaduna, but poor pitch conditions meant it was moved to Uyo. It proved to be little improvement, with the playing surface an eyesore to spectators. Although the Godswill Akpabio Stadium has been the permanent home of the Super Eagles for quite a while now, the turf keeps deteriorating due to poor maintenance. It might not be worthy to be played on again if standards don't improve.

5. Poor refereeing: Ighalo might have been the centre of attraction in Uyo, but it's hard to leave out centre referee Jean-Jacques Ndala Ngambo, who made a number questionable decisions especially in not awarding the Libyans what appeared to be a couple of clear-cut penalties, which irked the North Africans. Perhaps if he hadn't erred, Nigeria wouldn't have enjoyed such a comfortable victory, and the 1982 Afcon champions will be hoping to make amends in the return leg.

Its wrong to make this conclusion after just 10mins of play and one missed chance. Well moreover he is not built as a striker, he is a natural winger, he will be bullied by defenders. but he is a good winger the problem he has is always drifting into the box.

The funny thing is, the post you are reacting to was actually made BEFORE the Libya match.

This judgement is not based on one match alone. Onyekuru is no striker.

. One question for you: The penalty Ighalo scored, who got fouled? This is in reference to your point about him not winning fouls for the team. Besides,no one is asking you to be carried away. Just don't discredit his efforts. He might have made some poor decisions(which is normal) but he made 3 good decisions that led to three important goals. Last time I checked, good always trumps bad. I'm not saying Ighalo is above mistakes. What I don't like is when people like you overlook his good efforts and focus SOLELY on his bad. That's unacceptable to me. Next time, learn to give honour to whom honour is due. The guy scored THREE GOALS at home. Deal with it.

Owngoalnigeria.com witnessed the game live at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium and our correspondent reveals the five things he noticed about the Super Eagles in the course of the win over the Mediterranean Knights.

1. Jamilu Collins Should Be Eagles First Choice Left Back- He is what Nigerians have been crying out for. A quick left full back who can defend, attack and also contribute to team balance. Barring a criminal loss of form, the Paderborn left full back has no doubt cemented his spot as first choice at left back for the Super Eagles.

2. Alex Iwobi Is A Classic Number 10 – Playing alongside creative players like Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil, Henrikh Mkhitaryan among others has helped his decision making particularly this season under Unai Emery. He operated as a classic number ten as he was not just assured in possession, he picked his passes at the right time and also executed them with minimum fuss.

3. Ekong Is Most Improved Player Under Rohr- If there’s an award for the most improved Super Eagles player then Ekong should win it. His growth is phenomenal both at club level and at international level where he is now one of the captains of the team. Yesterday’s game showed how well he has matured from 2013 when he first played for Nigeria.

4. Samuel Kalu ‎Is A Mix Bag Of Pleasure & Pain – Never has a player integrated so fast into the team like Kalu has in such a short time but his decision making is stil a big worry. The Bordeaux forward is usually caught in between shooting or passing and more often than not he took the wrong decision during yesterday’s game. He still has it in him to come good.

5. Uzoho Is Nigeria’s Best For Now – Francis Uzoho wasn’t quite troubled yesterday by the Libyans but his save in the first half played a big role in the 4 -0 win because if the first half header which he saved ‎had gone in Libya would have draw level. The decision to make him the first choice goalkeeper of the Super Eagles appears to be settled for now.
