I started a thread yesterday( https://www.nairaland.com/4805373/how-petiton-bank-holding-money) which was intended to seek support and advice from nairalanders. i BEGGED the mod to push it forward but they didnt. I did an online transaction of 100000 yesterday 23rd October which is the last money I have right now and what I use to run my small business and my major means of survival, however the transaction failed but when I tried to do the transaction again I discovered the message from the merchant was I didnt have enough funds, I didnt get any debit alert but 100000 was deducted from my account from access bank. I called the bank and they said it was from the merchant and I should get the merchant to confirm that the transcation didnt go through that once they get the confirmation they will release the funds. I got across to the merchant and they sent a mail confirming that the transaction actually failed and access bank is holding my money and the money should be released to me. I borrowed some money to make calls and I called their contact center all through the day because that is my lifeline and I have to pay loans at the end of the month. After calling me at night that they will manually release the money, Access bank now debited me again around 2am this morning and claimed I did a transaction at night which I didnt do. This is what they sent to me today Dear Mr. *****, We acknowledge receipt of your mail on a failed POS/WEB transaction. Please note that reversal of a failed POS/WEB transaction is resolved within 10-12 working days from the date of receipt of your complaint. @COdeGenesis Take it easy, bro... and i'm saying this with as much kindness as I can infuse into this post. Believe me, it is not the end of the world. I've been there, so I understand the anguish your soul feels at this kind of insensitivity - almost pushed me to consider robbing a bank once. I don't talk about it much, but I know in my heart it was something I almost did - I have a cause-and-effect kinda mindset and I never leave things to chance, I probably would have succeeded - but thankfully it was a path I didn't take. Scary how close our stories could have turned out to be something else, right..? Sadly I honestly don't know who to suggest you contact/tag, what with how things work in Nigeria. What i can advise however is reach out to your closest friend (or family sibling). Trust me, burdens shared always become lighter - even when the person doesn't actually do anything to help, just listening to you can make so much difference. Don't give up, bro. Stay strong, there's light at the end of that tunnel. |

But I thought that CBN has ordered every bank to reverse any failed transfer back to the account owner within 24 hrs? This country sef. Nawa . |

Op, seems you're new to online transactions! When you make a purchase online, the money first gets quarantined meaning it's still in your account but on hold by your bank. This means it will appear like it was deducted but it wasn't, if the transaction fails the bank will still keep the money on hold regardless, but in the real sense the money is still in your account. If after some time the funds is still not requested by the merchant the money will be released back to you, this usually takes 7days to 30days depending on your bank. Go back to your bank and ask to speak with the manager, the person you spoke to is inexperienced at such and don't know what he / she is saying. BTW, if 100k will make you feel sucuidal, then don't gamble with it. |
