Pls I have a Redmi 5 Plus with MIUI 9.6, shall I update to 10.2.0?
The 9.6 still fells pretty awesome.

Be rest assured that some themes on 10 wont work fully and some wont be compacktable

How can I know if my bootloader is unlocked please. I am using redmi note 5 ai and I can't seem to find developer's option under additional settings.
But if I on the phone while it's booting, I see an open pad displayed at the bottom of the screen below the mi logo. How can I know if my phone is unlocked please?

Tap the miui version 7 times to enter developer mode, you can view your bootloader status there.
