I'm just new on this thread:
Just a quick question: if I invest 500k into money market how much are my excepted to get at end of 90days...

Which money market is better and will affect my principal?

My brother if you invest 500k for 90 days,

if I base this on the assumption of the MMF that I operate, you’d get roughly 14,850 and that will represent a 2.97% increase in returns on your investment,

90 days is a short period in investment, as this won’t afford your money to enjoy the miracle of compound interest for a long period , try out the medium term investment say between 5-10years and watch the power of compound interest

I stand to be corrected though

Just the same as treasury Bill in interest...

Thanks for your kind response.

500k for 10yrs with stanbic gives how much

maishai:

500k for 10yrs with stanbic gives how much

Depends on how you intend to run the MMF, would you be reinvesting monthly for that 10 year period or you just want to put in the 500k once and let it stay for 10 years

If you put in 500k once and leave it for 10years without monthly reinvesting at the end of 10years , going by an investment calculator, at interest rate of 11% you will get 1,494,575

But if you instead decide to make an initial deposit of 500k and you reinvest 20k everymonth for 10 years at 11% interest rate you will get #5,874,321 after 10years

Leaving this same amount for 20 years with monthly reinvestment of 20k will give you #21,938,969

The longer you invest, the higher the yield , rich people invest for the long term

Warren buffet didn’t become rich until he was 60 years old

I don't have skill to grow business. And it's dangerous for me to do what I don't understand .

I love to partner with viable business that has a good track record.

The reason I suggested petty business is because, you want higher returns with a short run period

Funny enough, you can do both investment in mutual funds and also do petty business for fast liquid cash and bigger returns

I have a shop where I sell wristwatches , some come wit a cost price as low as 400naira and I sell them for 2k, that’s 400% returns on my investment in that watch excluding expenses incurred in procuring the watch

Most of mmf accept 5k
You can try any of the following : axa mansard, arm, fbnquest, stanbic
Interest is on a daily basis and are being added on every working day.
You can choose dividend payout or reinvestment at every quarter.
NB: Interest rate varies
I hope this little explanation helps. Others can also add to it. Just ensure you do a little research on your own

Sure it did.. thank you for your response

Depends on how and when you will need part of the cash. If you would need any part of the cash anytime soon, do a Money market fund, but if you leave the money for a long time, you can do Treasury bills.

The interest of 10m in TB let's say for half a year at the current % ain't cool jor, compare to last year when I did 5m with income of about 500k at %18 for half a year. Check my previous posts from July last year to September. Don't you think he should be patient as TB can still go up to %18? My opinion.

Should I trust Stanbic IBTC with my money if they keep making silly mistakes like this

1. I paid some money into my money market fund and they posted it twice in error. Almost three weeks later they have still not been able to do a reconciliation and correct the issue

2. I moved some money between mutual funds , from bond fund to guaranteed last week monday, 8 working days after, they have not credit the guaranteed with the money but they have taken the money out of the bond ( different money from the one above)

I have sent emails which they have not responded to , I am not sure if i have to go to their office

[s]Please can you give us more info on this Guaranteed Fund? What instruments do they invest in? [/s]

Just read up on it, 75% money market, government bonds etc and 25% equity. Principal is guaranteed, but not profits, I think money market is sill better, depending on your portfolio. For someone like me who already invested directly in equities, I think the money market fund is still better to reduce and properly balance my exposure. This fund I think is perfect for those who need a little exposure to the stock market.
Re: Mutual Funds by anori: 9:45am On Nov 08, 2018
GonFreecss1:

You don't understand me. Yes it goes up, but it's exposed to the equities markets. Which means even if your capital is guaranteed, your profits are not. All it takes is a bear market, to do the fund in. I am only trying to explain what you are invested in, I am not criticizing it. Like I said it's perfect for those who don't have an exposure to the stock market and want to mix their Portfolio up without stressing themselves buying equities themselves.

And you aren't taking on board what i said. Yes the ratio of investment is accurate it is exposed to equities but a maximum of 25%. Because of that a bearish market will not 'do the fund in' because it still earns from the less risky 75% investment. From the stand point of which fund would make more money I would recommend GIF in the long term. I have historical data and 4 years of experience in the fund and its about to pass through a second election period. I have invested in GIF and MMF since 2014 and I have gotten higher returns from GIF than MMF in the long term. MMF is more of a short term investment option with minimum risk. Since you invest in equities you would understand the benefits of holding and the long term gains unless you are a day trader or you prefer the minimum risk from the Mutual Fund.

Yeah. I get you. I love me some equities to be honest, what about the fees? Is it as high as Money Market fund or lower?

Is it as liquid as Money market fund? (I.e. the ability to remove it anytime as you like after the first 3 months)

Finally I am assuming you don't know the equities they are involved with, and have no access to the dividends on each stock, just the capital appreciation on said Equities? Final question is, would I benefit considerably from buying in a bear market? I.e. just like buying undervalued stocks in a bear market and making really nice returns in the bull market?

Sorry for all this questions, I have found out sometimes it's better to ask people using a product questions than customer service. Thanks in advance.
