Good day nairalanders.I currently live in Lagos, married with 2 kids of primary school age.I'm currently tired of the Nigeria business atmosphere. I want to relocate to Abidjan by January 2019 with my family,as I speak about 50% French, my wife too, been that we have been trading cars between Cotonou and Nigeria.

My questions*
(1)
Can I be able to set up a private business in Abidjan with #2million naira I have saved
(2)What can I be buying in Nigeria and selling in Abidja, since I'm already used to the west African borders and south education on ECOWAS and NEPAD treaties?
(3)what part of the country will be suitable for me and my family?

(4)outside the #2million for business purpose, can I be able to buy a car that I can always drive to Nigeria during the Yuletides?

(5)been that Lagos has almost all goods,What particular items can triple my money when sold in Abidjan?

(6)Are their Authorities (police) flexible?

(7)what transport company can convey good from Lagos to Abidjan and the modality for settlement ?do I pay every expenses in Nigeria, including all custom charges before my goods can be moved to Abidjan?

Please your candid advice will be highly appreciated.

Yeah, I really wish to contact her but the stories I have been hearing and my personal observations about their girls is scaring me. I wouldn't want to loose focus (have many things to achieve first. Not a Saint oooooh!) But honestly, these people live a weird life. I don't advise any man to raise a family here. I went out yesterday to buy Banana, unfortunately the seller couldn't understand me so she called a girl to interpret for her. At the course of the interpretation, I found out that the girl is a Nigerian. Do you know what she does? Prostitution. A teenage girl of about 16-18 years. Ivorians generally seem to be nice and friendly. Please feel free to ask me your questions here. It was by others' questions that I learnt what took me to this country. Feel free to ask, I don't think anything should be hidden as they even show porns on their cable TV here. Lol

Good day sir.
Answers to your questions ;
1: Yes, you can but it depends on the type of business and the person/s that help you start.
2: From my experience, Lebanese are major auto dealers here. I always envy the business but have no knowledge about it. Investing in auto business will be a great idea here but your 2 million is what I am not sure can fit into the business. I heard a rumor that cars above 5 years can't enter the country again.
4:2 million may be able to buy a car here depending on the type and model. A friend told me of his brother that registered his wife's car with 2.5 million CFA. Registration cost here can buy a car in Nigeria. Though it depends on the car and model but it's very costly.
5: Anything Auto.
6: Very friendly from my experience. I have been stopped multiple times by them and each of the times, they always greeted politely before any question. One day that I was looking for a particular office, a police officer I approached helped me with the location.
7: The Young Shall Grow.
My advice; calm down and plan very well. Abidjan is very costly. Whatever you spend in Nigeria in a month, you will spend triple or more here. As a family man, English schools here are expensive. But if you are determined, you can make it. Nigerians own hotels, houses and many big investments here. If they could, you can too . Thanks

It's seems it as become imperative of me to talk since you mentioned orelope transport even though I didn't want to chuk mouth earlier when you were asking if there is other alternative transport aside ejigbo. Well your best bet would have been to just enter cotonu and take UTB to abidjan direct.but since you still consider orelope transport I can give you the first hand info.orelope leaves on Sundays to and fro from abidjan and Wednesday. Sundays bus fee is 20k naira or 30kcfa depending on the currency you which to pay with. The duration of Sunday buses is 3days that means they arrive on Tuesday and they usually carry goods along while that of Wednesday which is 27k naira or 40kcfa usually don't carry goods along and they arrive the following day which is Thursday.Sunday buses are not ac fitted while that of Wednesday is ac fitted.

100% CORRECT!!

I want to know if I can be buying weapons and other women attachments from Nigeria in large quantity and sell them in Adjame market ?

Apart from the above, can it be possible I join the second hand clothe market to double my capital of 2m naira in a year?

Thanks

Yes, you can. It will be a great business idea, though our people are not into the business. It is mostly controlled by the Malians and Yorubas. But it will be very lucrative. When you get ready, do let me know, I will explain in details how to go about it. At your spare time, visit Breadfruit market Balogun for sourcing inquiries.

thanks to everyone who has contributed positively on this thread. we love u guys and we appreciate your good work.

Severally it was mentioned that Abidjan is expensive, come prepared. so my question is, u mean if u don't have above 500k-1m, no need going to Abijan. I guess there are few people who went there with little or no cash, so how did u guys survive. there should be some secrets that are not revealed that we need to know.

Actually I am considering Gabon and Ivory coast but seems I am scared of ivory coast based what I have read so far. meanwhile I plan coming over with just 400k. So for some of us who have been to these two countries I mentioned above, what is your advice for me? I want to go straight into biz and I have little knowledge of French language.

Moreover I intend leaving here between now and 20th of November.

thanks for your contributions. God bless u all

Abidjan is more easier to settle than Gabon. For Gabon you need to secure your Visa before leaving Nigeria else na straight deportation. Gabon is more expensive compare to Abidjan. My 2 cent

OK.though I'm used to border crossings, but will need information on customs duties(point of payment and rates)
What neighborhood will be OK for me to stay with my family and not spend more than 50k CFA a month on a room and parlor in average meet environment.

If there are other items that can move market in Abidjan, please do let me know.

1. We took off around 10:00 am on Tuesday and arrived Abidjan around 6:00pm the following day

2. Yes. Especially if u crossing for d first time. Charges include Yellow fever vaccination card @N3000 (U can also get it in Nigeria @N1000). I'll advice U get it on ur way cos they might refuse to accept d one done in 9ja. U also pay small money at d border (CIV). Carry like N1000 for for loading dee at d park.

Generally YSG settles most of d immigration charges. I'll advice U hold extra 5k.

3. U can buy food with Naira. But It is advisable U change Ur money at d border first to avoid being extorted. N1000= 1600CFA

APus please I’d like to discuss with you can you send a pm or maybe mail me gideonoko76@gmail.com or even WhatsApp !! Really urgent thanks

50k a month? That doesn't seem realizable . Budget 100-200K. But I advise you visit first and have a little experience before relocation. Abidjan is very expensive compared to life in Nigeria. I have said it several times in the past. Please plan very well

I think with your 300k naira you can do better in Nigeria. Trying to relocate outside Nigeria with such amount does not make sense to me. I think it's better to look for a cheaper city in Nigeria and relocate.God bless you.

Thank you @ roughdiamond.

I do not have any iota of believe in Nigeria anymore. I want to relocate to a country where things work.where the GDP grows, where I can have constant electricity and steady life.

I plan opening/starting a bakery there in CIV. I have been able to raise #3m so far.I also plan to use another 1m to get an apartment, my kids school and other householdthings we may need.

You can recommend me a lawyer that will help me with the necessary registrations of the business. I'm currently learning the ropes at my in-law bakery in Lagos as I type.I plan leaving Nigeria by January 2019.
