The controversy surrounding the West African School Certificate (WASC) Examination result of President Muhammadu Buhari was laid to rest on Friday as the West African Examination Council (WAEC) handed to the President the attestation of the certificate issued to him in 1961.

This sparked outrage among Nigerians who feel the president and the examination body are being dishonest over the issued certificate as they want to know why the President’s current passport photograph was used in the new certificate for an exam which was written in 1961.

However, WAEC went further to explain – “since it is an attestation and not the original certificate, the passport photograph that was submitted during application is the one that would appear on the certificate when ready.”

A man identified as Ebiware Tevin took to Facebook this morning to enlighten Nigerians on the issue of current passports used for attestation certificate as he shared pictures of his friend's WAEC certificate to use as an example.

But Nigerians noticed something else as it was discovered that the president's WAEC attestation certificate does not have original certificate number as seen in the man's certificate below.

Buhari's original certificate number shows N/A which is not supposed to be so since it was stated that he wrote the exam many years ago.

Nigerians are now asking what happened to the omission of the original certificate number on the president's certificate.

Did you see Buhari's registration number on that certificate? That alone can be used to verify if a candidate actually sat for an exam(don't know if you can go as far as 1961).

On WAEC's website, the requirements for an attestation includes a photocopy of your certificate(where applicable) which the old man has no hold of.

My dear Buhari/WAEC have simply enmeshed themselves in more scandal than what they ever bargained for. Most of us wrote this same WAEC too.

The most important thing that identify an individual is the exam/candidate no.Buhari's high school back then gave his candidate no as 002 from the alleged school's WAEC broad sheet.

Today same WAEC be it in Ghana or Nigeria that said they dont have Buhari's record in their archive four years ago, didn't only provide him an "attestation" certificate but that with a "NA" exam/candidate number.

So WAEC is stupidly telling us anyone can sit for it exams without an identification number? What becomes of this result? It may even be a case if identity theft.
