ekpotek:Thanks very much. We attached almost all of these or even more to those 2 applications so I keep wondering why I was refused both times. |

Good evening to you all. I intend visiting my Uncle and probably spend the Christmas with him and his family. He lives here while his family resides in UK. I have a steady job which brings in 65k every month, but lately i decide to start a poultry and catfish farming which is yielding a reasonable but NOT STEADY income. I’m just confused when my Uncle said he’ll be attaching his passport with mine in order to stand a better chance. I have the following documents to back up my profile; 1) Employment letter 2) Salary account statement 3) 2 Personal account statement(s) 4) Tax receipt for my business 4) CAC docs for my business 5) I’ve been to Ghana twice 6) Getting married next year but engaged Please is it really possible to attach my passport with his? |

Dear Justwise and all the gurus in the house, Pls I need to ask a question about application for 2-year UK Visit Visa. Got the 6 month Visa last year Sept i.e 2017 (first time application), went to UK in 2017 and spent 11 days hols and came back, though branched in Dubai just for 2 days,Thereafter was denied US Visitor Visa with mum under Section 214(b) in Dec 2017 (No specific reason explained by the US consular) and now wants to do the UK 2-years for self only. In the sections asking if you've been refused before- ticked Yes but further ask to give more details in a box. Can you please help on what can be filled here? NOTE: Nothing has really changed since the 6-month Visa was granted except the US refusal. Thanks to revert ASAP |

ayodejicrown:Section 214(B); Insufficient Ties.... Explain nothing further, you hardly will have anything concrete to explain further anyways! |

Hello gurus in the House.. Please I need some advice here.. I am inviting my friend for my graduation in the UK.. so all documents on my part are intact he will be staying with me. I have letter from school Tenancy agreement My tier4 VISA etc. On his part however, although he is working and earning about 180k problem is that the salary gets paid from a ‘personal account’ (I know Naija business and anyhowness) although it is shown constantly over the months. 2. Second issue there has been huge inflow and outflow over the past months over 80m through the account with a present balance of about 1m (he handles projects hence the amount) again transferred mostly from personal and sometime corporate account. So question is: will receiving salary from a personal account be a problem and does he have to explain all the random transfers through his account. Wil this show sufficient ties to Nigeria? Ps:the only travel history he has is Russia World Cup. Gurus Please Advice |

Very good morning to my peeps here. Still on my tourist visa formy. .. I applied for a visit visa in 2004 which was refused. I have no refusal reference and passport...Can't even remember the reasons for refusal. 1. Pls how do I explain this in the form? 2.OR is it better I ignore since it's a long time ago (14yrs) |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by edmasta01: 6:34am On Nov 08, 2018 |
tasho105:Please don't ignore. You don't need to have the reference number. Simply state that YEs, you have been refused before. If you don't remember the exact date, but you know the month and year, simply state the month and year. If you only remember year, state the year. Explain further in the extra page for "more info" that you have been refused back in 2004, you can't remember what date/reference no it was, as it's been a long time. Whatever you do, don't lie. Do not be economical with the truth by ignoring it either. If you do..na automatic denial be that. |

Ojoaccess:My stated salary was my monthly gross minus the PAYE. I did not sponsor my wife. She sponsored herself, in order to reduce complications. My budget was 1,396 GBP, while hers was 1,025 GBP. They did not add up to our 2 months salaries. |

folla:congrats to you both! That's a good one. Your post is uplifting. and gave me hope.It was very insightful.please I.need some clarifications. I have a similar profile with you.I applied too in October but was denied because they said I had unexplained deposit which happened to ne my fixed deposit. Although I did not include the certificate from my bank, but I explained in my cover letter. that it was my fixed deposit. I was told I needed to explain the source of the fundd. So now, 1. who gave you the lettet you referred to in number 7? Did you write the letter yourself or the letter originated from your bank? 2. How did you prove the funds belonged to you and was not for the purpose of facilitating your visa application? 3. please kindly show a breakdown of yoour costs. 4. how many days were you planning to spend and the cost of you hotel accommodation. |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by folla: 9:07am On Nov 08, 2018 |
kokoli:1. We wrote the letters ourselves and addressed them to: "The Consular General, British Deputy High Commission, 11 Walter Carrington Crescent, Victoria Island, Lagos". 2. We did this by supporting with fixed deposit certificates. You must note also that our 6 months payslips show how our salaries were paid and how transfers were made from there to the investment company. 3. For instance, my costs added up to 1,396 GBP and the breakdown is as follows: 775 for air ticket; 371 for accommodation; 150 for feeding for 10 days; and 100 for intra-city transport for 10 days. My wife had similar costs minus accommodation. 4. We plan to spend 10 days during the Christmas holidays and hotel for 9 nights costs 371 GBP. |

ekpotek:Dear Ekpotek, I really appreciate your response and analysis on the matter. We submitted all the items you talked of in Item 1 except the school result. For item 2, I paid his school fees in January 2018 and it did not reflect in his statement because we printed 6 months statement and submitted. His allowance is mostly given as cash or I tell his brother to give him while I transfer to his brother. For item 3 it was not 3 million but it was N3,000.00 that was the balance. I will appreciate if I can get a way to explain the Financial ties as identified in bullet point 3 because he is a student and does not have any money and most times as you send to him, he will withdraw and use.I will appreciate your advice. |

| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by justwise(mod): 10:42am On Nov 08, 2018 |
enigmang:How much will the trip cost him? Yes he needs to explain the inflow and out flow of those huge amount that goes through his account. Surely the cash-in-hand payment has to be explained. |

| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by justwise(mod): 11:12am On Nov 08, 2018 |
ayodejicrown:That does not answer the question and will leave the ECO guessing what that meant. State clearly the reason for the refusal as was written in that paper given to you by the VO I rather you ask me any question you have here |

justwise:Thank you soo much Justwise for your response. The trip will cost him <£1k - £1k5. It is basically a 5day trip and i am taking care of accommodation and feeding... so he really just needs Ticket + beer money. Can one call it cash in hand..? It is stated as "Renumeration for X-month" consistently for the past 6months but it is from a personal account. The inflow and out flows are basically payment to site workers/contractors. (just gone through the statement a total of 36m for 6months) How does one explain this so it doesnt look shady? Is it a matter of highlighting the bulk sums and explaining or just a general blanket statement. (I just read the rejection letter and i'm worried, where the ECO complained about the inflows and as a result wasnt sure the money was available to the applicant) Please Advice. |

justwise:I Thanks Sorry to bother u more Why I am somehow confused is the fact that I believe those ties are there (Over 1m naira monthly salary with payslips to back it up and letter from employer, landed properties, FD and TB of over 8m naira, shares - all built over time of over a decade of working with good Sal and position, etc except of being single) And was issued 6-month UK Visa (first attempt) with same profile before the US refusal with my mum. I really still didn't understand why the US was refused. However, I really like to get the 2-years UK now, hence I am seeking ur counsel on this. thanks and I will appreciate any other advice from u. Any other additional info needed to include in the application to justify the 2-years? God bless u for the selfless job being done |
