Igbo Monarchs Set To End The Osu Caste System Come December 28 by Giftedhand92(op): 11:33pm On Nov 08, 2018
Major Igbo traditional rulers have set December 28, 2018 to abolish the Osu caste system.

The Osu, in Igbo tradition, are usually discriminated against for no fault of their own, because they are said to be dedicated to deities. For years, people have been calling for an end to this barbaric practice.

While some regions in the South-East have succeeded in abolishing the Osu caste system, it is still alive and well in a lot of Igbo communities. But this is about to change.

According to a statement on Tuesday, there will be an event marking the abolition of the Osu caste system in Igbo land. The event will take place on December 28 at the Nri Palace in Anambra State.

The statement quoted the Regent of the ancient Nri Kingdom, Prince Ikenna Onyesoh, as saying it would be "spiritually suicidal" for anyone to continue with the obnoxious Osu practice after it had been abolished.

He said,
Come December 28, 2018, more stringent spiritual implications will be pronounced from Ikpo Eze-Nri against such devaluation of mankind, after an extensive spiritual abrogation exercise.

The statement also quoted the Eri traditional rulers as saying that they were set for the abolition.
The Chairman of Eri Dynasty Traditional Rulers Forum, Eze Nkeli Nzekwe Kelly, said, according to the statement.

The whole world needs to witness what is about to happen in our land on December 28, 2018 because such a thing has never happened before.
The last time in history anything close to this happened was 200 years ago.

And mark my words, after these abolition and atonement exercises, anybody who continues to uphold these practices will have themselves to blame.

It’s time to end these once and for all and unite our people for the new era. It’s time for our estranged brothers and sisters who were sold into slavery to return home. We are more than ready to atone for the sins of our forefathers and reunite with our kits and kins in America, Europe, the Islands, and beyond. It’s time.

Its a thing of the mind, just as some Pentecostal parents don't support their children to marrying a Catholic, some families will still hold this "Osu" thing in their minds.

Re: Igbo Monarchs Set To End The Osu Caste System Come December 28 by Dpharisee:
Its a new dawn for Igbos, the land will be cleansed of the blood and wrongs done to Igbos in the past and atoned for, already there will be visitors and Igbo descendants from Jamaica, Cuba, USA, Haiti and other countries sold into slavery by forefathers coming to Nri which is the cradle of Igboland for this event.
Many Igbos have suffered because of this stupid practice which led them into marrying wrong partners after they were denied the love of their lives by their families or communities.

Some have suggested that a severe penalty must be imposed by the traditional rulers to deter jealous people, who will still hold on to it, because it is the consolation they have used to disparage those who are more beautiful and successful than them.

Just a little deviation, those who are referred to as Osu have the most beautiful ladies and men because they are descendants of the strongest and most handsome in the family who were sacrificed to serve the gods (the gods are given only the best) or sold into slavery to the white man who wanted only the strongest and most fit to work in his plantations in the New World. But thats not what this event is all about.

For the first time, it seems the Igbo have finally started taking themselves seriously.

There is no way u can be asking to be treated with dignity in Nigeria when you don't treat one of your own with dignity. You can't ask to be treated fairly and looked upon with kindness when u don't treat your own people fairly or look upon them with kindness.

The Osu caste system is among the major causes of setback for the Igbo. Nature and karma has been against you guys for ages for every tears and pain an OSU passes through.

Re: Igbo Monarchs Set To End The Osu Caste System Come December 28 by Nobody:
Osu system removal is Anti-Christ. Already it was abolished by the coming of Europeans.

Osu mean is the name we call any one that depart from the worship of only true God of the Hebrews (Ibo or heeboos). The chukwu okike Abiama(The God of Abraham).
Then once you bow to any diety we would not buy or sell to you.
Osu people are the first to be converted into Christianity and look at the church and our society now
