Good day all, please has anyone travelled down to Australia with different flight tickets and/or airline operators that connect in either China or Singapore? Please what was your stop over experience like? Any hassles from immigration, especially when you have to do a self transfer of checked baggage to the connecting flight.

I understand you don't need a visa if you're not leaving the airport, but what of when you need to pick up your checked in luggage from the flight that got you down there from naija and then check it in to the next or last leg of your flights?

Some tickets actually are indicating self-transfer, any better idea of what is meant by these online booking agents?

Thanks all

You will not see or touch your check in luggage until you get to your destination. You will just hang around the airpoet with your hand luggage. The airline will do your luggage transfer.

it's not a straight ticket. Combining 2 separate tickets but connecting the final flight at China or Singapore. For instance, ticket 1: Lagos to Singapore on Turkish airline bought separately and ticket 2: Singapore to Australia on Qantas.

Even though you have not booked the straight ticket from lagos - Australia from Turkish airline, will they be responsible for transferring the luggage to your next flight "Qantas"? The wait at airport is like 6-7hours

Same. Pick your back at at the luggage conveyor unit. Then head to the waiting area for another check in. All within the airport. If they price difference is not too much, try and work with the same airline. It's safer and less stressful.

I finally passed my PTE test LRSW-82/85/86/83 and I have updated my EOI selecting only SA.

I would like to know if I can make the nomination application payment now ($AU 200) while still gathering documents because my occupation is currently on low availability.

Any SA applicant, please come to my aid

To submit your nomination application to SA, you will need your skills assessment, English test, passport details of adult applicants, and work references if you are claiming points for experience.
You will also need to declare how much money you have for migration based on your family composition, no evidence is required though.

Boss, did you try IOM for concessional tickets? I assume you're trying to use these multiple airline booking to reduce the airfare.
I am hoping to use them too.

Can IOM book in 3-4days, I learnt their procedures/protocols are usually lengthy.

You would need a transit visa. Infact, no airline would agree to pick you from Lagos if you don't have visa to Singapore/China as the case may be as far as you are on self transfer. The airlines obligation is to get you to Singapore as that is your final destination to them.

This means that the airlines do not have an obligation to honor your onward ticket if the first flight is delayed and you miss your connection. However, in the case of Self-transfer flights, your reservation is made via a travel agent who does offer some form of guarantee over any cancellations or missed connections.
