my media players only read files on phone memory NOT memory card.. and I have allowed those media players to read storage in the applications settings.

I have the note 5 and I have a 32gb card, when I merged to internal storage my apps go to SD card but data files remain in the phone memory, any media files I send still goes to phone memory so I decided to turn it back to portable storage my media still goes to phone memory but I have to send them to SD card manually, what could be the cause of this
