My front 4 would be Kalu - Musa - Samuel Chukwueze with Iwobi as 10.
Agu - Ogu should be a good pairing on paper with Ogu handling distribution and Agu as the destroyer. Question mark as to if Agu is trustworthy and Ogu's lack of mobility.
We can bring on Success during the second half to bully their CBs.
However, I won't be surprised if Rohr truly does start a front 3 of Kalu - Musa - Iwobi like has been mooted with Etebo - Agu - Ogu as our midfield 3.
I still say it was a daft move to invited just 3 midfielders.
Let's wait and see what happens sha...

Like Dutch Football, Like Nigerian Football: Akin moments

Just a moment away from the #RSANGA tie, I just wanna give recognition to the comeback of Dutch soccer. They dominated a lethargic and Pogba-less French team and that young midfield New generation Franz Beckanbeaur called Frenkie De Jong was My MOTM. What a complete midfield dominance. The lad is quick, can defend, can attack, can create... He can do everything in midfield and he is just 21. Not that I am surprised as I have been following the lad for well over a year plus but I haven't exactly given him much mention because this is the Super Eagles thread.

I remember a discussion on here on whether Dutch football is gonna come back to its Glory days. Well, today was the answer. I recall stating that it is only a matter of time before the Orange Gang of Holland make a roaring comeback with the talent pool they boast of right now in defence and Midfield especially and also in attack. Patience is key in all things and we can see how The Dutch are rising again so powerfully amd beautifully. This is akin to what Nigerian football is currently experiencing now. Like the dutch over a year ago, we are also in a metamorphosis and hopefully by the time of Afcon 2019 next year, we would see a more imposing and more powerful and beautiful playing Super Eagles.

Dutch football has been on a rise for a while now recently and the win against France a few hours ago have further sealed their comeback. Would be exciting seeing this Dutch team at Euros 2020. Welcome back Die Oranje!!!

And this lad called Frenkie De Jong... Mark my words, he will be a top world class midfielder within the next one to two years. He is that good.... I fell in love with his style early last year. He is the new generation Franz Beckanbeaur. A midfielder but also a lad who brought back the libero role when played in Central defence at certain times for Ajax last season... He is another super star on the rise. Man City or Barca will suit him nicely.... Arsenal too but I don't see Arsenal landing him.

Kudos Frenkie.... Making football even more beautiful to watch. Carry on the good work lad....
the real man behind their resurgence is Ronald Koeman, after the clowns call Gus Hiddink and Daley Blind Snr he's been a breathe of fresh air

I now understand why Pep Guardiola is going for him as Fernandinho's suscesor.

Owngoal Nigeria reports that Nigeria might line up in a 3-5-2 formation with Kalu as a right wing back, Iheanacho as a supporting striker and Ahmed Musa leading the quest for goals

Modified

If this is true, that's my preferred lineup but Kalu as a wing back?. Not sure he can do it

That was my guess, but does Kalu have the tactical discipline to play RWB and who plays LWB?

I think the 3-5-2 should be reserved for European opponents with far superior midfielders

Agu - Ogu lack pace. I do not agree with these type of pairing. One must have pace. Just like Barry-Fernandinho or Kante-Matic or Casemiro-Modric.

So, Etebo-Ogu looks ideal due to Ogu being disciplined at the back and Etebo's pace and workaholic spirit.

I would av preferred Ola Ain or even Moses Simon as RWB. Collins mans the LWB position according to own goal

If the defensive midfielders stay disciplined, it will cover for the inefficiencies of the full backs.

Well, for me, I prefer the 3-5-2 formation. At least we not likely to lose. And I'm sure Baxter isn't expecting this lineup.

Allnigeria soccer also reports that Omeruo will start along with Balogun and Ekong.

Agu isn't that slow. He's a better ball winner than Ogu and Etebo.
But yeah - Etebo's energy is a positive asset to have in midfield

The 3-5-2 formation that rohr has selected is very good but playing kalu as a right wing back is my only worry, he doesn't offer much cover defensively. I would have preferred Moses Simon in his place.
And ezenwa who has not been playing regularly gets a start today?

I'm not gonna believe any of the rumoured lineup from OGN..Those people report are mostly made out of guesswork.. Rohr has never used the 3-5-2 against African opponents and considering the kind of arsenal we have on the flanks, it'd be a bad idea not to unleash them against the southies today....

Meanwhile, the BBC Africa footballer of the year nominees will be unveiled today....Only three Nigerians stand a chance(albeit a slim one) of making the list ..Ndidi(for his performance in the EPL ). Ighalo(He is one of Africa top scorer this year ) Musa (yea, his world cup goals might earn him a nomination)

The more realistic nominees(IMO) Should be

1- Salah
2- Hakim Ziyech
3- Mane
4- Aubameyang

We switch to 4-3-3 in the second half by bringing on our pact wingers to wear them out. Victory is assured. Krattos you have nothing to fear. lol.

Sometimes u just have to pity South African football team. Their U-17 female team was the first to get to Uruguay like a week or two earlier and before then they went to Spain and prepared adequately as far football is concerned but at the end is almost resulting to a failed investment. They have the best league in Africa and with the aid of multichoice(DSTV) fantastic coverage as well but the quality of football is nothing to write home about. If Nigeria football was this poor you can be rest assured that Federal government and state government won't find it again.
and yet Sundowns won the caf champions league not long ago

Etebo isn't injured! ...

A Midfield of Ogu- Etebo and Iwobi is now sure...
If Rohr is going with a 3-5-2,it would be foolish for him to use Kalu as a RWB ahead of Aina.

A 3-5-2 isn't even needed...IMO, this would b d best lineup for us ..
