grin... From history, election year is usually bearish followed by two consecutive year of bullish run.

But I am optimistic that FUGAS FFS will close the year either on a flat/ bullish note.

How the Nigeria stock market will react next year?

I can't bet on that.
Am also optimistic that FUGAS FFS JW will close the year bullish. All men to their portfolios grin grin

@Oracle
Index will test at least 27ish
Oil may still slip below 60
TB yield just started an upward run
We may have another one year in the woods
So prepare to average down wella grin
It can, no doubt about that. All it takes is just for DC, Seplat, Guinness, NB to shed above 5% for 5 days. grin

There are lots of uncertainties surrounding oil price. Shale ramping of production, oversupply by OPEC, manufacturing slowdown in China, Exemption of 8 countries to still trade with Iran etc. So you have lots of things which needs to be sorted out or not sorted out to make oil price rise or not rise.

If US inventory comes out now and it is less, oil starts to rise. If OPEC schedules a meeting now, Oil starts to rise. If report shows that US and China are agreeing to a trade deal, oil starts to rise. So it is not something you can bank your hope on.

With the way the US market is now (bearish), with a stronger Dollar index, EMs will not see lots of inflow. But the dollar index is due for a bear run. So if this happens, there will be sharp exit out of their markets into risky markets (EMs and FMs).

There are lots of indices to keep an eye on to guage when there could be reversal. Dollar index is one. US inflation rate is another.

For US inflation rate, it peaked at 2.9% in July 2018, fell to 2.7% in August 2018 and in September it is 2.3%. US has a target to keep this above 2%. Now it is falling back. If October comes out and it is below 2%, then they will need to hold off increasing rates come December 2018 which will give market a breather. And if you look at it, October was red for Oil, this means that buying gas for cars in the US will be cheaper, hence lower fuel inflation. This should impact the overall inflation figure for October. I expect the October figure to be at 2.3% or below.

So the next question now is: if inflation is falling, does the Fed need to hike rate again? They hiked in September seeing the July - August figures. But looking at September, they are going below their target of 2%.

They wouldn't want to go into deflation(negative inflation) anymore because it is usually painful to exit.

Dear Oracle,
Your insight is as usual very deep!
I know you are doing very fine. God bless you.
I appeal you should not resume your GHOST MODE.
Your deep knowledge of markets should continue to benefit even those who are yet to stumble on this forum, if you continue posting.
I have chewed many rotten groundnuts in my life, but I have as a result stopped just throwing them in my mouth without inspection again.
Trading is one of the fewest disciplines where on sighting a pure market scenario, your whole knowledge base disappears until you finish messing up.
You can not estimate how many people you helped avoid losing their cash here and those your absence has caused some problems too.
Trading is the only discipline, apart from DIPSY'S ancient profession, that promotes empty emotions above realistic reasoning.
Kindly forgive us our offenses and deactivate your ghost mode. We will appreciate reading more from you.
We deeply value you and your insights.

Agba has a point. Try and listen.

Especially on the wheat prices and sugar price movement. Study the trend. The lower these prices, for a company that imports these, the lower the cost of sales. This gives you high gross profit margin which would translate to a good bottom line.

I'm not always comfortable with static prices cos, most often than not, it always retraces if no good news comes to its rescue to propel it.
it's called a range market , where price is really nt moving very in any direction. Its d worst type of mkt to trade esp a bear mkt. Any small bad news or ''rumour'' leads to a major move downwards.

I have been on the sidelines reading and just laughing.

Stop fooling people. You can't have a better bonanza once you make your calculations and your Dividend yield gives you above 10%.

You can only get bonanza with stocks with poor results.

Watch the trend amigo!!! There is increased purchases (sales as well), huge cross deals and activity is spiking.

This is synonymous with start of a bull run.

It started around September 2018. If you are a strong FA guy, you should have made your calculations and seen that prices are depressed enough. Falling further means that you should buy more because your FA target tells you buy at or below this price!!!

Remember in January ending, I drew people's attention to a rise in NSE that will soon fall. They laughed at me.

Around May, I saw a sign of a bullish return, it got to be a trap. I adviced people on that. Now, there is increased positioning. Just watch the trend of money flow amigo!!!

@yayira, take heart. At least my advice will be ringing in your head now on that stock that is currently being woundjured by Dozie. But I know it is a small money, na something wey you go fit spend at one sitting at a restaurant on Champs Elysees. So no biggie!! grin

To my followers, it is out. The 'blokos' is gradually growing. (Hope you get my point). Stick on FUGAZ FFS. That's my only sector!!! So use your head.

Really appreciate you guys.

I don't like insult, as well I don't like insulting people, please next time choose a better word, you can communicate your message without using offensive words.

I never fool any person here, or intended to fool any. When I use the word like bear and bonanza, I don't just mention them without stating the factors that will cause it.

There are many factors I sighted, with election been the dominating factor among the various factors. Have you ask why the increase in Tbill? When the demand become low, government will increase the price to attract more demand, and when the demands become high the price will reduce.

Election has a great role to play; it makes foreign investors to bailed out from the market, due to fear of unknown, once after election with all things been equal you will see them returning one by one.

Banks at this stage will restrict the rate of loan giving to their customers, due to the election outcome, customer can borrow money to pursue and sponsor their political post and ambition, once they fail in election, to recover such amount of money from them seems to be difficult. Again the expectation of possible change of government at this period is very high. Everyone are at alert, even contractors and business men reduces the level of their financial exposure to government, they prefer pay before service now, and pay at point of delivery.

Remember, I still maintain that many factors will be responsible for the bonanza period with election been the chief factor.

Many things has change from the time I started announcement of bonanza period till this period, ASI was close to 40,000, today ASI is 32,000 and still heading Southward.

Buying times two of the unit with the same amount as some few months ago will give one, times two of dividend from the same company come March 2019. cool
