@POLITICSNGR

Ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan has insinuated that a vast conspiracy by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC was partly responsible for his loss in 2015, PoliticsNGR has learned.

Jonathan, who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP  lost to President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC on March 31st 2015, marking the first time an opposition party wins an election in Nigeria.

In his book, 'My Transition Hours' launched in Abuja on Tuesday, Jonathan wrote;

"For some inexplicable reason, the INEC had been able to achieve near 100% distribution of Permanent Voter Cards in the North, including the North East, which was under siege with Boko Haram insurgency but failed to record a similar level of distribution in the South which was relatively more peaceful,”.

Social media was filled with all manner of stories, pictures and videos. I had settled in my mind that I was not going to be the sitting president pointing out these infractions and accusing the opposition and the very INEC I helped to strengthen.

The world saw my ordeal at the polling unit in my community in Bayelsa State, where the card reader refused my PVC even after we tried repeatedly during accreditation.

And it was the same with my wife and my mother. It was a moment that exposed the shortcomings of INEC".

Mr Jonathan said even though he conceded defeat because of personal principles he had long held, he was even more conscious of past predictions of the United States intelligence that Nigeria would break apart.

“I knew what was coming the day before I called General Muhammadu Buhari. I had reports on the polls around the country. It was clear the results were not going to favour me. There were series of problems with card readers, resulting from widespread technical hitches leading to the non-uniform application throughout the country.

However, I was heading towards peace. Stopping the election on voting day would have been like detonating an atomic bomb,” he said.

Mr Jonathan said shortly after he finished voting on March 28, he departed Bayelsa for Abuja to monitor the rest of the exercise from March 29 until he made concession call on March 31.

“The country was tensed. I had to do something. I could no longer wait for the collation of final results. The pressure on the country was palpable. In Lagos, people were ready to burst loose on the streets and in the North, the stage was set for envisaged violence. One of my party’s agents at the INEC National Collation Centre in Abuja, Elder Godsday Orubebe eventually got into a heated argument with the INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega.

That further raised the tension in the country. Everyone was expecting the worse. I knew it was time to douse the tension,”.

How do you explain 100% PVC collection rate in Borno (a theatre of war) and less than 50% in most states of the south?

In addition, Jega / INEC registered under age voters.

Lots of people conspired against GEJ even within his own party. My issue with GEJ was his easy going attitude to issues important to Nigerians, like joblessness. He did nice commendable things but tried too little in my opinion, below my expectations, though much better than Buhari as we’ve come to see

Buhari is far worse, taking a bad situation to the next level of badness, in fact the worst we have seen it ever! Then trying to force their way to destroying Nigeria even more. Shame!

Jonathan is nothing but a sore loser. He has blamed everyone else except himself for his 2015 defeat. Obama, David Cameroun, PDP governors, Bornu governor, Chibok girls, and now INEC. When will he face the reality that Nigerians voted him out because of his incompetence and high level of corruption that characterize his government? When will he blame his wife for practically pushing Amaechi and some other leaders out of PDP? When will he blame himself for marginalizing the south west that stood by him in 2010 and 2011 from his government? He should accept his failures and stop deceiving himself.

Can you please help me ask Buhari and APC when they’ll stop blaming GEJ and PDP and everyone else but themselves for the poverty, joblessness, insecurity, economic recession, corruption and mess within their government?

Southern leaders/politicians failed do the needful by challenging INEC on such anomalies and sensitize their people on the need to collect their PVCs/vote but easily gets carried away by the perks of office and crumbs from the national treasury thereby losing focus on the big picture hence part of the reason the country is being held by the jugular.

The south must be united with a common goal to rescue the country from parasitical elements as that is the only way to engender real development and freedom.

Southerners must push for restructuring or dissolution of the behemoth as a last resort.

nobody disenfranchised south but themselves. if you said they were disenfranchised in 2015, I guess you have to start preparing for the same song in 2019 because going by the figures at the moment, there is evidence that the southerners are still reluctant to go out for their card like it matters to them. A northern accept to be governed by set of people but he is dead determine not to be governed by someone he didn't approve off, having this at the back of his mind, he pays all it takes to get his access(PVC) to speak. on the other hand, a southern man want to sit at his comfort zone and decide who govern him without any follow up on his decision to ensure itvis actualize.

Are you saying all he listed isn't the truth?

No, GEJ wasn't voted out because of corruption. He was mainly voted out because of Boko Haram and Chibok girls saga. The handiwork of Northern elders just to make sure power come back to the North.

How easier was it to find those girls months after handing over?

Is Boko Haram not still causing havoc like before? In fact, upgraded to attacking soldiers at their base and killing them? Fulani terrorists? Other militants?

You want to talk about corruption in this government? There's a lot of corrupt practices going on, but we only heard of little. Since you are a buhari slave, you won't see that. But you can accuse GEJ administration of being corrupt.

Tell me what this administration is doing differently from last administration?

will INEC force People to collect PVC, did INEC distribute PVC to the Northerners in their respective houses? I don't think that issuance of PVC had anything to do with his failed ambition. GEJ should have looked inwards also nd seen his own weakness. According to him the whole world was against him. Y would the North not vote against him, when Boko Haram annexed states like Borno, Gombe, Adamawa, Yobe,? these excuses will only be entertained by those who choose to.

gej was a very very weak and docile political leader. i hate it when people who have the power to change things fail to use that power and then turn around to blame others who were smart enough to play them.
gej was warned severally by fayose and many pdp members openly that jega had been compromised and that he should remove jega , instead he meekly failed to do so.
even the blind man on the street could see then that inec and jega had been heavily compromised. so gej should just shut up and let nigerians face their problems alone .
the problem with gej then was that HE GAVE TOO MUCH RESPECT TO THE OPPOSITION AND EACH TIME THE OPPOSITION RAISED AN ALARM , GEJ WILL QUICKLY RUN AWAY LIKE A FEARFUL DOG .

Secondly ,it is funny that gej seems to be deliberately overlooking the fact that the comments of ppl from his region about his reelections also in a way contributed to the way and manner majority of northerners voted against him and pdp, he allowed the likes of dokubo and co to be making serious inflammatory statements then and behaving as if the whole country belongs to them

lastly was the muazu factor which he also failed to address

He is so daft he couldn't caution his baboon of a wife who insulted the largest voting bloc in Nigeria. While he was insulting Yorubas, his wife was insulting northerners.

He has blamed Obama, blamed INEC, blamed APC, blamed Buhari, blamed Jega.

Goodluck is so stupid that he's blaming others expecting them to do his job for him.
