I was in PH just last month. Along Woji Road GRA, I saw this high-rise under construction. I took particular interest because a friend is a sub contractor there. Fast forward 3weeks later, the building has now collapsed.

Sincerely speaking the building doesn't look like it is not being built by incompetent contractors.

I was driving by when it collapsed. At GRA though I didn't stop. I hope an investigation is carried out so no future occurrence elsewhere.

The building procedures look perfect... Probably the materials were substandard...

So sad the lives that were lost in this tragedy...

Supply chain

No matter your good intentions if you get supplied substandard cement or rods then it's likely gonna fall. Water log, tremors from nearby drilling etc

You are only as strong as your weakest link

I worked with my cousin on his construction sites when I was still in school, he is a civil engineer and I can tell u that most of these collapsed buildings are caused mainly because of greed and not necessarily lack of competence..

these contractors know the right thing to do, but most times they prefer to cut corners so as to maximize profit at the detriment of human lives...

quite unfortunate
