When you think you have seen the most stupid of all posts... What has those bible portions got to do with change of name? You will never see real and successful men bickering about these, only empty, jobless and direction less men will come here to misquote the scripture for something as inconsequential as name change. Well, anything to massage their over bloated self entitlement of being a man. Sarah Abraham, Rebecah Jacob, Elizabeth Zacharia....still looking for these names in the bible...bunch of empty heads |

Oh, you want to use your own money to do whatever you like, even after depriving his kids and household the full time and care they deserve, which is your responsibility which you abandoned to go fetch for money because feminism told you so? |

Any man that allows his wife to add her father's name to his is not worth the name/title man. No woman can try it with my children even if your father is Dangote or Bill Gates. |

The tradition of a wife taking her husband’s last name at marriage is not found in the Bible. In Bible times, most people did not even have last names. Women were often identified by where they lived (e.g., Mary Magdalene, Luke 8:2), by their children (e.g., Mary the mother of James and Joseph, Matthew 27:56) In Western culture, it has been a common tradition for a wife to change her last name to that of her husband. The vast majority of married women in the West still follow that tradition. There is nothing explicitly biblical about doing this, since the Bible issues no command to do so. Thus, there is nothing explicitly unbiblical about a wife keeping her maiden name or opting for a hyphenated hybrid. alBHAGDADI: |

CookieLaVee:you should ask yourself why the Bible didn't bother to go deep about their history and genealogical records. that we only know them because of their husbands should tell you all you need to know . that nothing about their personal life is written down, only what they did with their husband or they were asked to do by their husband should also tell all you need to know. the Bible does not in anyway support feminist ideas |

sinaj:I smile when I see people like you argue unnecessarily I like myself a lot You see, before I take any girl to the altar, we will define everything Yes, if a girl is not ready to answer my surname, well, there’s no basis for marriage Marriage transcends love...love is just a component of it...understanding and respect matter Of course, it's even a good thing that there are more women than guys in the world. So, as far as I am concerned, there's no basis for argument If a girl feels she wants to keep her father's name, no problem. But she should go marry her father. Better still, find a guy who will accept the nonsense What the Bible says has nothing to do with it It's my life; it's my call QED |

FrostyButter:if we must discuss things that don't make any sense then it should be why a woman should bear her husband's name;it doesn't make any sense. She is not a property a man acquires. |

alBHAGDADI:How is THAT your problem if her husband doesn't have a problem with it? If you have a problem with that then marry someone that shares the same views as you! If you come to MY house and tell MY wife bullshit like that don't be surprised if you end up with a black-eye. |

Ugosample:Your wish but it won't. Even in the next 1000 years. In this part of the world, paying of bride price is very significant and without it, marriage has not been contracted. It has nothing to do with amount but the significance. |

This post is just another example of how people can misuse the Bible and mislead people who aren't careful. The Bible doesn't ban women from bearing their father's name after marriage, no where in the bible does the Bible command that the woman must drop her father's name after marriage |

robedu:Go and check out the genealogy of many of those in the Bible, they are traced to men and for a reason. You say the Bible doesn't use Surname, so you support what the OP is against. If the Bi me doesn't use Surname, why are using it? Oh, because of tradition? Why not do it the way you met it being done, why invent something new against ancient landmarks approved? OK, the Bible doesn't speak about hyphenating surname, but you do know it speaks about wives submitting to their husbands, right? Okay, the Bible doesnt speak specifically about pornography, but you know it speaks about sexual immorality, right? Read the Bible for understanding and stop expecting it to specifically spell everything out for you. |
