For those of you that can afford it and not minding the extra expenses and for 100% positive visa outcome, go and become a registered member of EducationUSA in Lagos or Abuja. Registration fee is $200. Every member of this agency are US embassy priority. They are the first class student visa applicant at the embassy. At least, as much as I am informed, I am yet to see an EAC member denied. Your Senators', governors' and commissioners' kids go through this route.
But to be eligible for membership, you must not have applied to any school at the point of registration; once the agency knows you have gotten admission yourself, they will not register you. There is also age limit: for undergraduate student, I think it is 20 (it was 21 as of 2009); for masters, it has to be under 28 or so. Visit the Lagos or Abuja branch to confirm.

You must be 100% genuine student. They will do background check on ya. You will do WES, write English test, even when they school don't need it.

In addition, I share in the grieve and pain of those who are recently denied. A very good friend I met on this forum was delayed this morning, and it is painful because we did everything a student could possibly do for a successful visa outcome. Yet she was denied, for Heaven's sake reason. Things are changing very fast now. Only the rich and those with extra-ordinary luck will get through. While the rate of denial goes up, we are watching and observing. With the recent article on Nigerian newspapers, we will definitely get the crowd down, and then chances of issuance will increase again. I know the embassy policy will change again, and more visa will be issued, perhaps towards late 2019--as crowd would have reduced significantly.

Don't give up on your dreams.
God bless you all.

Please who knows how an expedited visa interview works? I applied for one, it was approved but I want to pick a date now and I can only find Dec 31st as the earliest date.

It is also part of our government strategies to curb the evident "brain drain" and heavy migration. You have seen what Africans did to Europe recently. Nigeria is a broken State; ain't you surprised that your government isn't ready to caution foreign embassies here on taking visa fees when visa will not be granted? More so, many young Nigerians are disaffected, which is why young people are the highest percentage at the US embassy. Whether genuine or not, I will not blame them. They are helpless fighters. They know they have potentials, but their own country is hostile to that. They gotta do what they need to do.

Also, based on research and available data, close to 90% of Africans who are granted US student visa don't return to their native countries--either after graduation or as they got in. The pressure from Trump is also there.

That must have been the date you're granted. You pick that as fast as you can, or you loose it when it expires.

Fairheart I quite agree with you bro. Nigeria kills dreams easily due to very bad leadership. That's why rate of cyber crime is on the highest rise of all time. The western nations knows this and they using it to their utmost advantage in form of exploitation through bogus visa fees with no positive outcome. I weep for the generation yet unborn cos light seems not to be at the end of the tunnel for this nation. It's well.

As stated over and over again.. The USA visa interview is extremely subjective and you don't know what's going on in the head of the VO at any point in time. My advice, work well, pray well(if you believe in this) and most importantly ask for favor during the interview. Some VOs are naturally angry grin
I have been delayed twice but that doesn't deter me a bit cos I know I will get it one day(very soon). Don't give up on your dream cos it's worth it. Peace

Will you mention your employer's name or the company's name as the sponsor on your dsform? if the statement has employer's personal name, you can. If it's a company name, well, it is in God's name and the kind of consular interviewing you. If employer transfer fund

The company's name will be on the Ds form. or what do you advise. Should they transfer to me and i present my statement? I am just asking just to know the best way. My application is fall 2019 and am preparing ahead. I will be going with my wife and the funds should be able to cover for both of us.

I will share a simple idea with you. If your company is your sponsor and you're going for fall 2019, Tell your company to divide the the entire fund to 8. Each percentage of this is to be transferred to your account every month, on a regular basis, for example, 25th of every month. Let the money keep coming in. It should not be dump. That is my advise. Should you need more info, just write here:...

Hello Fam, I was denied an F1 visa twice between November and December, 2018. I had to defer my admission until SPRING 2019 to give me time to concentrate at work and to prepare better for a next time. Presently, i am awaiting the arrival of my i-20 which is on transit now from my school in the US so now preparing for my third and hopefully last F1 visa interview.

Now my question is this,

1. i paid my SEVIS fee last year (November, 2nd 2017) and I want to know if it will still be valid enough for me to use it for my new interview. I heard the fee expires after a year and in that case, it means mine should have expired. However, as we speak, I logged into the fmjfee.com website to review my SEVIS fee status and this is what saw:

Current Payment Status: Paid
I-901 TRANSACTION DETAILS

VIEW PAYMENT CONFIRMATION Date Received: 11/02/2017
SEVIS ID: N00274*****
Payment Type: Western Union
Payment Status: Paid
REQUEST TRANSFER Transaction: WWW1730******

Now does this mean my SEVIS fee is still active and can be used for a new interview say in december or january pending when there is an available date?

2. Secondly, I noticed that the SEVIS Number in my last year's i-20 (from same school i applied to last year), is same as the SEVIS number in the new i-20 the same school just issued me last week (presently on transit). Is this going to be a problem cos alternatively I tried transferring the payment but got an error notification notifying me that the SEVIS numbers were same and therefore, i couldn't transfer. At this point, i am confused on what to do next.

I anticipate a response from gurus in the house to guide my next step. Thank you.

Your story may be different... Not withstanding the current realities.

I have been reading this thread for the past three years with no plans of traveling out; guess I'm just addicted to sharing in the joy of others. #CharacterFlaw

Have read good stories here that get me fantasizing and bad ones that get me utterly depressed.

I believe the spree of denials lately is due to a lot of factors others have mentioned already:

New Trump Policies
Fudged docs
Insincerity
And students not wanting to return after gradj

If you are sincere enough, prepare well, have your genuine docs then you only have two things to contend with

1. Policy.
2. The V.Os mood/personality/beliefs/political ideology & inclinations (regardless of their professional and so-called diversity training).

And these aren't your fault.

Try again, if it doesn't work, opt for the EducationUSA route (if age will allow). If all don't work, settle for other countries cos at this point, there is nothing you can do seeing even if you are highly qualified by all standards, you stand a 50/50 chance as a V.Os mood can work against you or you might panic and say something wrong (Not illegal but wrong by the V.Os sole judgment). They are judge and jury at this point. They may not even like your face. Now it's just a question of luck that you find the V.O in a mood you'd want or that he's not a silent immigration hardliner like trump.

Interviews are mostly evaluated by a panel - for a job, an award etc but here, you are left at the mercy of the judgement of one person concerning something as crucial as this and whose ideology or state of mind you cannot gauge cos if you do, youd simply give him the answers he wants to hear.

These white people set these standards for measuring human responses and reactions from their researches. They invented psychology and behavioral studies and know fully well that interviews are characterized by really nervy moments and different people handle nerves differently so there shouldn't be a blanket criteria for evaluating people's performances but they do it anyway because it lines the coffers of their governments and they care less.

They know nerves can make you say stuff that aren't accurate ... Not by choice but because what's at stake is too enormous. We do it, they do it but ours is "badder".

I'm just so fascinated with international travel esp. to the USA but this new trend is dampening my spirit.

Plus you have to pay a lot more again!

The rules still apply. Every student still have a chance, even after 2-7 denials. I keep saying it: I know more than 4 students who got their visas after 4 denials respectively (the 5th time). Why so many denials if they were to be granted eventually? I have no idea. I also know several students who got it first appearance. I once tried to look at the determining factors between these two groups, and I can't find much. The first-time student appear calm, confident, and did not have occupied fear of denials, no travel experience either. One of them is a close friend. Victor is a simple guy; he doesn't worry or carry things for head. He is a good example of calmness. On his interview day, he behaved as though he is unaware that US embassy denials a lot. He took himself there and got it. (of course, there are other factors).

I have learned that we can't achieve much in this life if we are not confident and calm in our pursuit. So, I want to encourage prospective students. Learn these qualities as you prepare for your interview and in other areas of your endeavours: confidence, ability to be calm under pressure (this doesn't come easily except it's in your gene to take things lightly. For me, it is difficult experiences that taught me calmness, and I am still learning).
Please don't picture yourself in another student's scenario. Someone has been denied, but it is not you. Have faith and keep calm.
You need to find it within yourself to believe that your case is different. And even when you're denied, keep believing.

You want to leave Nigeria and never have anything to do with this country again? You don't like it here, and you want to go as fast as you can? Well, change that perspective. No carry America education for head. It will happen, but let it not be do or die, or else, you will put yourself under unnecessary pressure and it will not help.

I am just looking for avenue to encourage you guys.
