Your situation is similar to mine.
I used doctoresparati in 2016. I paid the Obgyn and hospital bill as quoted on doctoresparati website. After delivery, I got an itemized bill from the hospital which showed a huge discount.
I expected the itemized bill to reflect the prices quoted on their website (doctoresparati).
I am yet to do Dropbox, and I am very very skeptical.
Jibbie2015:
Hello house and Good day to everyone here. I had my interview today and wasn't given a visa. Application was for vacation and not birth. The officer said that I need to find out what happened to the payment adjustment on my itemised bill. I was so sceptical on taking the bill but eventually decided to and that was what the officer capitalised on.
No other question was asked and she only requested for my passports and medical receipts.

On my itemised bill. There is a huge discount which they called payment/adjustment compared to the exact medical expense that was incurred. Actual medical expense which I have receipts for was about 8k5 ( VD) while the total amount on the itemised bill is 29k. How do I reconcile this difference?

I gave birth in Atlanta medical center in 2015 and there was a cash payment agreement which was signed by me and the hospital for the cost I paid. The agreement also clearly stated that I will not be using any Medicaid for this purpose.. but then the visa officer said that wasn't suffiecient enough. I had zero balance receipts and letters from both the hospital , pediatrician and doctors stating that I have no outstanding payment.
I also noticed that there were some services which I paid for separately and was way overstated on the itemised bill ...like anesthesiologist fee and also items like pharmacy alone had over 8k USD. Is it possible to get itemised bill that will tie directly to what was paid?

How do I proceed from here my people.

No, your baby needs an international passport or an emergency travel certificate.
Jinglesbaby88:
Please, can a baby travel with just birth certificate and a letter from the parents giving grandma permission to fly to Nigeria with the baby? No ETC or UK passport for the baby because both parents are not British.

I called the hospital. And I was told that it’s the flat rate give to patients paying cash(selfpay). I insisted I want to pay up any discount and the said I have no discount. That I have a zero account balance and that they will send me a financial statement stating that the hospital bill is 17000, and it was adjusted to 3000$ dollars cos I’m selfpay. I have begged and asked them to please send me any balance or discount they insisted I have no balance. What do I do please? How do I explain to the vo. I have an interview next week. I also didn’t mention it during my Dropbox. What do I do? Help

If you contact the hospital, they will also give you a letter that states that neither Medicaid nor any type of govt fund was used to offset your medical bill so you can have additional evidence when renewing your visa.

Good day everyone in the house.

I tried renewing my visa via dropbox but was invited for a follow up interview.

I have been trying to schedule for this appointment but the payment confirmation page does not recognise my receipt number it gives an invalid error message.

I have sent several mails and filled the feedback form on the appointment page but yet to get any help.

Will it be right to pay for another visa fee.

I will appreciate any support.

Please I need help this has been lingering for over a month.

If this was the form they gave you from the hospital then present it to the VO.

If this is the best excuse you can present to the VO along with the account balance that you do not owe the hospital and to which they will send to you then present it to the VO and wish for the best.

There is no need for the panic. Just hope you meet a sympathetic VO who will interview you and accept all the evidence given to you by the hospital.

I don't see why the American Embassy would blame the applicant for a discount offered an American hospital. The American hospital is fully under the jurisdiction of the of the American government. They should fix whatever scam they feel the hospitals are perpetrating.

Hubby and I were also denied visa in May this year.

I had no change of intention frm the visiting visa to the medical visa. But we were not denied on that ground. Ours was that we didn't take our bills and receipts along, and because we were still on a payment plan.

We applied again in July, and got a date in Nov. Applied for an expedited interview date but was declined that child birth is not a real emergency.

Exactly, one week ago, we were before another VO, we had our bills and reciepts and zero balances this time. And we were honest about the failure to procure a change of Intention for the previous birth, and apologised. She stated categorically that there's nothing wrong in having a baby with a visiting visa. We were shocked!

She asked their usual questions.
She handed us the white sheet and added that they'll need time to go through the payment documents we handed her for the previous birth, and that we'll receive an e-mail or sms expressing their decision on our application. I was so nervous at this point that I'm not sure I included all my itemised bills.
DH said he heard her say that the visa decision will be made in a day or two. But the white sheet says within 60days. It's a week now no info.

Am really worried for the following reasons;
1. My EDD is middle of nxt month, and am really big and exhausted by now. (P.S. I'll be going with a 2yr old toddler).
2. Have cancelled my appointment with my doctor severally.
3. Am considering writing the Embassy, to inform them about the urgency of my case, and to add that the visa will be useless to me if it's approved after this period. Cause I refused buying ANYTHING for my LO's birth cause I planned to shop there. Didn't want to carry much load.
OR
Should I give up on the visa and start plan B of having the LO here, and start shopping for him.

4. My mom had already traveled in October to wait for me, cause she said she can't travel in d cold.

Am very sorry for the long post. Pls help! Am not together at all.

Hello house,
This is an update.
Visas have been approved finally. Am back to say thank you house for all that you do.
I should leave almost immediately.

Pls who has flown Delta through Atlanta, HEAVILY pregnant, and with a toddler, can you book for wheel chair service and still carry a stroller in it?
And if so, how do u book for wheelchair?
Finally, and not quite related to this topic, my almost 2yr old is potty training and hates to use her diapers for No.1 n 2 (only when she's asleep), don't think I can do the toilet rounds with her considering my state. She loves drinking and as such pees frequently.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thank you.

I'll be back to share my CBP experience to help others too.

Please I need your advise. It is a long post pls bear with me.
I had my baby (third child) in the USA (medical visa) on March 23 this year Before I embarked on the journey I had contacted a doctor who gave me lists and prices of hospital and I made my choice which is OBMC which turns out to be the cheaper on the list for virginal delivery. And I was offered “self pay patient packages” Total was about 2900 for hospital and 1800 for doc after discount for self pay and also discount for paying cash on my first visit to hospital and doc. And other little little charges for blood text, scan, and for baby check. I opted out of epidural which was 1500, opted out for hearing test and also as my baby was a well baby we were discharged the next day afternoon. And yes I was happy that I was able to save us some cash
I returned in April.
Now to my main problem.
I applied for my two older kids (girl 7 and boy 4) on October 27th 2018.
VO: Hello, passport pls
Me: am not the one applying. Am her for my two kids
Vo: OK there passports and urs.
Me: OK (and I gave him passports. He types on the system)
VO: while typing,he asked.. Where are u going in America? What for? And how long?
Me: Houston, for Christmas holiday and for three weeks
VO: I see ur baby is a US citizen.
Me: yes she is..i have her passport and bc here, do I… ..
VO: No I don’t need it
Vo: how much did u pay in Texas for child birth.
Me: plus minus 7000dollers
VO: no way, u cannot be serious. In Texas the least child birth is 15000dollars, even me as a citizen I pay about that. How come u paid this verrrrrrry low amount.
Me: (at this point my heart skipped ) I told him I got d quote from d doc and I went to d hospital and that is what I was asked to pay… we argued and argued over the amount.. And I finally handed him invoices and zero balnaces
Vo: visa approved, pick up in three days.
Me: smiled and said thank u.. Started gathering my things and smiled again… walking out.
VO: madam madam plz come back come back. (I went back to his stand) let me have ur passport again. (I gave him my passport)
VO: madam this is a seriously issue I don’t see how u paid such low amount.. And u need to be serious about it..u smiled.. (me, ha! Yes I smiled Na but doesn’t mean I didn’t take u seriously) we argued abit more…and he returned passport back to me. I left.
Then hubby decided he will join the holiday as d kids are going with me. .he got an agent and the agent got a date for him yesterday 27th November.
VO: passport, where are u going to in America, how long etc
Hubby: answered…
Next thing
Vo: oh ur wife recently had a baby in us, how much did child birth cost you?
Hubby answered..
VO: lie, not true.. Standard child birth in Texas 20850 dollars. How come u paid very low…
Hubby said..They argued argued argued…and the lady did not even want to listen to his explanations, she refused to look at the evidence (zero balance) docs communication and quotes and invoices, she refused to look at anything…and denied him visa.
Please I will appreciate if anyone can help us with advise on how to go about this or if anyone has experienced such and how was it resolved.
A staff told him to reapply again, and this he sold not argue… and get the doc to send a breakdown to embassy and copy us.
We need help
Thank you

When I went for my interview.. I showed the VO clearly what was in the cash payment agreement which is very similar to this document you have attached here. But the response I got was that this wasn't sufficient enough. It just did not make sense. Now.. what I deduced from my interaction with the VO was that they want to see proof of what exactly was done to this payment adjustment on the itemised bill. I also asked if I could get a written representation from the hospital on this but she also said that wasn't going to be suffient and I should figure out what evidence would be appropriate. By the way, she mentioned briefly that a 10 to 15% discount was reasonable to her. I have called my hospital to send me a transaction history letter showing a zero balance in the list and clearly state that the discount was written off and not charged to govt. This is the best they said they could do ...in addition to the other proofs I have. I might just apply again and see where this goes from there. Going forward, I think Mamas in yanki should try and get a written explanation of any adjustment in their bills especially when it is huge or more 50%. All the best ...just be honest.. Who knows ..you might meet a different VO from the one I met.

We had same issue yesterday my husband was turned down cos of discount on itemized bill, I had my baby the first oakbend and second west houston, the Vo said they dont have problem with oakbend not withstanding the itemised bill shows same discount like the one we got from west Houston but the west Houston discount was on red flag.
Meanwhile I was so upset yesterday that I put a call to the hospital for suggestion and reason of denial linked with using west Houston, we as well send them a long e mail, it wasnt funny at all all.
They lady said they got a lot of calls these days on that they are working on it, meanwhile they have a new letter which addresses this purpose and if they be any reason of doubt the embassy should give them a call.

I am yet to get this letter for them as she promised sending it today.
I advice u give them a call too so they can put your request in line with others as we await their response.

However, you cannot blame the VOs and the reason is because most of them are charged very high hospital fees for the same child birth services through their health insurances when they are in the US.

given how your interview went and how you were even called back...if I were you...i wouldn't:
1. go near an agent for any family member's application...even for booking an appointment....check DeeandGLady's experience here https://www.nairaland.com/4250945/give-birth-usa-cost-procedures/195#71810915

2. ask my husband to reapply lest they change their minds about you and the other children's visas.

On this discount ish, most of these VO's don't seem to understand how these things works.First off, those of them saying they paid 30k or thereabouts failed to mention that their insurance companies took care of that and most times, these insurance companies negotiate these fees to the barest minimum and most times times,it takes time for them to pay.Its common sense that these hospitals would prefer self pay patients as they get their money immediately. These same discounts they give to self pay patient is what insurance companies end up paying after quoting outrageous bills.

My advice will be when requesting cost of delivery from hospital, insist that it should be included that whatever fee they are charging is for self pay and that you reject any form of medical assistance. Also make sure you sign it,with that your argument when going for visa renewal will hold water.

This is EXACTLY correct. Bravo to you Sir/Maam, you seem to understand what the VO's are pretending not to understand.
