You are qualified to apply as common law partners and guess what?! There's provision for common law partners in every IRCC application. I even see you already have multiple documents that can proof you guys have been staying together. Please, forge ahead.

Hi dear, it was silence till then, however I called them to twice.

The first was to confirm it has been gotten and pouched to the UK...I was so emotional about it that the lady promised to call me back for the confirmation.. Since she could not pull out the information and she did.

2nd time, was to find out if they were done..

Had to follow up because of a previous experience.

[Qquote author=Natalie27 post=73379962]Congrats

, did you get any acknowledgement mail form them after submitting on the 29th or it was silence till 24th

Lagos(Mr Elijah) - 08060698959

Ekiti - You don't really need a contact. It's a walk in and you get it within hours ones they have booklet. You can reach out to me before travelling so I help you confirm they have booklet.

Thanks for your honest view, I'll look at going to a registry next month. Please, can we do it at ANY registry? Or must it be Ikoyi?

Also, does that mean my partner would have to do a change of name something before we can proceed?

it can be done at any registry.i used my local govt marriage registry certificate and I know some people who had also used non Ikoyi marriage certificate.

No change of name needed.

Mind you, common-law is acceptable but since it is not common practice in your country, it invites extra scrutiny to your application.

Hello beautiful people of Nairaland,
I just have a question regarding sending WAEC result to WES. On WES' website is a form that I needed to fill the top part and WAEC would fill out the second part of the form. However, WAEC has refused to fill and sign the 2nd half of the form ( they say it's not their form)
Anybody been through this?
Are there any implications?

Consider all pros and cons and do what's on your mind, not just acting based on fear of Accra.
I know someone who got sent to Accra because they got married.

Can the fact that you suddenly got married after ITA even though you've been partners for years attract extra scrutiny?

You're actually common law partners according to IRCC, and marriage in your case will be the 'packaging'. Which would you prefer to defend during the type of interview our sister shared with us? Reality is always easier to defend than packaging.

Though I find it difficult to understand common law relationships in Nigeria sha. They are legal in France for instance, as common law partners you have basically same rights as married. You even get official status of being in a 'pact' from the country. If most other foreign countries have such legalities, will be difficult for a CL rel from Nig to fly since our own law doesn't recognise it.

This Accra of a place self. Extra scrutiny from VO is not supposed to be a death sentence but We're seriously unlucky with the snail speed of our own lvo... Getting sent to Accra and getting selected for security screening nobody knows which one is better anymore.

Do not be in a hurry. Take time out and weigh the pros and cons. You already have most of the requirements to prove that you are in a common law relationship. See the link below:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=347&top=14

If you choose to however get married, please do it because you actually want to and not because of fear of Accra or whatever scrutiny you may face. Someone actually got married post ITA and still got PPR within the normal time frame.

I totally agree with you. However, for the bolded portion, I believe it happens a lot in Nigeria but we just don’t call it common-law relationship. Where people will be cohabiting and even have kids without actually being legally married.

Please are there any lawyers in the house willing to help me with a sample of their work reference before I go and copy verbatim what's provided in the NOC?

I just need a sample to construct mine with because the job duties provided for in the NOC are what I do but I don't want my work reference to be verbatim.

Just indicate and I'd slide into your DM, it's kinda urgent now.

Many thanks in advance.

I don't have a valid tourist visa yet. Is it advisable to apply for the tourist visa before I start PR application or after?

Any time you apply is okay. Like I said, dual intent is allowed. You must be be able to convince the VO that your intent to visit is temporal and you will return duly.

What they usually consider mostly are ties you have here, purpose of visit and travel history.

If I were to opine, I wont advise you apply visiting since you are about to process EE except its extremely urgent and of paramount importance. All the best.

Hello guys, do you fill in duration of study as two years each for both diploma and HND on the express entry page? I know Wes already evaluated as 3years or more, does that mean i have to backdate the HND duration to make it 3yrs or still fill it as 2yrs? For those that did it, how did you fill ur duration of study for hnd pls?

It's either you know how to paraphrase sentences or you don't. Using someone else's JD to write your own won't make it any easier for you. You may even get into trouble if you don't do it well. No two organisations can have the same wording of a job description even if they are similar job roles. I'd suggest you use the NOC listing and do a thorough rewording of the duties if you must. Another way is to work with whatever you are given from your HR and let that guide you together with the NOC list of duties to come up with something for final sign-off.
Anyone that wants to help with theirs can do so, I just gave my humble opinion sha.

I agree with this. It actually more common than we think. I know a family, the parents didn't get married until their 4th child was born.
I have distant relatives who had kids before they got married, lived together for years, did almost everything that married couples do. Its just frowned upon because of our religious climate.

Many thanks in advance.

If you are in litigation simple include all the things you do from filling of proecess in court or legal representation
If it's corporate law - same
You don't have to even look at the NOC to know your JD. If you need more clarification send me a PM
