Mediocrity talk... To be the best you have to beat the very best at all times

The problem is we respect our opponents too much

The bar we should be aiming for at this stage of Nigerian football should be the European standard not the African standard

If you are losing to a Cameroonian team 1:0 away

You will definitely be slaughtered 5:0 away to the North African teams

If you can't best the north Africans, how then do you measure up to the world?

I hate people with defeatist and mediocre mentality

I seriously hate ambitionless people too

Obagoal was still balling at 33. Cmon. And you want me to always totally believe you have your facts right before you comment?
Robben is 34 and injuries have been a part last year. He is getting back to form now. Same as the Everly injury prone Ribery.

in the last decade, mention players that were still balling like Obagoal?

You know what, my conclusions are final! What's the meaning of all this?
undecided
I don't think you understood my comments.

It was an appendage if sorts not contradicting but further highlighting the issue of performance and age.

My point waa that in Nigeria we are too quick too dismiss our established, proven and tested players on the basis that they are old even at 29.

And then introduce unproven, untested, and far from established youth players on potential who may not achieve 1/10 of what these older players have achieved.

I used Obagoal as an example, still relevant if not injury I would have expected him to make the world cup last world cup.

Dutch-Nigerian Benfica rig‎ht full back Tyronne Ebuehi says his decision to shun a chance with the Dutch national team for the Super Eagles of Nigeria has improved his game a whole lot.
Ebuehi pledged his allegiance to Nigeria following his breakthrough season at Dutch side ADO Den Haag two seasons ago and he represented Nigeria at the World Cup in Russia.

Presently out injured, the 22 year old said the introduction to a different style of play and physical demand of African football helped a certain area of his game and it might not have been possible if he didn’t pla‎y for Nigeria.

” I’m very happy with ‎my decision to play for Nigeria. A new demand of African football especially the physical aspect has helped my game a lot. The World Cup was a fantastic experience for me and it made my family really proud and happy “, he concluded.

All the best for you o

Pray tell, the home team should have laid down their backs to be run over? Or you think they are in CAFCC to play prelims and go back?

This is not a group stage match, this is a knockout.

This mediocrity that I spoke of is what you are yet still displaying.

Now they have lost 1 nil away, they are in a more precarious situation when they play at home in a fortnight because for each goal they concede at home, they will need to score 3.

NPFL teams at the qualifying knock-out rounds of any CAF competition should be ruthless regardless of our Oppositions.

Etuhu Match-Fixing Trial to Commence Today

Former Premier League player Dickson Etuhu will go on trial in a Swedish court on Thursday to face a charge of match-fixing, which he denies.

Etuhu played for Manchester City, Preston North End, Norwich, Sunderland, Fulham and Blackburn Rovers before moving to play in Sweden, and also featured for Nigeria in the 2010 World Cup.

He is charged with trying to bribe a goalkeeper to fix the result of a league match between his former side, Stockholm AIK, and IFK Gothenburg.

The game was due to be played on May 18, 2017, but was postponed after goalkeeper Kenny Stamatopoulos told AIK he had been approached by Etuhu and another man with a view to fixing the game, according to the 473-page pre-trial protocol.

Etuhu has said his former team-mate must have misunderstood the conversation.
"I respect everyone's opinion, but the facts remain the same - it never happened ... It's unbelievable that an ordinary conversation with a friend can lead to something like this," Etuhu told Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter.

The offence of gross bribery carries a maximum sentence of six years in prison.

Etuhu, 36, and his lawyer Johan Akermark both declined to comment ahead of the trial, being held at the Stockholm District Court

Same thing with the falcons our female team. While teams like South Africa and Cameroon are closing the gap, we have consistently failed to do so since 1999 with the teams from other continent. And more annoying is that we have let these African nations catch up with us. One can no longer enjoy the female team play these side without a sense of panic.

I know we would win the finals, am sure at least by a lone goal, a goal difference or penalties. But sadly that's no longer the falcons of Mercy Udoh the wife of Colin Udoh I grew up watching.

When two average teams meet, its either here or there

Would you be able to decide the scoreline of a match between Wolves & say SD Huesca?

Coach of Portuguese league giants FC Porto Sergio Conceicao has temporarily shut down any chance of Chidozie Awaziem leaving the club in January following his lack of game time since returning from a productive loan spell with Nantes in France.

Last season Awaziem made 22 league appearances for Nantes but since returning ‎back to Porto he is yet to play a game in the league and has only made the matchday squad five times this season.

His only appearance so far came in the Cup game against Varzim where he lasted the entire duration of their 4-2 win over Varzim on the 31st of October. Since then he hasn’t played a single game in all competitions.

He requested to be allowed to return on loan to France with Nantes eager to have him back while Dijon also slapped in a loan bid but Porto rejected both proposals insisting on the defender signing an extension first before he will be allowed to leave on loan.

21 year old Awaziem had a chat with Conceicao over his immediate future as his lack of playing time has cost him a spot in the senior national team of Nigeria but he was told in clear terms by the coach that he is in his plans.

To that effect he will remain at the club as back up defenders and according to information gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com he will play in their dead rubber UEFA Champions League game in two weeks time.

Unfortunately the big name isnt all encompassing, it doesn't cover all teams in Nigeria.

Its not like Lobi has suddenly turned to a classy team or something, neither is USD Loum an A-class team. My issue is that your expectations is very unrealistic

Come now, can you predict the score between let's say Genoa FC and Fulham?

If you have any other reason why these clubs should be beating everybody they meet other than "we are a big name in African football" please share

The push by the handler of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr for Huddersfield ace Philip Billing to switch allegiance to Nigeria has sparked a reaction from the U21 coach of the national team of Denmark.

Billing has emerged as the prime target for Nigeria following his consistent display for Hull City this season as he is still eligible to represent Nigeria despite playing for Denmark at youth level.

Nigeria’s interest has not gone down well with Denmark and while expressing his shock over the recent comments made by Rohr who said he has instructed his assistant to speak with the 22 year old, the coach said Denmark won’t force the player to commit to them.

U21 coach Neils Frederiksen insist Billing has a very big future with the Danish national team but it’s left for him to decide ‎his future as Denmark are not known for getting involved in issues like this.

“I have heard absolutely nothing about this,” Niels Frederikse told BT.

“But I can not prevent him (Philip Billing) from playing for Nigeria if that’s what he wants. We are happy with Philip and we are sure he has a very big future with the Danish national team, but we do not mix in such a thing, but if he decides otherwise we will be anxious to have him”, he concluded.

If Lobi were to play at home first and only win by 1-0 there would be talk about a slim lead. These people care nothing about the league they just want to say no player is good enough but nobody is dragging players with them, they are only proving that they were only hating in the first place.
